We are finally here boys! heres my final predictions for the winners! GOTY: Winner Astro, Personal Vote Astro Its really up for Astro, Metaphor, and FF7. As ive been saying the entire year, even if ErdTree gets in nobody will vote it to win, people just dont want a DLC to win the award. I love seeing Wukong here but i think out of all of these games its the least likely to win because of its low review scores. Balatro getting in here is cool no chance it wins lmao. FF7 is really strong still, high scores and the people who have played the game and love the series adore it so much. The issue with FF7 is that alot of people have found it really hard to get into the series, and its a sequel. Metaphor is great, but once again similarly it has simular issues to FF7 people view it as "fantasy p5" so they didnot get into it if they didnot enjoy the persona games. So at the end of the day, im going to make a bold prediction and vote Astro, once again i dont think its a lock for the win, but i think it really stands out so much from the other games here. Just think about it, so many of these games are brutal realistic RPGs that are simular in tone. Astro has that review score backing it up and such a unique identity as a game that i think it just wins here by a little bit. But maybe im just completely wrong and Erdtree wins or some shit lol. Direction: Winner FF7, Personal Wukong, Even if other games win i still think that FF7 has direction in the bag here. Still dont quite understand this award anyways.. Narrative: Winner Metaphor, Personal Infinite Wealth I love seeing Yakuza finally get some of the flowers that it deserves, but sadly it has no chance of winning lmao.. I think that this goes to Metaphor the story is really strong and while i dont adore it as much as others its very accessible to the wider audience. FF7 is the closest here but its a sequel so it requires investment in the first. Art Direction: Wukong, Personal Vote, Wukong Good nominations here. Erdtree is the weakest, Neva has no chance of winning but it is very pretty. Metaphor, Astro, and Wukong are all very pretty games. I guess my issue with Metaphor and i think the issue that alot of people will have, is that the game is pretty in some places and ugly in others, namely the NPCs and the repetitive dungeon artstyle. I think Wukong wins here based on the fact that its graphics are just insane, and those animations cutscenes are just outstanding. Music: Winner FF7, Personal Vote, Astro FF7 will win this, they won back in 2020 against some of the best soundtracks of all time, people love the composer. Metaphor is a good contender though, even though i think its weaker than Atlas's other game P3Reloaded this year. I would personally vote for Astro here as that OST is a banger!. Audio: Winner Hellblade, Personal Vote Astro, Hellblade is the easy prediction here, though i think Slient Hill 2 is a big contender. Performance: Winner FF7, Personal Melina Metaphor performances got fucking robbed here none for Heismay or Louis???? wtf Impact: Winner Life is Strange, Personal Neva Life is strange always wins these awards even if the game is meh. Ongoing: Winner Helldivers 2, Personal D4 Accessbility: Winner Dragon Age, Personal Dragon Age Community: Winner BG3, Personal Fortnite Indie: Winner Balatro, Personal Lorelei Debut Indie: Winner Balatro, Personal Animal Well VR: Winner Batman, Action: Winner Wukong, Personal Wukong Really stacked catagory, could see anyone winning here. Going to go to Wukong at the end of the day cause its in GOTY. But honestly wouldn't be sad at it going to any of these even COD cause that gameplay was really clean. Action/Adventure: Winner Astro, Personal Astro RPG: Winner Metaphor, Want Yakuza Fighting: Tekkin, Want Tekken Sim: Kimisugami, Want Frostpunk Sports: WWE? want none of these shits Mulitplayer: Helldivers Want Helldivers Adaptation: Winner Arcane, Want Arcane An incredibly competitive fight between Fallout and Arcane. Arcane has the upper hand here at the end of the day because its coming out during voting and is super recent. Also its just fucking good. Also Brandon please watch arcane man its so fucking good. The GTA6 Award: Winner GTA6 Esports: League Esports Player: Faker, Want Chovy Esports Team: T1, Want BLG
Mate Metaphor really did get robbed for best performances it baffled me. I audibly laughed when the woman from Outlaws popped up I was like wow. Love so many of these picks and would be very happy with the outcomes. It’s nice to see you seem to also agree Infinite wealth should get the nod over Metaphor. I feel like as a complete package for a turn based RPG it’s sooooooooooooooooooooo slept on. Can’t wait for the night to see how many of your personals maybe get picked 👀✊
I’m really surprised that Balatro made the cut but I’m happy to see any Indie title break that top 6 even if it’s treated as a token spot. I’m still yet to try any of these I really should jump into Crab Souls though 🙃
I personally think DLC and remakes are different. I'm in favor of including remakes, but excluding DLC and remasters. Fro remakes, they may use an older game as their basis, but they are essentially a from the ground up retelling of that story. Many times there are drastically different story decisions, gameplay mechanics, etc. They are typically different enough from their originals and involve a very heavy amount of creativity fro the team. There can be drastically different art directions, gameplay decisions, story beats, etc. so I think they should qualify. I look at something like the RE2 remake and think that game is different enough from the original to justify being eligible for awards. On the other hand, Remasters are largely just polishing up what previously existed without much creative liberty, it's mostly just fixing up performance and graphics with little else, so I think they should be excluded. And I honestly think DLC should just get its own category at this point, because they do deserve some recognition, but Shadow of the Erdtree isn't a standalone game, I can't just go out and play it, I have to buy the actual game, which is Elden Ring. In my opinion, if I can't go out and buy it as its own thing, it shouldn't be eligible for best game of the year.
I really just wish they had their own categories altogether, celebrate DLCs and remakes/remasters for sure but have them be separated from original entries that have built everything from the ground up. I think it’s definitely gotten to the point where there needs to be some change to TGA’s if they wish to be taken seriously moving forward as Erdtree being there has made a huge amount of people feel it’s lost any sort of credibility.
@ I fully agree on remasters and DLC. I think those honestly should have their own category. They are happening in enough quantity in modern gaming where you could actually have a list of banger DLCs and remasters that get recognized. But personally I still feel like remakes have enough of their own creative DNA woven into the game to merit being included just as regular games. I can respect the opposite viewpoint, but personally I look at games like Resident Evil 2 remake or Final Fantasy 7 remake and can barely recognize them compared to the original. To me what separates remakes from DLC and remasters is that they are in essence a new game that can stand on its own two feet as a creative product of the development separate from the original.
@@TheDynastyWarrior13 Yep Remakes are the only one of the three where I’d be flexible enough to concede about their place having a right. But yeah I still feel we get enough of them as well now just feels better to have their own category but hey I don’t make the rules 😂 I’m sure I’d piss people off if I did as I’d be much stricter that Geoff is. Thanks for getting involved in the discussion 😁
I imagine many people will be disappointed with the nominees this year and perhaps feel much more hard done by than in previous years. What are your biggest upsets/disappointments in any of the categories? Do you think there should be more nominations types to help prevent unpopular picks like Erdtree in the future? Lastly what’s a pick from me or Brandon you disagreed with the most? Just like to generate some discussion 😁 Hope everyone enjoys it and remember it’s all in good fun. Can’t wait for the next 6 weeks we have tonnes of stuff in the works and just want to thank everyone (especially Brandon of course) for allowing me to be a reoccurring part of this channel 🫡 It’s been an awesome year for gaming and being a part of the content side here’s to many more ✊
I love you gentlemen. That said, is it possible to have less than zero interest in something? This is my outlook pertaining the Game Awards, whether it be 2024, 2020, 2015, or 2010 editions. It reminds me too much of assorted film & movie awards. I determine what is "essential." Not some gaming "journalist" who swings to the left of the political spectrum. Peace out.
Oh absolutely I 100% respect those who have zero interest in the Game Awards. It’s by no means a flawless experience from head to toe, for me it’s something to look forward to. I enjoy hearing everyone’s take on what they think should win and what games were most important to them. I love seeing the trailers for a few new games and stuff like the Alan Wake 2 dance segment last year is something that makes me smile. There’s no shame in disliking it though hope you’ve enjoyed this year for its releases however 😁✊
@@xman777b No problem man as I said I can understand apologies in advance as we have a couple more videos relating to awards 😂😂 But stay strong ✊ Plenty of other great stuff 😉😂😁
