Reading The "Flashing D"

  • The Foxwell Elite OBDll has made a few things clear. It has also redirected me back to an old area of interest; the pressure switches. One thing is for certain, the “Flashing D” can indicate a number of problems. It’s safe to say that it’s your transmission main point of communication.

    The park neutral position switch looks like an interesting path to go down 🤔 I have a new 3rd gear sensor that I still need to install

    I think the pressure switch(s) and linear solenoid are all tied together.

    • @DIYD
      @DIYD  ปีที่แล้ว

      They are! But it can only communicate to us through the "flashing d". So, If you see it, know that your transmission is trying to tell you something is "wrong" and it doesn't have to mean that it's something catastrophic!

    Were you getting a check engine light along with the flashing D?

    • @DIYD
      @DIYD  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes. BUT there can be circumstances where they are not related. The scan tool can cut through all of that while keeping the guessing to a minimum 👍🏾

    I have some similar symptoms, I'm leaning towards the shift solenoids. Have you checked those yet? theres 2 of them for our 5 AT. One that controls the 1-4 gears and 1 that controls the 5th/OD gear?

    • @DIYD
      @DIYD  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not yet. As OEM are on the higher end to replace I'm keeping them in the back before I count on them to be the problem. But on radar as they can be the culprit. Right now we are at the fuses and a few more harnesses. Keep us updated on your end

      @@DIYD will do. You remove them and clean them out as they can get clogged. each gear has "pipe" with a inner screen. you can clean them out with brake cleaner. Also you can check the solenoids themselves with a 12v battery and checking that they are contracting properly. But thats my move soon. Junk yards have them for 100/set at least here in cali. I'll test mine before buying them..

    • @DIYD
      @DIYD  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not really ... Yet it has progressed. If it's the same problem as my own the most recent video will show you the progression. But get your codes read and make sure it's not P0705. It may be something else as I repaired two codes when I read them. I also left it at a shop a week ago but had to pick up before they could get to it. When I do it will be posted. It can't be this evasive! 🤔🤔

      Two of the codes are easy fixes. The 3rd gear pressure switch and the speed sensor. Since this comment they are no longer present. You can change them out with references from my previous video. The transmission range is the mystery. I'm still figuring. Time will tell. Baring any unseen catastrophes, I'm going to figure it out.
