Seeing the deleted scene of Michael talking to Astrid about his father really adds an extra layer of depth to that whole episode. Seeing the situation in this new light, that Michael just wanted Astrid to have a father figure in her life because he himself grew up without a father…it’s really quite a beautiful scene. I really wish the show would have delved deeper into Michael’s backstory.
And she knew that that’s why she didn’t want Michael to marry holly. She knew they would actually be a real couple and that holly would treat him the way he shoulda been treated
Michael feels more of a connection to children because he’s a child at heart. They’re innocent and honest. Love unconditional (typically) while many adults lie or see the world without that spark of imagination.

I give #1 credence because Kevin had a knack for having a sense about relationships, and it was he who alerted Michael to her pregnancy by saying “You’ve got to see this,” perhaps implying he was the baby daddy.

The fact that Jan didn’t let Michael hold Astrid was honestly pure evil. I get that she was having a hard time trusting him and all but she chose to go to the baby shower at Dunder Mifflin, she was still giving him orders (don’t date Holly), and she knew how much Michael loves kids and how excited he was to meet her baby. Evil. I really hated her more after this.
