    I am astounded you guys are still doing this series during the strike. All this will do is showcase the lack of skill of the referees you’re replacing with
    Also I like how much the VAR has to baby these refs through the process. “Make the TV signal”, carefully dictating every little thing that they are showing them, etc. nothing against the refs of course, just funny to see

      When is enough enough? Youth games pay $50 an hour. High school games refs get over $100 per game, usually a double header. Schools have cut their schedules in half because they can't afford it. People blame the parents or coaches for yelling, but you never see refs throwing them out when they're already allowed to. The real reason is that you have grifters making course requirements higher than full-time, licensed professions and local unions that do things like say you can't ref Wednesday high school games if you can't make their meetings that only happen during church on Sundays. Get the unions out and open access and you'll see what happens.

      Weren't MLS referees already being paid the contract they agreed to previously? I'm pretty sure that MLS made a good faith offer during the current negotiations. Honestly? MLS referees complaining about their salary is like listening to teachers complain about theirs. I mean, The salary scale isn't a secret. There's no bait and switch. Why go into a field of work that you know what the salary is, and then complain about the salary?

      They are getting paid...the ones on the field working that is. Not the whiny losers who think they are making a statement. Making a statement so that now I know which ones to boo and heckle extra hard at when they actually get back to their real jobs. If you wanted to be paid more, do it in the offseason. Not literally snubbing your nose at a great offer literally on the eve of the new season. That is just shitty negotiation.

    I wonder why it was such a busy opening week? Maybe if you paid the referees what they’re asking instead of hiring scabs you wouldn’t need 3x the normal VAR checks and have a red card rescinded in the first week.

    • @Not_a_smart_man
      @Not_a_smart_man 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      The thing is though, MLS fans don’t care and honestly aren’t even really noticing the difference in performance. 2-3x as many VAR reviews as normal, but all the fans see is the call being fixed anyway, so the end result is all that matters.
      Also, don’t act like red cards were never rescinded with the normal referees, you can’t really hold that against the replacements. But the extremely numerous offside reviews needed because the replacement ARs aren’t as good with offside, that you can call out

    • @Skamhes
      @Skamhes 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Not_a_smart_man but those 3-4X as many VAR reviews are just the calls that were reviewable and would strongly indicate that many more non-reviewable decisions were missed (which they were).

    Greg, i’ve been a fan of this show for its transparency since the beginning, but it’s unconscionable that you continue to work with PRO as they hire replacement referees to do high-level matches while the ACTUAL professional referees are striking for fair working conditions. As a referee myself, I want to see a future where referees can ACTUALLY do this field as a full-time job. I want referees to be respected and full trained at the highest level. When this show was first introduced, I thought PRO was working towards that goal. Now, I’m not so sure. PRO, pay your fucking refs!

    • @Chat562

      Do you know where a lot of these former professional referees are coming from? They had to move for work or family but their new state association either ignored their transfer request or demoted them back to the lowest rank even if they met all the requirements to keep their rank. US Soccer policy is you get an automatic transfer, but instead of doing their jobs, the state associations act like unions trying to keep out people that are "taking their jobs." Why wouldn't or shouldn't these referees want to come back?
