- R.I.P Anne Kirkbride, you were such an amazing, talented actress and will never be forgotten. Dierdre's place will forever be in Weatherfield. Well done to all the cast and crew for getting through these tough scenes, you all did it beautifully and did Annie proud.

I was shocked when I heard of Anne Kirkbride's passing.
Of course I knew she had been unwell before, but I thought she had recovered.
She was a lovely woman, and one of Corrie's finest actors, and I've missed seeing her on TV.

Ken breaking down at the sight of Deirdre's glasses is reminiscent of when Hilda did the same over the sight of Stan's. Both scenes were excellently acted and poignant.
Remember watching the episode with hilda and stans glasses.. Looked over at my dad and tears were streaming down his face.. Set me off..

Yes, at least she got a tribute. They never gave one to Leah Bracknell on emmerdale Zoe tate 1989-2006. Maybe because her family wouldn't allow it. Vince Williams who played Hampton "Hamp" Speakes on Guiding Light from 1989-1996 didn't get one either who died of Cancer. he was the first african american contract player to work on the show whose tv daughter Kat was played by Nia Long.

They weren't planning to kill her off in the programme, she died in real life so they had to say she died in Corrie as there was no other way to end it.

Tasha Cohen. The actor, Anne Kirkbride took time off back in October 2013 because her cancer came back after it disappeared in the 90's. The doctors tried to get rid of it. But in January 2015, she was due to go back to filming, which was the month of the NTA's at the 02 arena. But because the producer's of the soap never heard back from her, it was her family who had to tell them about her sudden death. Her cancer was very private from the rest of the world. This brings back a VERY tough memory for me.
A close colleague at work died of a heart attack. My manager told me as part of the management team but I was not to tell any of the working staff during the day, he waited until the close of shift to tell them all. I had to get through that day with a smile on my face for the customers while trying not to burst into tears. It still hurts thinking about it.

They 'v been co stars for many many years ' even before their first on screen marrage when she was married to Ray Langton ' then came her affair with Mike Baldwin ' that was one of the best story lines I recall from my youthfull Corrie era ' great cliffhanger.

very emotional this, thanks for the upload, a great character aswell as Annie Kirkbride, loved all the sketches stories she has been in for many years and the changes of appearances of Hair styles and glasses, Corrie today still has a big dent without Dierdre imo and hope each and every year in the soap Deirdre gets mentioned, R.I.P

In true life this is the hardest thing to have to do, joy at a birth or wedding but so much sadness at a death of a valued friend and having to tell people. It still stuns me we lost a loved daughter of 34 years and now 2 years gone it was one of the hardest days of our lives

For me it was Kate Ford aka Tracey's crying at 3:45 that made the scene-she seemed in genuine pain and agony there. Outstanding performance.

Having been told my mother was dead in a very similar way, this feels quite real... How Tracy can't understand the word "dead" and then breaks down. It was like that when my sister broke the news to me.
I have saw this one it is very sad too. I have lost someone. Aswell. To brain cancer and i have found him. Died it was shock to me when he pass away. I miss him so much and i miss him a lot too he has help me. Through things and he help me with things aswell. And my daughter. Too. .

Plus she always used to talk to me and my mum and dad when we walked our dogs down her road. A lovely lady. Rest in peace Anne

I think Steve was a good choice to comfort Ken in the ginnel as they go right back to when Ken taught him at Weatherfield Comp - remember the pirate radio storyline in the early ‘90s when he and Andy mocked him on their show.

Still remember the day Deirdre died, it was so sad... She was a great actress, so many happy memories of "Ken, do something!" and of course her famous stuffed marrow. Interesting Audrey was there, this was when her and Ken were going to get together but they changed mind about this.
Even watching this in 2020 and knowing this for years I still have tears running down my face. Been watching 35+ years, the characters are like family. Saw a great compilation "Corrie Kids" I think it was called. Anne Kirkbride and Dawn Acton (the first Tracy) hugging like actual Mom and daughter that was separated. It was very touching . It will be interesting in a few months to see who they kill off from Covid 19.

Victoria Wyndham who played Rachel #3 on Another World from 1972-1999 when the Show got cancelled. Then there was Kathryn Hays who played Kim Hughes on As The World Turns from 1972-2010 when the Show got cancelled. She worked with Julianne Moore who played Two Characters. Her Niece Frannie and her long lost Daughter Sabrina.
A tragic hang-gliding accident made worse by the fact that Deirdre was playing saxophone at the same time. Trigger was absolutely right - 'Look after your broom!'
