wow great video wayne, i remember fishing the stour from what was pontins wick ferry, many many years ago, i think what was the restaurant entertainment building is now called the captains club, think its visible at start of the video, also the 1st place i ever fished 37 years ago aged 3, went back few years later aged 9 or 10 and had great time catching mullet on small mepps loaded up with maggots, did the job.

You are fishing on the outskirts of a very beautiful city, the water is calm, not choppy, but the fish are big 👍👍👍

Tried this in Bristol yesterday as I've seen a bunch of Mullet there lately, found it tangled hell of a lot though. Going to try add a swivel after the spinner see if it helps. Good work, looks like a nice spot.

Weirdly I was fishing this spot this afternoon, but a strong wind in face . I was using a very soft 8lb fluorocarbon and yes tangled a fair bit .
Will rebuild with a stiffer not so flexible line but same weight (not all lines are the same) . Christchurch angling has a video on how to build these rigs if anybody needs. A fine video Wayne..

hi Wayne , just wondering what hooks you use for the mullet , I tend to use size 8 thin wire coarse hooks but I've been trying small circle hooks which for some reason don't seem to work as the fish don't hook themselves as you would expect ... any thoughts..

Do they ever leap out of the water, I am on holiday at Whitby and constantly seeing large fish leaping from the harbour and around the shore, I think it may be mullet.

    • @TheShoreHunter

They do mate, especially when you hook them 😄

I've been looking to try for mullet, what are these spinners your using and is it just abit of rag on the trailing hook?

Is that stretch available on a day ticket for coarse and sea fish?

Bit disappointed Wayne, what's happened to Chesil 52 ? I realise it's probably hard going at mo ...weed, spiders ?? But thought that was part of the exercise. Tom put out an excellent vid last wk , which you've mirrored.
Nice setting and camera shots tho .

It's been filmed, I also filmed a video with a TH-camr from America. It will be up don't worry. I need to do different videos

Look forward to it , it's certainly a challenge you've undertaken, but as you know the rewards can be amazing on Chesil . To capture on vid would be a great watch.
It would have been nice to have had my Go Pro to record my treasured fishing memories. Tho I've hopefully got some good diving footage, that is when I'm clever enough to download it from a zilliion SD cards !!! :) LOL
Enjoyed ur Bristol (?) Smooth vid last wk :)
...fishing coach ? how about Go Pro coach ?

Wayne just an afterthought , did my 1st dive this yr off Chesil cpl wks back before wind went ti w...s . Unfortunately caught beginning" May" water and viz was about 1mtr !!! However found Adelaide tho couldn't see much , cept cpl Wrasse , 1 unusually letting me touch it. My point, 1 of them easily 6+ , there are some serious Wrasse on there to be targeted. Not aware many do, could be a different challenge for you maybe. I did see ur capture there 2/3 wks back , however don't think it was really targeted. Not that it made it less impressive...just a suggestion for when the going is hard ??
      Take care 🙂

In the US I've never seen anyone catch a mullet on a lure anymore than catching a carp on a plug. I have caught carp intentionally flyfishing, so I'll give your technique a try next time I'm near the ocean.
