Wow! After watching your video and cleaning my humidifier unit, there was a noticeable difference on how the vapor/mist looks. Amazing, truly! Thank you
I didn’t think about using the water and vinegar cleanse each week in the tank, thanks for that! We have this humidifier as well and use it often. We also since have purchased the homedics ultra sonic humidifier and love it, we got two! Just a recommendation for another. All the best.
@@Tech4Baba I shall!!! Thanks. I also got a bloody nose before work one morning. Went to work, they sent me home. Went to the doctor and she recommended a cool mist humidifier. And that's how I got started!!!!
Thank you very much this was awesome! I have a home medics humidifier it’s black and I love it! The clean light just came on and I wasn’t sure how to fix it, thank you for this video
I bought this just today as my 2nd HoMedics Humidifier so I don't have to keep transferring from my bedroom to the living room. It was confusing at first because its refill is from the bottom of each tank than the top of my current HoMedics Humidifier. That's easier to use but this is sleeker and maybe a bit smaller in capacity. Thanks for the tips!
Thanks for watching and asking, Grace! No, I don't have issues with the warm setting. You may want to contact HoMedics support for help. Hope it can be fixed!
How do you clean the dispersion tube which emits the moisture? Upon close inspection one can see some mold buildup in the tube over time, but there is no easy way to remove the top of the tube to access.
Thank you for the video ! What if the red clean light is still on ? I had mine in the closet for a year and it’s been like that after I cleaned with viniste and water twice 😣 please don’t tell me it’s going to trash 😭
No, it doesn't need to go to trash. The clean light has to be reset manually after cleaning. If you haven't already tired, you can check it out towards the end of my video. Thanks for watching, Dikla! Stay well!
So is there ever a thought to a redesign so that the mist tube could come apart and be cleaned?? I love this humidifier and it has worked well but it is a pain to clean. Pink mold forms and I now have a collection of tiny brushes, pipe cleaners and long handled thingies to keep it clean. My 97 year old mother needs a humidifier but I'm not buying one of these although it works so well. I have had mine for 3 years and it seems you are still getting the same question. Redesign is in order!
Agree, wish the entire mist path can be cleaned on this one. Thanks for watching and sharing, jbowmanj! Let us know if you find a better model. Stay well!
That's very nice that you can clean the membrane what about the tube that goes from the membrane up to where the steam comes out which is full of black mold
Good question, Chris! The tube is difficult to clean. I've heard small tube brushes like these with the same 50/50 vinegar mixture may work, amzn.to/39vVsLo. Thanks for watching, Chris! Stay safe.
My humidifier is new and the clean light came on for the first time. I followed all of your very good directions - but the red light will not go off. Could this mean I didn't clean the membrane correctly? Is it safe to run the machine with the red light on? Your directions were very clear and easy to follow. Thank you! RC
Glad to hear. Thanks for watching, Rozanne! The clean light needs to be cleared manually after cleaning. You can hold down the Power button for more than 3 seconds to clear it. Stay safe.
Hi I had a question about cleaning the spout part of the humidifier. I noticed pink also around the top opening of where the mist comes out. I know there is also pink inside the whole long part. Is there a way to clean it or is it time to get rid of it?
I've done this and mine still is only producing about 10 percent of what it used to did I let it stay dirty for too long? Did I let ot run dry to many times?
Good point, Angela.Yes, the vent where the mist comes out can be wiped down with the the same solution and water as well. Thanks for watching, Angela! Stay safe.
@@Tech4Baba I've had mine for almost a year now and even with weekly cleaning that tube where the mist comes out looks horrible. I can't seem to find any way to clean it out. Think it's going back!!
Actually, I too was looking for an answer to this. I had to take the entire thing apart, all screws, electronics, not too difficult for your average joe, but it is a lot of time consuming work and quite taxing if needed to be done every month. After running it for almost 2 months now, I can tell you that there was a thick slimy film along the tubes wall. The design is actually quite horrible. Does well to humidify a room... but cleaning is not simple at all.
Perfect thank you. I’ve been using mine with the clean light on for a while now. Way overdue for cleaning. Does the vinegar make the mist smell after cleaning it?
I have 2 units at home. I am a couple of weeks late at the clean lup. One of them started blowing the mist so weak even at maximum. I cleaned it with water and vinegar ( It already was part of my clean up process) and now I’m running it with the water+vinegar mix at warm mode. It’s still weak. I suspect it’s the channel that needs cleanup. I usually use a 3 set of small brush that we find at Dollarama to cleanup a little, but I can reach the extremities only. It would be nice if we had a way of exposing the channel to clean it up. Have found any way yet ?
@ tori croslin Good question, tori! I haven't found a good way to clean the channel so I usually just wipe around the sprout. Thanks for watching. Stay safe!
What concerns me, I have a model like this, is that Homedics did not engineer the device in such a way that I could clean that tube, that The mist exits from. That tube could grow bacteria because I can’t get to it. I see two screws at the base of the tube and next time I clean the device I’m going to see if I can get in that tube for cleaning. That tube really should be cleaned!
Agree, it'd be great if there is a good way to clean the entire path. Let us know what you find out. Thanks for watching and sharing, Patrick! Stay well.
Have you or anyone had a problem with the timer. I’ve had ours over two years and all of a sudden the timer is acting up. Whenever I try to time it for more than 2 hours it goes to a “3” or a “1” Can’t figure it out and the 800 line just keeps me on hold - can’t get a live person.
Sorry to hear about the issue you are having with the timer. No, I haven't had the same issue. Perhaps try submitting a support ticket @ www.homedics.com/customer-support/contact-us/. Good luck and thanks for watching, Mary.
There seems to be a lot of scum build up in the mist stack. I tried using a long tube cleaning brush (like a pipe clean) to scour the the stack. Do you know how the plastic top comes off? It seems this is where the bacterial scum lives, not on the membrane area.
The tube is difficult to clean. I've heard small tube brushes like these with the same 50/50 vinegar mixture may work, amzn.to/39vVsLo. Thanks for watching, Thomas! Stay safe.
I just gave up on the device and decided to tear it apart and risk destroying it due to all of the pink mold throughout. I was able to unscrew about 20 screws and pry off the front cover to get the whole thing apart and clean everything individually. What a pain in the arse.
We have a problem with ours (same unit). Occasionally, it will start to make a loud whirring noise. We've followed all troubleshooting tips and we follow maintenance procedures as given. We also use distilled water as our city water supply is very hard. Anyone else have similar issues?
anything that uses water will require regular maintenance like this. Especially, since by the very nature of the appliance, water will pool in an area that’s dark. Water gets yucky pretty quickly.
