What’s interesting to me is that while each of our core four are played by two actors, Alex is actually played by three, there’s pre-game teen Alex, in game Nick Jonas Alex, and post-game slightly altered timeline adult Colin Hanks Alex which gives the character a lot of nuance because each version of him brings something different to the role.

This movie does not take place in the present day, it obviously takes place in the past. The game is a cartridge, after all. Modern day would have the game being acquired digitally, or at the very least, the game would be on a disk instead of a cartridge.

Can we just appreciate how good this movie actually is for a sequel, they didn´t do harm to the original movie and the movie itself was original and funny. I personally liked it even more than the original and Jumanji the next level, though it might be because i´ve seen the original a bit too often.
Actually, you do have to remove the staples. The sorting and processing machines don't separate the metal from the paper, so if the machine gets clogged up, the batch being processed, especially if using Shred-It, can be linked back to the company that sent it and they will charge you a fee. It's an actual, stupid little task.

Jack black was pure gold. I could deal with the actress that played Martha, her mannerisms were at least accurate. Even The Rock I could handle, even if he didn't really portray the character that well. But Kevin Hart just pissed me off. The Rocks characters had zero weakneses but still lost life points. Ruby Whitehouse had one weaknes ( venom ) but she still lost life point from bullet which wasn't on her weakneses board.

I always just figured that the reason he can ride up the mountain on the motorcycle in the end is because climbing is still one of his abilities. But while we're talking about sins, one of the things that always irritated me about this movie is that Spencer claims to be an obsessive hardcore gamer, yet when we see him first playing Street Fighter, he's saying all of his input commands out loud and keeps having to constantly look down at the controller. No gamer anywhere EVER does either of those things.

My biggest and main issue with this movie is that in the first Jumanji, there were only 4 game pieces, meaning only 4 people could play. So why the hell, when the game upgraded, did it add a 5th player into its roster?
Maybe it's the same reason why the game only had 4 controllers. It only needed 4 players because one of the players was already stuck in the game. The game adapts itself constantly so it doesn't seem like too much of a stretch

I rewatched it the other day and I noticed that Alex says that falling where the crocodiles are is a horrible way to die but then we learn he had use the plane and the air balloon to try to escape which is weird since they only had 3 lives and he had one left at the moment.

I just have to say the two concepts never changed. Allen was stuck in Jumanji by playing the board game, to get out of the Jungle others had to finish the game. It's now a video game you're stuck in, but finish the game and you get out. Also the reason Allen was trapped is because no one was playing for so long... just like the new kid, without other people playing you can't do everything in the game to compete it.
When he mentioned the part about getting past the guards, I instantly imagined snake just crawling behind one of them, snapping third neck and dragging his body into a bush, and the other guard hearing nothing and not even noticing his partner being gone

I just want a movie about people going inside a video game to get video games right. Funny glitches, lag, untextured spots. But also badass action, and story. Someone falls a bit, or tries to jump over something, and ends up in that awkward glitch where you just float in the air above it, unable to get out. You bump an NPC and they go inside a wall. Someone starts rubber-banding all over the place from random lag-spike, or just starts seeing everything like a flipbook. And then actually get game logic right. NPC reactions, game designs, etc.

The drums that beat to lure kids to play, changing itself to be the type of game a kid actually wants to play, etc etc. there’s a ton of evidence supporting this. My question is WHY?! Is it bored? Is it feeding on their fear/adrenaline/delicious tears of utter despair? Did it lose a bet with another trans-dimensional sentient being and as a result had to become a game and lure in kids until some set of conditions has been met? Like someone finally dies, or X amount of people beat the game, or whatever conditions trans-dimensional sentient beings would set. It just raises a lot of questions as to why something with such awesome magical powers would do this in the first place.
Everything I remember from the books seem to indicate that the game is sentient, and knows that it is a game and that it needs to be played. Thus it lures people in with the drums, or other methods. For example, it changes from a jungle adventure game into a space exploring game (Zathura, (which was a 2005 Jon Favreau movie) when the kids next door find the game left at the park after the events in Jumanji. The game just seems to want to be played, and to make the game interesting it summons entitys or pulls you into the game. Other than just the feeling of being used, it does not seem as though there is any other reason for what the game does.
10:42 - XD "Bethany" tossing her hair. That's the kind of hilarious, in-character little details that not only make you laugh when you catch them, but also help you immerse into the 'verse. It's a subtle in-the-background thing, but it's great. Like Elrond's expression when he, for lack of a better term, "gives away" Arwen to Aragorn in RotK; it's not what your main focus is on, but it's a nice touch, going the extra mile.
Just a comment about the cheating: why not just say you were helping Fridge with his papers? Tutoring, and you gave him some sentences to use? I get that without them getting in trouble the whole plot would fall apart but come on.

Actually, you do have to remove the staples. The sorting and processing machines don't separate the metal from the paper, so if the machine gets clogged up, the batch being processed, especially if using Shred-It, can be linked back to the company that sent it and they will charge you a fee. It's an actual, stupid little task.

Jack black was pure gold. I could deal with the actress that played Martha, her mannerisms were at least accurate. Even The Rock I could handle, even if he didn't really portray the character that well. But Kevin Hart just pissed me off. He literally just played himself, the same character that he's played movie after movie after movie. He seemed nothing like Fridge whatsoever.

I always just figured that the reason he can ride up the mountain on the motorcycle in the end is because climbing is still one of his abilities.
But while we're talking about sins, one of the things that always irritated me about this movie is that Spencer claims to be an obsessive hardcore gamer, yet when we see him first playing Street Fighter, he's saying all of his input commands out loud and keeps having to constantly look down at the controller. No gamer anywhere EVER does either of those things.

4:32 I'd say that finding strangers at a party is a different concept to transporting from a classroom to f-ing *jungle* where the nearest people are strangers.
My biggest and main issue with this movie is that in the first Jumanji, there were only 4 game pieces, meaning only 4 people could play. So why the hell, when the game upgraded, did it add a 5th player into its roster?
Maybe it's the same reason why the game only had 4 controllers. It only needed 4 players because one of the players was already stuck in the game. The game adapts itself constantly so it doesn't seem like too much of a stretch

I rewatched it the other day and I noticed that Alex says that falling where the crocodiles are is a horrible way to die but then we learn he had use the plane and the air balloon to try to escape which is weird since they only had 3 lives and he had one left at the moment.

My sister and I were three years apart in school and my English teacher for my senior paper, looked back at my sisters paper from three years priior to verify I didn't plagiarize her paper in the 80s.
Yeah, they really do that. Some teachers are cynical and expect you to be exactly the same kind of student as your sibling or they just expect their students to cheat or if a metaphor comes up that often in a student's papers, they are going to notice.
My World Literature teacher claimed my best friend's original short story was made up because he said he was an expert in recognizing writing style and he could tell that I'd written her paper, which I hadn't even read. I was like, what a pretentious douche.

I just have to say the two concepts never changed.
Allen was stuck in Jumanji by playing the board game, to get out of the Jungle others had to finish the game. It's now a video game you're stuck in, but finish the game and you get out.
Also the reason Allen was trapped is because no one was playing for so long... just like the new kid, without other people playing you can't do everything in the game to compete it.
When he mentioned the part about getting past the guards, I instantly imagined snake just crawling behind one of them, snapping third neck and dragging his body into a bush, and the other guard hearing nothing and not even noticing his partner being gone

Funny glitches, lag, untextured spots. But also badass action, and story.
Someone falls a bit, or tries to jump over something, and ends up in that awkward glitch where you just float in the air above it, unable to get out. You bump an NPC and they go inside a wall. Someone starts rubber-banding all over the place from random lag-spike, or just starts seeing everything like a flipbook.
And then actually get game logic right. NPC reactions, game designs, etc.
Don't forget about clipping through the floor and endlessly falling!
And random crashes and mod support!
Save points and cheat codes too!
Fun Fact : Seaplane was supposed to be played by Tom Holland but he was too busy with homecoming. Glad he made that choice

I absolutely agree with your theory. The drums that beat to lure kids to play, changing itself to be the type of game a kid actually wants to play, etc etc. there’s a ton of evidence supporting this. My question is WHY?! Is it bored? Is it feeding on their fear/adrenaline/delicious tears of utter despair? Did it lose a bet with another trans-dimensional sentient being and as a result had to become a game and lure in kids until some set of conditions has been met? Like someone finally dies, or X amount of people beat the game, or whatever conditions trans-dimensional sentient beings would set. It just raises a lot of questions as to why something with such awesome magical powers would do this in the first place.
So maybe it has a mortal enemy....like some kinda turtle.....

Everything I remember from the books seem to indicate that the game is sentient, and knows that it is a game and that it needs to be played. Thus it lures people in with the drums, or other methods. For example, it changes from a jungle adventure game into a space exploring game (Zathura, (which was a 2005 Jon Favreau movie) when the kids next door find the game left at the park after the events in Jumanji. The game just seems to want to be played, and to make the game interesting it summons entitys or pulls you into the game. Other than just the feeling of being used, it does not seem as though there is any other reason for what the game does.
10:42 - XD "Bethany" tossing her hair. That's the kind of hilarious, in-character little details that not only make you laugh when you catch them, but also help you immerse into the 'verse. It's a subtle in-the-background thing, but it's great. Like Elrond's expression when he, for lack of a better term, "gives away" Arwen to Aragorn in RotK; it's not what your main focus is on, but it's a nice touch, going the extra mile.

Just a comment about the cheating: why not just say you were helping Fridge with his papers? Tutoring, and you gave him some sentences to use? I get that without them getting in trouble the whole plot would fall apart but come on.
