    Wow, this video had everything. Current release review. Alternatives for every bottle with a quick taste+review. Quality to price analysis. And most importantly, a rant. Had to be done. I felt the same way myself.
    Keep sending this man samples, everyone. He's one of the few that doesn't pull punches or hold back on unbridled emotion when sh*t is good.
    Excellent work, Bill. Cheers.

    I think the cost is more of a difference of buying a specialized strain from a family farm instead of massive quantities of feed grade yellow dent corn than it is a pure money grab. Also applaud heaven hill for the innovation, and trying something new, and not going crazy with the pricing like when Buffalo Trace did the Daniel Weller with Emmer wheat.

    • @bourbonbill
      @bourbonbill  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      That’s a good perspective on it. But I would bet the transportation savings and economies of scale Heaven hill has help balance the cost difference in the corn. I think they did go a bit overboard on pricing should have been about $65 a bottle. Buffalo trace of course went way more overboard but that’s not surprising from them

    This idea isnt that new when it comes to whiskey. Scotch brands can often have "local barley" editions of their stuff. Although it does come with a price premium (as Heaven Hill is well aware of).
    But since we're all piling on in the comments, if anyone really wants a "farm to glass" experience, look no further than Frey Ranch. They're growing everything they distill on-site. THEMSELVES!

      @@bourbonbill,
      Josh Stuff said, "Frey Ranch highlights the grain so can be polarizing."
      And another channel, when talking about a craft barrel pick they went on -- not a *Frey Ranch* barrel pick -- said that the five barrel pick samples they were given all tasted like "young bourbon with a ton of flavor." And then summarized that that bourbon they had been sampling "feels small town like Frey Ranch."
      If you ever review Frey Ranch I'll watch but, from what I've heard so far, *I'm* not tryin' it.

      @@bourbonbill I got a KC 14y pick a month ago for 55. Bookers is 100. I can get a ECBP for 70ish and even a pick in WV for 65ish. Then there is these things for 100 bucks. (I really can't let HH off the hook for the HH18 pricing either. That killed my wallet...) All the distilleries feel a bit disjointed right now with pricing and releases. I'd still rather have a KC Pick or ECBP over most booker and special releases nowadays. No fomo needed. (Man that HH18 was such a bummer haha)

      @bourbonbill before seeing the price I thought about picking one up if I saw it. I usually don't care for the nuttiness typical of HH stuff, so after seeing the price it was an easy pass.
