Ben is a fantastic player that clearly knows what he’s talking about. I love how casually he’ll whip out a note for note solo. He’s a natural presenter and I’m excited to see more videos of him in his element. Also, still can’t believe BANDertons hasn’t hit 850k yet. Like how are you not 1 million plus!??
If they were less of a circus they might have done it a long time ago. So many videos is just a sheer cringe with manchildren going berserk, including captain and Pete.
Great to see Ben on some more videos. He helped me out earlier this year when I ended up picking up a Jim Root Charvel, really friendly guy who knows his stuff!
Since Bea & Matt stopped filming ‘sounds like’… this might be my fav. Such a different take to the established segment. I am concerned that this may turn a bit too tutorial… but, keep playin around to find what works.
I started playing guitar in the 80s and there wasn't anything as good as what these Squire Guitars and others like it back then , its so good to have this right now .
@@Phoenix_cataclysm_in_2040 where I grew up in the uk all me and my mates wanted and lusted after were USA Built Guitars anything that didn't have USA on it was not good enough , and most of the bands back then and Guitarist thought the same. @@ledhendrix5054 Yep, if only back then you could remove yourself from the equation and realise that American Strat is just a product of sleek selling point through countless rock stars shaking their American Strats at you - so you ought to have one too to share the limelight. Even though Japanese made Fender or even Tokai would do as good a job as its American counterpart, and ironically in 80s that was exactly the case - Japanese Strats were better than the American ones.
having someone do heavier stuff is a great idea, i would love to hear a "sound like lorna shore for 1k" or slaughter to prevail, ice nine kills etc, something a bit more modern
Man this was the best Sound Like I have seen on Andertons in a very long time. Loved the demo format, explanation of the rig and some kick ass playing chops. Well done Ben
That guitar looks awesome and definitely sounds close, I’d love to see one of these on Daron Malakian from System of a Down or Ian D’Sa from Billy Talent
Good job. But I always find where the importance of heavy stuff lies is in the clarity of the low end. The articulation and the pickups separating the notes so you can hear a difference from open string to first second or third fret. I think this lacks that but for a cheaper guitar that should be expected.
@@roasty80 I gotta get a set at one point. I’ve only ever used passive pickups. I got a mark Holcomb sig prs7 and it’s a great guitar. Pickups are really hot but you get that note separation I always look for. My old Ibanez RG 7 I got in the late 90’s you couldn’t hear a difference from open string till you got to like the 3rd or fourth fret on the low B.
Can I suggest Mike Scheidt from Yob for under £1000. I know Oz would appreciate that as well. Great to see these kind of videos from Andertons for a change. ❤
Yes please anything YOB, the first metal band that I didn’t think was lame, cheesey and juvenile. Served as a gateway drug to plenty more metal bands that also don’t suck. Who’d have thunk?! I’m very thankful to Mike for opening my ears and mind - YOB is love!
Not my thing as far as todays toys go but you presented it so well I watched the whole show. Thanx ... I hope we will see you back often doing some demos. Next time please introduce yourself :-)
Are the new Orange solid state amps really better at the "tube" sound? My old Orange Super Crush 100 can't come close to the tone of my Orange Thunderverb 200. I ask because it's a lot of work to move that TH200 amp and cab around when I have to limit it's level so much in smaller gigs.
I just bought one of those hardtail 1H Strats to be more of a Tom DeLonge tribute, but yeah an aggressive bridge humbucker is good for a lot of stuff. It's a decent guitar for how cheap it is, too.
I have a question for the people of this community. Which guitar do you recommend I buy, the Squier from this video or the Harley Benton ST-20HH Active SBK? I also mention that I will be using all the Orange gear and pedals used in this video.
Wow the pog really did a thing there, had no idea that’s what made that sound, is it a kind of a pitch thing? Interesting, Jim’s one of my favourite guitarist so this was really kewl, I hope he can do a captain meets someday😄
„Looks the part for the sounds we‘re going for today“ haha xD I think you wouldn’t get closer to an EMG on this budget or you probably would have sacrificed the looks for that, but made me chuckle nonetheless 😄
you guys panned over the knobs of the amp with half the indicators hiding so we dont know where they actually are. Do it from the top for the love of god...
One of the rare cases when I did not like the tone on this channel. Sounded muddy and cheap. No presence, no air, whatever you call it. Just plain Boss Katana sounds much better to me.
Ohhh my the bridge washed out and the trolls appear. I said three words and damn Young ogres, I was talking about technique. Go back to playing Diablo 4 or Baldurs Gate 3 I was playing guitar before you were conceived . Bottle fed probably. Bye ❤
Great video, very informative and interesting not like the videos done with Pete too much rubbish, his videos are more of jokes, so many that you lose interest in a 15 minute video ends up being 45 minutes.
Love some Jim Root appreciation, Ben clearly knows his stuff and how to play it! Great video
We Need Jim Root for The captain meets!!
Bands that leap to mind for future episodes include Machine Head, Mastodon and Gojira.
Bring back the 5 minutes of footage of ben running around looking for amps and pedals. It makes me happy x

Cleans and leads sound amazing. With the guitar you’ve used for the rig, rhythm is as best as can be. Nicely done.
This is a really good video series, more please and thank you

What about Squiers made in Japan in 80/90s? They are good axes even by modern standards. 🤔

Aw hell yeah. I would suggest "sound like Rings of Saturn" but that might be a little out of reach xD
Have we finally found someone brave enough to do a Sound Like Dream Theater?
Man this was the best Sound Like I have seen on Andertons in a very long time. Loved the demo format, explanation of the rig and some kick ass playing chops. Well done Ben
nice vid, great choices + gret playing

Nice selection for this "special" Root tone ... well done

Agree. I recently purchased a squire tele. Pickups are crap. Installed an emg 81 and it chugs with ease

Please do a sound like Billy Duffy from The Cult. Thank you.
It’ll happen one day, it’s been requested since sound like started 😂

Yes Ben! Lets go!
From what song is the riff thingy at 9:08? Thanks

It would be great if you did Mastodon!
much better version of sound like than going through the shop and getting staff that doesn't do the job or discarding it at the end.. Kudos!
I don't listen to Slipknot that much but I dig that rig

POG= Polyphonic Octave Generator, it does octave up and down (a knob for each, plus a dry signal knob, so you can mix all three.)
„Looks the part for the sounds we‘re going for today“ haha xD I think you wouldn’t get closer to an EMG on this budget or you probably would have sacrificed the looks for that, but made me chuckle nonetheless 😄
Mick thomson next please 🙏
you guys panned over the knobs of the amp with half the indicators hiding so we dont know where they actually are. Do it from the top for the love of god...
Oz should do some stoner doom sludgy rigs like this. Conan,High on Fire Sleep, Electric Wizard, Monolord, SunnO))) Bongripper Acid King etc
Can we have a sound like The Eagles?
Do matt pike next
You should have said what big boy strings you put on it for us dummies that don’t know what to use for this tuning at 25.5 scale
He actually said it. 11-56
As well!
Sounds like Steve vai when?
As long as it's not a shootout with Jack of all trades aka Karate Kid.
Yada yada yada
Didnt he play with Faith No More too?

Not using the Harley Benton ST-20HH sbk active in here is a crime
Andertons only use equipment they sell and they don’t sell Harley benton
Pretty muddy to be honest, amp settings most likely.
Harley Benton ST-20HH Active SBK £129 (but you can't buy it here)
Or just buy the Jim root squire telecaster with emgs.
Sounds pretty muddy to me , and really not that close to Jims sound
I think it's very close to Jim's sound
Play like him,
Do that with a Fender Esquire into a Fender Twin Reverb with no pedals and tell me how you get on.
That's a bit rich coming from someone with only 4 subscribers and 8 videos.
Ohhh my the bridge washed out and the trolls appear. I said three words and damn
Young

No way bro Pete’s jokes are awesome adds character to the videos! Danish Pete rocks.
I can sound like Jim Root for free by going to the toilet
I hate that Nu-Metal is making a comeback (again) 🤢🤮🤮🤮
