    I countered the official offer that was in writing . It was only 5,000 more annually. They rescinded and said they are going in another direction.

      Wow. Very bad form. But I think that probably tells you this is not the place you want to work. Sorry that happened, though.

      Similar experience here. I countered an offer last year and they rescinded. I was super bummed. Well, got another offer about a month later with a slightly higher pay.. And the best part, 3 months into the new job and I got a promotion which further increased my pay considerably.

      Good! That means they likely weren't a good company. An extra 5K is nothing
