Martha Longhurst dies in the Rovers Snug (13 May 1964)

The controversial, for the time, death of street favourite Martha Longhurst who was axed by new producer Tim Aspinall. Probably one of Coronation Street's greatest mistakes.
I find this to be very poignant as Martha dies alone while everyone else is enjoying themselves.
