    This really helps. Costco shouldn’t sell this at the beginning given it is ridiculously hard to clean.

    Your video helped me get the device opened, however, I received the humidifier second hand and the tube was full of mold. To really get it clean, you need to remove the tube section (we'll call it TS) by removing the two screws at the base of the TS in front of the diffuser, and the two screws at the base the TS inside, the TS is fairly easy to pull out. Then, remove the four the four screws on the TS and separate the two pieces. Make sure no screw remain in the plastic. To clean, I soaked the pieces in bleach water and used a small brush to clean the crevices. Rinse the cleaned components and let dry. Reassemble. It's unfortunate that Homedics did not make this easy to clean. I guess it's just another example of planned obsolescence.

    Superb instructions; I would never have found the hidden top screw under the port. In addition, I would have been hesitant to attempt to force the top and front apart. Thanks for making cleaning this humidifier possible.

    Can get the tube completely out. After separating front, look straight down inside. Larger screw on each side of tube. Will need long screwdriver. Remove 2 small screws in bottom of reservoir by transducer. When out, remove 4 screws on inner side to clean inside tube. Pink gunk everywhere! Circuit board exposed, so letting dry before reassemble and fill.

    Thank You! I’ve been struggling to clean the mist tube on my Homedics that I purchased from Costco in 2019. I’ve been jamming a thin brush and q-tips through the slot in the top trying to get it as clean as possible but following your video with a few variations (my model has 6 screws on the back) I was able to give it a proper cleaning. I’ve been afraid to force the rotating head off for fear of breaking it. It’s a wonder no one got ill from the gunk I removed. I can breathe easier now. lol

    First time cleaning this unit that I am using for my toddler. It’s quite amazing the amount of pink sludge/slime has built up there overtime. And it’s only been running a bit over two months. It’s incredibly difficult to clean. They should’ve made the rectangular part that says “to empty water from humidifier base, drain this way“ removable to be able to clean the inside. I’m really unsure if I’m going to keep this beyond one season. Too much effort to clean and quite. Honestly I think it will get my little one more sick if I don’t keep up with the maintenance.

    So I was missing that last screw, LOL. I did not want to break the plastic so glad I checked out youtube and your video. I am in my 70's and have had so many humidifier over the years. As a child my mom had containers of water on all the radiators plus boil water on the stove after the evening meal. Thanks for my new update. 😂😉

    This is a ridiculous design for a $100 plus humidifier. I own this thing and it's an absolute pain in the ass to clean. It's like they designed this so you couldn't thoroughly clean it and eventually having to dump it and buy a new one. Easy cleaning access to the vapor channel as well as any part that touches water should be a given for any humidifier. Recently purchased a $25 humidifier with easy access to cleaning the tank (whole top comes off) as well as the base reservoir (whole tank comes off) and you just need a bottle brush to clean the vapor channel which was also easily accessible.

    Great videos! I’m glad I found your channel because I’ve been having problems with this new humidifier I got a few months ago. Have you experienced the bottom of this model leaking out water? If so- do you know if it can be fixed at home? Thanks again!

      it will leak if you put too much water in the tank. fill it up to 2 inches from the top. If it still leaks return to costco

    Is there an easier way to scrub the tube rather than try to roll a paper towel in there? When I get some vinegar on the paper towel it just clams up together and can only maybe stick to one side.

    I am really fed up with the Homedics humidifier. It is cleaned. When I plug it up it might run for 2 hours or 10 minutes and then it cuts off. I unplug and wait and plug up again and it might or might not come on. I keep trying and then it might come on and then turn off when it wants to. My doctor told me to get a crock pot and keep it in my bedroom but I had to be fancy. I read a comment that thinks it is a piece of junk and I might have to agree since this is the second one I purchased after returning the first one. Great video though..

    • @addismultitasking3504
      @addismultitasking3504  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Its suppose to turn on and off as needed, unless you have it on CO, only then
      will it run constantly. If you set it to 55%, it will turn on and off to keep the room at that level. If you have furniture near it it will block the mist creating a false reading and it will shut off.

    Homedics brand in my experience is cheap junk. They simply do not last. The more features the more problematic. Our new Homedics ($90) from Costco lasted 3 months. Then it stopped working. We have an old Vicks unit for many years. It is simple. Fill it, clean it weekly, turn it on. It just keeps working.

  • @jimbass2127

    Excellent instructions. But what a dumb design to require so much effort for a simple machine. I got stuck when the black gasket atop the mist tube kept getting knocked off by the plastic housing. I even tried super gluing the gasket to hold it in place. No luck. I am a handy guy with all the tools on hand, but have never been so frustrated. I may trash this and buy a different brand. That said, thank you for the time you put into this video.

    I cannot understand why homedcs designed it that way. It is so unsanitary and will not last if amateurs like me will keep messing with the screws and force it open. I bought this piece at costco and paid $80. This is the most expensive humidifier i ever bought. It did not occur to me that design would be so flawed. Access to all parts to clean it should be a given. I will avoid this brand for the future.
