How bout just strengthen the whole core instead. But you'd still need to work the inside of your muscles, man so I've been doing it wrong. But I do vacuums all the time.

I think basically it's stomach vacuums. Tons of variations of this exercise. Look up Arnold Schwarzenegger's stomach vacuums. He was big into this.
