Bassman I live in Suffolk and regularly go to snape maltings where we see mullet in excess of 30 inches long. we know their length because of the size of the rudder on a barge that is moored there can we see larger fish in that river yes we see lots of them at low tide stirring the muddy bottom ......

FYI my PB mullet 6lb 2oz measured around 25 inches or 64 cm so a 30 inch mullet must be 8plus 😳😁

G G mullet's pectoral fin, when bent forwards, goes past the eye. A thick lip's only reaches to around the halfway point of the eye. GG mullet also produce an instant slime.
