    Want to get better at creating hard surface vehicle models? In this Maya Modeling Tutorial, I will show you common hard surface vehicle mistakes and how to fix them.
    I go thru the process of cleaning up an existing hard surface vehicle and adjusting its topology so it subdivides properly. These principles can be applied to most other 3d Modeling packages such as Blender and 3D Studio Max. Precision is key to Hard Surface Modeling in Maya and this video will focus on that.
    In this Tutorial, I will cover the following Maya Car Modeling Techniques:
    ► Creating clean topology for Hard Surface Models
    ► Creating panel line with Bevels
    ► Using Edge Slide
    ► Editing Pivots.
    ► Using Vert Snap
    This 3d Modeling tutorial is great for Maya Beginners and Advanced users alike.

    I don't know if they still start with the drawing board, but I'm definitely old enough to say that I have. Played with an early version of AutoCAD (BIG-floppy) and a little bit of "IDEAS" (at UDM, I think Ford used it at one time). A college housing bill/debt and not getting into the industry kinda left me out of the loop for a while. Learned some computer networking & web design in the meantime. But the point I'm really wanting to make is that I've gotten back into the flow with Blender. And because I understand that modeling practices transcend varieties of software makes little difference that you're using Maya (so to speak). IJS

      Yup, polygonal modeling is pretty much the same across most 3d packages.

    is the triangle always mistake and need to clean i model hard surface gun and there is too much quad and tris

    • @therealKrak
      @therealKrak 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is better if you only have quads or triangles.. as far as I know... In Warframe for example they like the modles to be triangles only

    is that body one whole mesh?? why wouldnt you break it up: hood, fender, grill, doors, etc

    • @theonlyhackman9003
      @theonlyhackman9003 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends on what the asset is required for, and whichever is quickest. For a movie where the car needs to be animated and is seen up close, then every piece would probably need to be modelled separately. For a game, it might just be used as a static mesh in the environment.

      @@askeladden450 When you model a vehicle, you model it all as a singular mesh then cut out the panels after the initial mesh has been created. this allows you to maintain good edge flow for reflections to react with light correctly.

    • @digitalintent
      @digitalintent 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@askeladden450 Funny, I actually find it easier to model as much of the car as a single mesh and then separate the parts as needed. Too each their own.
