This is a great strategy. It’s the exact method I’ve been using to purchase a new Honda. Problem I have seen is many dealers refuse to provide a quote and just insist you come in to the dealership. It’s a fight just to not have to buy all the dealer add ons never mind actually negotiate the msrp.
Yes -- I think it depends a bit on where you are located, how many dealers there are in the area, model of car, etc. I've typically gotten enough response to make this work, though!
You are right. It is definitely much harder right now. I had fewer offers this time than in any of the times I tried this. And I had to expand the geographic range. It's worth a shot, though. Once the inventory is back, I think this will be successful again!

@3:55 what do you mean by “options” when you say you gave the color, brand and options? Thanks for clarifying! Super helpful video!
Thank you for this video! (rising 3L)
i'm surprised this still works with the inventory shortage! i'll definitely be giving this method a shot!

Love the insights. How do you get the letter to the dealership? Just use the general dealership email, snail mail or otherwise?
Would you post a copy of your letter?
