    I get that the escalade is practically like a truck underneath, but they're putting a work truck against a luxury SUV, therefore I'm impressed how convenient the Cadillac can be.

      Chevy Lamar Very true. It's to bad people can't see that. But a cool thing would be a twin turbo 5L! That would be something to see in the future raptor and f-150. But probably not being ford seem's to think the 3.5 v6's are ``the way of the future'' which I can't see.

      *You can't see, well at least you're right about that. When Motor Trend tested the new F-150 with the 2.7L TT against the Chevy Silverado, the 2.7l got 4 more mpg city than the 305 Chevy V-8 and beat it badly in the Performance/Towing Department, it was no contest, the Ford Shit All Over the Chevy, LMAO at the Chevy Idiots.*

    Of course the tubro will win against a naturally aspirated v8 at over 8000 feet above sea level. so the fact that the escalade was even wth it was beyond impressive- on sea level the f150 would be a mile behind it then.

    Reminds me of the old man flooring the old F-350 duallie with a 38 foor trailer in the back, four of us inside, on I-25 up the hill (in New Mexico, pretty close to the border with Colorado). That was some crazy driving, because we were moving at 90 mph. Wasn't too smart doing that speed with the trailer, but that spoke volumes about the torque of the good old 7.3L Ford diesel engine.

  • @DJR5280
    @DJR5280 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    People that don't travel at high altitude really don't understand how much power a naturally aspirated engine loses. I thought the Ford would walk away from the Escalade but I was way off. At sea level that escalade would have walked away easily. For those saying the Ford is just a v6 realize it is twin turbo charged and that more than makes up for it's lack in displacement and in this case gives it a advantage at higher altitude. Hell I have seen boosted civics with a 1.8l 4 banger smoke corvettes so quit hyping the ford because it is a v6.

    The problem with a V-6 is all the crap you have to do to them to get power from them...The Eco boost has twin turbos..variable valve timing 4 cams with all the pressurized chain tensioners cam phasers etc. to go along with it.. On they can make power but they don't last... All I see at the 8 car dealerships I work at are V-6 engines sitting on the ground and not in the truck or car. They are junk no matter who makes them including GM.

    It really doesn't matter which one is faster. The competition between Ford/Chevy/Dodge/Nissan/Toyota has made everybody's truck driving experience better. Look back at the 1950's model trucks and put it next to todays modern counterpart. The new compact/midsize trucks now can out haul, out run any of those old beaters. Stock truxk to stock truck. Personally i like Chevy so i buy Chevy. My brother likes Ford and he buys Ford. Is one of our trucks better because of the decal on the fender, No. If everybody drove the same thing and wore the same thing life would be very dull. We can all agree today you cant go wrong buying any of these trucks. If you do the proper maintenance on your vehicle it will last forever.

    I like the Ford better then the GM. I have 209,000 miles on my 2009 Ford Focus SE and that car never left me stranded. And my 96 Saturn I got rid of around 163,000 and it was maybe around 130,000 when that car left me stranded twice. So that shows that the Ford is a better vehicle. And if I get a better job I plan to get a new Ford F150 Sueprcrew XLT Sport with the 6.5 box and 4x4. Hopefully in Silver as thats the color of my Focus.

      Unless the pistons are forged, which doubt they are in newer caddy for fuel economy they use hyperutectic ...even 8psi will grenade them in short order, yeah you might get 10-20k miles out of them if you lucky and have zero detonation in that time.

  • @kylefitzgerald4419
    @kylefitzgerald4419 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    The f-150 will destroy the caddy as they go up farther. Being thinner air and higher altitude. So yeah those turbo's give the f-150 a very good advantage. But I do wish Ford kept the 6.2 and upped the torque to 480 and horse power to 430 or 440. Then that would be a head to head challenge. But who know's maybe in 2017 with the new raptor they will release it again with those number and also maybe a superchager PKG for the raptor from roush and also offer it in the f-150 but without the supercharger. But time will only tell!

      @kylefitzgerald4419 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***Classified*** Yeah, but just means as the more miles you put on it, means the more problems down the road. But what I would have liked to see would have been a 5L ecoboost pumping out 550+ hp and 500+ pounds of torque.

    The ford will beat the Cadillac as they head further up. Sea level will be another story. I got why ford uses the eco boost for power and economy but for fucks sake give an option for a big throaty V8 for the people that want it. If a person wants it they won't care about mpg. For people that drive only V8 like me " 2011 DTS platinum and 2015 escalade platinum" we want that throaty sound and torque. I'm waiting for the CT6 to pop out with a V8 before I'll upgrade my DTS. Not all about that harsh sounding 3.6 v6

    • @kylefitzgerald4419
      @kylefitzgerald4419 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      philarob80 Possibly. But hp is more so for speed not pulling power.

    • @sugonmaballs
      @sugonmaballs 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      philarob80 It's hard to say because there's much more to consider besides power output. These trucks have very different transmissions, different final drive (rear diff) ratio, significantly different weights (for their gross vehicle and towing weight), plus they're at altitude, so the 3.5 with forced induction is affected less by the less dense air.

      Did you watch the video? They called it a dead draw. The two were going back and forth for the lead, no truck pulled away . The F150 also had 500lbs more than the Cadillac on its trailer.

      jeremymvail even with an additional 500 lbs on the trailer, the caddy is still heavier by over 400 lbs. The escalade weighs almost 1k more then the F150.

      @TheCoasterPOV 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kyle Fitzgerald the cadillac is offered with either a 3.42 or a 3.73 the one that they prob had was the one with the 3.73

    • @kylefitzgerald4419
      @kylefitzgerald4419 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wolfman Performance Productions Possibly, but usually TFL Truck never get's the car company's big gear ratios, or so I think. Just from being that their 15 lariat 2.7 only has the 3.55 when they could have got the 3.73. But what ever, mostly what they have on the lot I guess.

    • @reyperez3424

    Naturally aspirated engines lose 3% of their power. per 1000' of elevation. Most of the U.S. lies beneath the 1000' ceiling. Those people will never realize they've lost 15 hp, in their 500 HP car. It's when you are running the Ike Gauntlet @ 9,000+' they you soon see and feel your 500 HP car falling on its face. It has literally lost 135 HP at the crank! Ask me how I know this?... I drive an M156 E63 AMG. It feels like you're dragging an anchor.

    no way in hell are those loads the same, also the cadillac is haulling nearly 1 ton more weight. 3 rows of seats, dvd players, huge alternator, rear heat and a/c etc. plus at 200k miles the 6.2 will have had the spark plugs replaced and the ford will need a set of turbos and probably a reman by that point in its life cycle.
    also if you need more power from the ford it will result in seriously accelerate engine wear.

    Horsepower gets you up a hill, not torque. Therefore, if manufacturers' figures are to be believed, the Cadillac should win as it's got 55hp more and two extra gears to keep the revs up at maximum power. The fact the Ford kept pace makes you wonder about GM's power claims‼️😟🚙🐎💨=🐂💩

    • @TheoldSouth
      @TheoldSouth 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      The escalade is most likely heavier

    • @chek1n
      @chek1n 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      MrKeyboardCommando Torque is literally everything for hillclimbing . . . Horsepower does not say anything about the ability of a car to maintain a certain speed on a certain incline, that's torque. Horsepower is acceleration, while torque is the ability to rotate the wheels against forces. This is why you see little sedans with their V6s go up hills like turtles and race downhill above 120 mph. Economy V6s are usually more horsepower-ish than being torque-ish. Trucks are tuned to have a flat torque band while non-towing vehicles have a hill-ish torque band.

    • @MrKeyboardCommando
      @MrKeyboardCommando 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      jeffrey625625 Torque has nothing to do with climbing hills. Horse power is what gets you up the slope. That's why you gear down when you are running out of grunt; to get back up the power band.

    • @XTheGuyInTheCornerX
      @XTheGuyInTheCornerX 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The f150 has turbos so the elevation hardly affects its power numbers while the escalade is down on power because of its inability to get as much air as when it's at sea level

    • @MrKeyboardCommando
      @MrKeyboardCommando 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lucas D I've never been totally convinced by this argument. Altitude generally means colder, denser air, which will partially offset the rarefying effect of altitude. Plus, the turbo is using the same air. I think the main reason for the performance parity is GM's optimistic power claims.
