    Surprisingly nice cleans. Also good to know you can boost the front end. As a big pedal guy, that's HUGE. Great vid.

    I recently got my orange super crush and a brand new marshall origin 212a vertical cab with celestion 70/80 speakers and omfg that thing is a freaking monster. I live in a small 1 bedroom apartment so a 412 wouldn't be applicable in there but the 212 when pushed is equivalent to a 412 imo, but can still keep the sound to a minimum especially since the super crush is a solid state amp, i dont need to push the volume balls to the walls to get a good tone out of it. But the super crush is a very capable amp. To me it's a perfect amp for pretty much any style of guitar. I love how affordable the amp is, yea sure 500$ is still nothing cheap but compared to other tube amps and even some more expensive solid state amps it kills it. Love mine. Rn using it for some slayer tones and it delivers so much

    • @HighImpaktAudio
      @HighImpaktAudio  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hell yeah! I wasn't sure at first on this amp, but using my own third party IRs definitely did the trick.
      I definitely relate with the small and close living quarters. That's why I love my captor X allowing me to use tube amps, but not have to blow away my neighbor going through a 4 x 12 haha.
      Anyways keep rocking! Glad you're enjoying the amp.
      And thank you so much for watching! 😁

    If you ever get the chance, I highly recommend boosting this amp with a Boss SD-1. It does a really good job at tightening everything up in the low end along with giving you a much more prominent midrange to achieve a more “in your face” sound.

    • @HighImpaktAudio
      @HighImpaktAudio  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I will absolutely try that! I have the SD 1 and I think that's the only boost I didn't try 🤣 but thank you for letting me know.
      I love the SD 1 on Mesa Boogie amps it's great!

    I got this amp as a backup amp to my tube amp but I gotta say I do love it in it's own respect. I actually will genuinely use it for certain projects as an intentional option rather than as a backup amp but not for metal (or at least not for more scooped sort of stuff maybe for lofi black or doom.) I LOVE it's, sort of, vintage sounding mid range character and think it's perfect for stuff that leans more into that. I'm def using this for some more punk/gothy kinda stuff. I gotta agree with your accessment, this is definitely not a tube amp killer, it's a different thing, but it's actually uniquely cool in it's own right.

    • @HighImpaktAudio
      @HighImpaktAudio  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I totally agree with this! Definitely has a unique sound to it. I'm happy to have its flavor of sound among my other amps.

      Would it be equally good the EQ in the front of the amp? I'm waiting for my SC100 to arrive, and really don't want to take the EQ from the pedalboard LOL... It was very difficult to arrange all the pedals

    Thanks for the review. Regarding the IR-DI box mentioned, at $599 that is more than I prefer to spend. Do you know of budget but similar box?

    • @HighImpaktAudio
      @HighImpaktAudio  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello, thank you so much for watching!
      The closest that I found to the Captor X that I use is the Two Notes C.A.B M pedal its an IR loader, and can allow you to plug in your amp DI to the pedal. And it's about half the price of the Captor X.
      The main thing that the C.A.B M pedal doesn't have is the ability to attenuate the power level of your amp.
      If you're looking for an even more budget friendly option there are a bunch of IR loafing pedals like the TC Electronic Impulse. But you won't be able to safely plug an amp into it. You'd be stuck to just pedals, or DI guitar. I always prefer to have the option to use a full amp, but it depends on your situation.
      Thank you again for watching! I hope this helps!

    I found that the DI out volume is influenced by the volume control of the amp. My expectation was that the DI out should NOT be affected by the volume control of the amp. Any guidance on this ?

    Hey man great video. Would you say this amp works as a general purpose workhorse? My local gc has one used I was thinking about picking up but I've only used really clean amps before. I'm guessing this amp is meant to be left in the dirt channel since it has the more versatile controls which I like the sound of, but I play lead in a indie band that's definitely more geared towards a clean sound. Debating getting this or saving up for a fender supersonic 22

    • @HighImpaktAudio
      @HighImpaktAudio  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey man thank you so much for tuning in, and enjoying the video!
      So far I'd say I'm really happy with both the dirty, and clean channel.
      On the clean channel it seems to have plenty of headroom to keep it pristine. And the dirty channel as you can see rips pretty good.
      This amp has some pretty focused mids which on the dirty channel I'll most likely scoop a bit. But it has a pretty nice vintage sound that the Orange amps have.
      I think this could definitely be a work horse. If you haven't yet take the one at you GC for a test run and see what you think of the tones for yourself.
      I recommend using a speaker cab with this guy. The DI out on the back doesn't have a good speaker emulation.
      Hope this helps 😁

    How do you add different impulse responses to it like you mentioned? I can’t figure out how to do it. I was only successful when I plugged the amp send into my interface and had a impulse uploaded.

    • @HighImpaktAudio
      @HighImpaktAudio  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello!
      In this video I used my Two notes torpedo captor X to use a different IR and do silent recording.
      Using the send definitely will work. As far as loading an impulse on to the amp I don't believe there is a way to do that.
      I hope this helped! Thank you so much for watching! 😁

    • @derekkolins
      @derekkolins ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the reply! So I have STL tones with nad IR loader. Would this be the same thing as the two notes program your using? And do you connect the amp to your interface the same as if you were just the di out with oranges crap cab sim? I think you made it sound good the way you did i just wanna make sure I’m doing. The right way cause I’m a little green when it comes to plug ins and IR’s. Thanks for your time!

    • @HighImpaktAudio
      @HighImpaktAudio  ปีที่แล้ว

      @derekkolins not a problem dude!
      It looks like The NAD IR loader is a plugin. So yes it would be really similar to the program that I used in my unboxing and first reaction video of this amp. I used the Torpedo Wall Of Sound plugin and I think you can achieve the same success with the NAD.
      In the video here that we are commenting on I used the speaker out on the back of the amp to go to my Torpedo Captor X which is a piece of hardware that will attenuate the signal, and load IRs for me then has a balanced out to go to my computer. If your in the market for a great IR loader then I'd recommend this and you wouldn't need to worry about running your amp straight into your interface. The Torpedo C.A.B M is another great IR loader.
      As far as I've seen on researching you should be able to run your amp send to the interface without any issues. But if you could use a balanced out like what's on the Captor X, and the C.A.B. M then that would be best.
      Both the Captor X and the C.A.B M are Two Notes products and work great.
      I tried to explain as easy to understand as I could haha let me know if you have more questions!

    • @derekkolins
      @derekkolins ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wow thanks that helps a lot… appreciate it. Yeah I don’t like doing the fx loop send way for multiple reasons due to my pedals I use. That’s why I bought this amp so I could do the di but the cab sim is so bad it’s unusable. I’m going to research the products you mentioned so I can mybe understand a bit better. I was confused in the video when you mentioned the speaker out… I didn’t know you were using that gear you just mentioned

    • @HighImpaktAudio
      @HighImpaktAudio  ปีที่แล้ว

      @derekkolins haha no sweat! I'm really glad I was able to help. Yeah the built in cab emulation is horrible on this amp, but luckily there are ways to make it sound good. Keep rocking on! 😎 🤘

  • @bicicaptura
    @bicicaptura ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Greetings! is it posible to use one of the speaker outputs to connect to an interface and record in garage band, do you think it will give better sound than the xlr output ?

    • @HighImpaktAudio
      @HighImpaktAudio  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello! Thank you so much for watching! I don't not recommend plugging the speaker output to an interface, you could end up hurting your amplifier. In order to get the signal from your amp to the right level you'd need something like an IR loader. Or you could even get the Tone X Capture from IK Multimedia. That would be able to get the level to match for interface.
      I hope this helps! Thank you so much for watching!

  • @cewhatley
    @cewhatley ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Would going from send of the FX loop the amp to a DI box then into the interface be better than using the DI with their questionable cabsim? Mine just arrived in the post today so have yet to try it out.

    • @HighImpaktAudio
      @HighImpaktAudio  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello! That's a good question. I've never tried that before, but from doing some research it looks like you should be fine going from the send to an interface. They say using a DI box if you have one is better with the send. But you will need an IR once the amp signal is in your computer. If you don't have an IR loading plugin the MIKKO 2 from ML soundlab has a free version that works great!
      Thank you so much for watching!

    do you do master volume up, channel volume down or the opposite?

    • @bram6070
      @bram6070 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I use the channel volume to sculpt the sound. For example the clean channel on 9 o'clock is sparkly clean and at max volume it gives an edge of break-up sound. Then I use the master volume for the actual volume control.

    Awe yeah!
    Redemption
    hallelujah!😅
    Yeah, I literally just commented on your unboxing vid about unwitingly stacking the DI Cabsim and IR, like three minutes ago actually...🙄
    I personally wish Orange had just merely foreseen the extended modernized versatility that simply adding a bypass switch to the built in Cab Sim circuit could have been?
    Womp¯\_(ツ)_/¯Womp
    Seriously, that's my one and only single solitary knit picking negative gripe.
    I mean, I totally can get the whole live gig utility/convenience aspect Ade clearly had in mind when engineering in the feature, but for Someone let's say...
    Perhaps who's typically more into recording "silently" at home, and not gigging about currently? Myself included?
    That Cabsim unfortunately falls painfully short of all practical expectations for that purpose. Even with the addition of an EQ low pass within the DAW.
    So I genuinely understand how that could of been perhaps somewhat confusing at first during that unboxing shoot.
    Anyway, I dig your content dude.
    I myself am currently also in a living situation where a mic'd up raging amp just isn't possible, so it's kind of interesting
    viewing content created from that mutual perspective.
    P.S. Yes, ALL of my comments become awkwardly too loooong! Ha!
    TBH? This is actually one of my shorter ones. LMAO!
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
    "You down with ASPD?"
    "Yeah you know me!"
    Bwahahaha!
    Cheers!✌

      @HighImpaktAudio  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hahaha no worries dude I'm totally cool with long comments 😂
      I'm glad you saw this video after seeing the unboxing. I agree the cab emulation Definitely confused the hell out of me when I first heard it.
      Having that bypass to turn it off would be huge for the silent recording types that don't have a torpedo, or other IR loader.
      I keep trying to push anyone that's seen the unboxing video over to this one haha I'm glad I figured it out though.
      Thank you for watching man. Really glad youre enjoying the content! I hope to chat with ya on some other videos 😁

    • @EasyHeat
      @EasyHeat ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HighImpaktAudio Thanks man! Yeah, I'm curious if there's a way to read the schematic and do a DIY bypass mod?🤔
      I know some people discovered a "hack" around the little Vox Mv50 Nu-Tube micro head's Cabsim simply by gently pulling the 1/4" cable out just one click. Ha!
      I'm willing to bet that behind one of the 3 XLR pins on the Orange's DI is potentially where it could be done? IDK
      Just a speculation.🤓
      I've used an Orange Micro Dark as a direct to interface preamp before via it's FX send into Wall of Sound. It honestly sounded massive!
      Currently I'm experimenting with using a Vox Valve Energy "Silk Drive" as an overall direct signal sweetener into my interface running various amp sim plugins. Mainly as a way for potentially using my analog Fuzz/OD/Distortion pedals with digital amps in a more convincing manner.
      It's an ongoing work in progress, but I will say that the Vox Valve Energy pedals are rather good IMO. I'm honestly looking to pick up the entire run seeing as they are now being discontinued.
      Great chatting with you dude!
      TTYL✌

      Hey! Thank you for watching! I always try to go into amp tones with an open mind. With a high pass filter, and a low pass filter to cut out some of those un desirable tones. Also using the right speaker or IR is a huge part. It's definitely not my favorite amp, but for the price it's not bad at all. 😁

    Nice review boss- been on the fence with one of these, I may pick one up actually. Used to own the Crush Pro 120 which I believe is the previous model. Notable improvement from the previous one. I do like that it retains more of that vintage flubbiness that orange is known for while also still working well for more modern applications. I'm sure with the right pedals (like horizon precision drive for example and a nice gate) it could likely be pretty useful in more modern metal for example. That and maybe an EQ after the DI out could help, or on the DAW so that it's not so "fizzy". Though in all honesty if I grab one, it would essentially be just for live use in my case... Thanks man! Glad you dig it now

    I love your content, but to be honest the tones you put out with this amp in this video do not sound inspiring to me. I have been on the fence on getting one of these, but now I know that this amp is not for me. I do love the tones you got with the Badlanders as I currently own the BL 25 and love that little amp! Keep putting forth the great content!!! \m/

Definitely not! 🤣 but I'm glad I was able to get a tone that at least I could work with.
      Thank you so much again! I'll definitely be pumping out content for sure+

      The sound he’s going for is weird. The Super Crush is more of a classic rock amp that can do cleans as well as it can do doom. It’s certainly not a modelling amp because in the room the difference is night and day.
