Interesting list, Matt, and love how you defend your choices with your passion (many of those I still haven't tried, mind you) but, damned, your No2 !...Very curious about it...Cheers & have a nice Christmas eve, buddy ! 🎄🥳🥮🍾🥃
Thanks Greg! I did notice that my list wound up with a bit of an overarching theme. It wasn't until I went and started putting things in order to shoot that I realized the mid to late teens age statement pattern. I'd love to pour that Daftmill for you one day buddy. Hope you've got something special in your glass for Christmas my friend. Cheers and merry Christmas 🥃🎄
Hey Matt, great line up and love how you broke down the best of each region for you in 2024. I had the opportunity and got myself anCnoc 24, Ledaig 18 and Craigellachie 17 early on this year. I am waiting for Laphroaig Cairdeas 2024 and KK16, both elusive to this point. My best so far this year has been Glendronach 15. We rarely see decent bottles show up in Ontario and GD was one of them so I was able to grab it. Merry Christmas and best of the holiday season to you and yours. Cheers!
Great to hear from you Rohit! Love hearing the feedback on the structure of the list, it's always tough to nail down a good way to run it. You've done well snagging an Ancnoc 24, Ledaig 18 and Craig 17. Truly that's already the makings of an all star tasting. Hope you run into the Cairdeas 2024 or any edition of the KK 16. GD gets a bit of hate since Brown-Forman took over but I'm usually still happy sipping on a GD15. I don't have the 15 currently but last night I was sharing the GD 21(2020) with some friends visiting for Christmas last night. Great drams all around. Cheers Rohit and Merry Christmas 🥃🎄
Thanks man! Yeah both the 2023 and 2024 were awesome. Maybe only more impressed by how consistently excellent they have been! Cheers and Merry Christmas 🥃🎄
As an Aussie, red wine barrels from our red wine industry are everywhere! If you dont see a lot of finishes or maturations in red wine it can be a real novelty with some great berry fruit flavours. But for me it's too much, every Aussie whisky has too much red wine influence, it overpowers the spirit 😂
Thanks for watching the video Harold! I get quite tired of Wine casks often myself. And even with this Turntable release I would have picked almost any other cask combo than Red Wine and Virgin oak 😅 But somehow this one worked for me. And it at least allowed me the opportunity to try a nearly 50% Australian whisky for about $200 less than the others on my shelf(Belgrove for $280 eek). But I agree, we need less heavy handed casks to let that spirit shine. Cheers Harold, and Merry Christmas 🥃🎄
@@whiskyonthewestcoast maybe I can DHL express you some nice Aussie bottles without enormous price tags 😂 But I'm crying over here, all spirits I think have a 100% tax, effectively doubling prices! I ran to look for a Turntable bottle after your review... AUD $320 😩😩 - that's CAD $300 or so 😤 but in any case merry Christmas to you too mate!
Glad you jumped on that bottle and are enjoying it. What a steal of a price that was. I only purchased 1(still in Calgary waiting for me). Should have made it 3! Cheers and Merry Christmas Kirby! 🥃🎄
@ I may buy another one tonight if there’s any, I’m going to watch the rest of your video later I’m at work I opened it with a couple neighbours and finished about half the bottle. Great night.
Thanks man! Great to hear you were lucky enough to snag this one! It's excellent and yet underrated and overlooked, at least when compared to other J.A. Mitchell products. See you in the new year! Cheers and Merry Christmas 🥃🎄
So I went over to KWM after I got home tonight and picked up a bottle of the daftmill 15 there was only two left now there is one left in Canada as KWM is the only store that carries it Thanks for helping me make up my mind on that one. I’ve been thinking about it for a while. As for my whiskey of the year, I am going to have to go with my 60th birthday whiskey which was the G & M Highland Park 1995 27-year-old maybe the best thing I’ve ever tasted mind you it’s the nicest whiskey that I’ve had which I had more than just asample of
I really enjoyed the cairdeas 2024 took a bottle on vacation I was advised to buy as many as I could find (2) I also enjoyed the killkerran 16 got a couple bottles 2023. The kk heavily peated was excellent as well
Also love the KK HP releases. You've done really well to back up those 2024 Cairdeas and KK 16's! I'm thrilled to have back ups of each too. Seems like we're on the same wave length here Kirby! Cheers once again buddy 🥃🎄
Buddy, that's a great whisky! Really enjoy it and when I can catch it on sale for 90USD... I really need a backup bottle while I can get it at that price. Cheers John and Merry Christmas my friend 🥃🎄
Yeah, it can be tough to acquire domestically. I'm just glad it does show up from time to time in Alberta and B.C. What Province are you in? I think Alberta is might be sold out but it recently launched at the government store here in B.C. in November. It sold pretty quick at the Government stores and is now showing up at private liquor stores in Vancouver and on Vancouver Island, though at the price of $230 + 15%. I passed on a 2nd bottle at that price because that's too high in my opinion. Hope you can find a bottle at some point! Cheers and Merry Christmas 🥃🎄
Great list! So sad I waited for the inept LCBO to get the 2024 Cairdeas after they said it would be released and even sent me the SKU number. Never came to Ontario and the last 10 had.
If there's one thing I've learned from all the comments from you guys it's never count on the LCBO to get any release within two years of it coming out. What a gong show the HelLCBO is. I feel for you guys. Hope you find a late drop from Alberta or elsewhere. I pulled an all-nighter in line to get my backup bottle of it here in B.C. and I'm glad I did. Cheers my friend and Merry Christmas 🥃🎄
Incredible. Some real hitters there Matt, just beauties. Merry Christmas and here's to 2025!
Merry Christmas Matt!! Happy Birthday 🎉

Great video and picks!
Thanks Gary, I appreciate it! Cheers and Merry Christmas friend 🥃🎄
That price on the 17 is what the 13 usually goes for here in California, what a deal. Agreed on the Laphroaig, it’s fantastic.
Excellent pick for whiskey of the year. The Kk16 impressed so much this year.
Thanks man! Yeah both the 2023 and 2024 were awesome. Maybe only more impressed by how consistently excellent they have been! Cheers and Merry Christmas 🥃🎄

Yes Matt I think the same about KILKEREN.. BAGGER STUFF🔥⚡🌪MY WHISKY PICK FOR 2024 IS KILKEREN HP batch 10 🌫🔥⚡Merry Christmas and Happy New Year’s
Merry Christmas and happy New Year’s to start and I have a bottle of the 17 opening picked up a couple. It is delicious.
Glad you jumped on that bottle and are enjoying it. What a steal of a price that was. I only purchased 1(still in Calgary waiting for me). Should have made it 3! Cheers and Merry Christmas Kirby! 🥃🎄

Great pick for WOTY. I have an uncracked one and am waiting for your review. See you next year. Thank you!

Cheers 🥃

I wish I could find Ledaig 18 from anywhere in CA! Don’t feel like getting it shipped from UK 😢
The UK prices ($88)are still great even with the shipping. I received mine in a multiple bottle order in 2 days
Unreal price. If I lived in Alberta I'd be ordering it from the U.K. Best way for us to get it for sure.

MLCC in Manitoba is just as bad if not worse.
