- The Maus in War Thunder was once the top tank in the game. Today I tried it to see how it fairs up in 2022!
The Maus is the heaviest tank in the entire game right up to this day. It's also the most heavily armoured tank in the game when you don't factor in composite armour or ERA / NERA. This makes it incredibly effective at angling even against some of the most dangerous rounds in War Thunder.

@@e1x_ipredator189Nope. yesterday I survived 2 minutes immobilized and surrounded by an AMX and an M48 shooting at close range. only one shot from the m48 penetrated and killed 2 crew members. but in the end I survived, I destroyed them both and in the end I got my 3rd nuke in 6 years of playing!
Ah yes, my favorite thing: enemies that are clearly sitting in sight, not rendering til you stare at them for about five seconds.
A good point about using this tank....though he didn't get as many kills and lacked a bit of mobility, the very fact he was able to soak a whole ton of shots during matches meant that those shots were not killing his teammates. At one point he locked down the hillside. It is an underrated aspect of the game.

The Maus does need to be added back fully as I do believe it can be balanced at 7.7, it just needs to be played properly and smartly. I really want to have it, mainly just for the hell of it, but also I would feel special having such an infamous tank.
You just have to log on now and then and you will be able to unlock it. They put it in the game sometimes to be researched so you can unlock it.
maus work . i see player beat is7 1vs 1 whit it , is hard to play and need to play it smart and know to angle turret and hull but once you do it stop almost all round

Second of all there are already hundreds or thousands of recordings of war crimes committed by russian army on Ukraine soil (being reordered basically everyday, like yesterday attack on civilians Kiev), third of all I don't hate Russia - I hate russian government. Finally - I only hope that after russia finally runs away from Ukraine there will be an international tribunal , then I'd like to come back to this discussion. But then again it may be difficult to talk to russian trolls. So yes, "Z" is equal to swastika.

I played Maus against full uptier recently. 3 of us in a squad. Tanked a total 12 Mi-4 ATGMs & proceed to push their spawn in Fields of Poland, didn't even die 🤣🤣🤣
I love your commentary on how you think you're going to get shot up but then they either bounce one (or a couple) off of you or miss all together. Then you finish them off. You're really good at War Thunder and it shows with the Maus where a lot of the enemy players bounce them off you because of your good angling and position. I myself have trouble beyond 4.0 battles, so istick to 1.0 to 3.5. With regards to the Maus it's driving and handling are a bit atrocious but then again anything would drive and handle badly if it weighs a 100 tons or more but it's good if positioned and utilized as a heavy support/frontline assault which you do well at.
quite literally my most played German tank, aswell as my best, its better than most people say it is, its nice slow and relaxing to play, you just follow a list of things to do in the maus avoid open areas like a plague use manual gear controls to turn on the spot ect.
well play is a monster most people play it like a moron and dont angled or when they do they keep facing the enemy and getting slap in the turret cheek . turret should be angled as well . when you do anything that is not apds or heat cannot pen you , and the mobility is slow but is not that bad , and the gun is awsome . have enough pen to be able to kill almost any target and it one shot everytime , i use the jagtiger shell not the 88 sabots . because of the reduce after pen damage it dont one shot as often

Like, when I started playing the game I was mad bc everyone could pen the Tiger frontally, but now that I learned how to angle it became one of the best tanks in the game. There are a lot of stupid players who don't get past that point and just mash their heads against a brick wall
@@ihatehandleupdate no , tiger 1 can be oen even if angled by some powerfull gun and even a sherman can kill you when you angled , the only tank like this is the maus . The jagtiger is also a bit like that but the cheek can be pen by some powerfull gun at shirt range too
@@TheJimyyy I didn't mean they become invincible once angled, just that their defensive capabilities grow by a huge amount. If the enemy player is stupid enough to not know the weakpoints, you have a much bigger reaction window for shooting them down

You can still research the Maus it if you invest even just 1 RP into it during the anniversary or back when it was available in the TT. also congrats, seems like a fun memey tank, Im gonna try to get it this anniversary if it's available. My favorite part of using the maus is taking my ww2 super heavy spending 5 min getting to the cap and then getting slammed by a bradly's tow
Your mistake is heading anywhere near the cap. Maus is a flanking tank. No one expects it to be there.

If you don't get bombed or HEATFSed Maus is very good. Under optimal conditions (downtier, vs USA/USSR/France so mostly conventional rounds, no bombers, small map) i even managed to drop a nuke with it a week ago, which is not something i do regularly neither it was my second ever nuke. So yeah i agree it has some potential even at it's stupid high BR
I managed to get a nuke in the jagdtiger a few weeks ago. Helped that it was a full downtier, but I still think it's an achievement within itself.

even in a downtier, m48s can kill it easily, along with any atgm vehicle, the days of the armor meta re seriously over
@@Fallenking223 it was still pretty dang difficult tbh, I was playing out of my mind.
I think the biggest part however is that my teammates didn't actually do anything except camp on a sniper hill, so I was the one capping zones and stuff in a jagdtiger.

I honestly had fun grinding for the maus and spading it, I know it was removed for the struggle it had in matches, but when it's a good match you get a lot of kills.
It's one of those tanks that's only good in same tier / downtiers. Like the Doom Turtle, I never spawn it in unless the tier is good..
I just get it and ufff i get 3 kills with maus and was awesome I hope Gaying remowe planes xD i hate them so much haha

I got into a brawl with the Maus with my T95 and after a back and forth shooting out each others barrels I finally got the perfect shot through his smaller gun and killed him. He was wrecking our team. I had to save that video. One of my best games ever!
Every Maus player I've encountered was bad at angling, and I ammorack through the front turret, so ez with high pen

maus is a great tank at 7.7 problem is there is such a high skill floor and the skill ceiling isnt too much higher being able to absorb so many hits with little to no damage is a great feeling to me and it sometimes can take half the match to get through the armor

HEATFS being available at such low BR's has really made heavily armored tanks partially obsolete. You drive the lumbering beast for a decade to the battle, just to be lolpenned by 30 HEATFS rounds at once.
I think the mythical 128mm APHE shell with 300mm pen, 1200m/s velocity and Cremation level TNT is still good today.

i dunno about war thunder, but in WoT years ago the Maus was up there if you knew how to play it. the biggest drawback was you could not get it damaged, with premio account and say got 6 kills, but you maus got destoryed, your rewards would still be negative after re-arming and repairing it. its a money pit

I spaded the Maus last year. God it was pure hell dealing with helis and atgm tanks. Then gaijin kicks it in the maus nuts again with a 10,000+ repair cost
5-6 years in and I still dont have the Maus, probably should get it out the way😂

The biggest issue that I have with the Maus is the repair cost, about 9-10K SL in RB. This means if I want to play the tank without going minus I have to get about three kills, not die or wait like nine days for the free repair. Those are my options, or buy premium.... Oh..... I see..... DAMN YOU GAAAAIJINNNNNN!!!!!!
Tbh tho, I think it's genuinely one of the most fun tanks to play, it's just the repair cost that make it less fun.

Ya know, people always hate on the Maus saying that's it's useless, but if your a defensive player like me, it's perfect. You won't win charging balls-to-the-wall but taking your time and maintaining safe cover makes it perfect for sniping and for holding points.

I really can't understand why gaijin can't lower this thing to 7.3... There are plenty of things that can kill it at that br with heat-fs and atgm's.. Aim for barrel and tracks if, if a else fails there's always CAS
Hell there’s things at 6,0 that can kill it so 7,3 is probably a better br for it than 7,7.

The thing about the Maus is... Its even fun when you cant shoot anything because your barrells are destroyed. Its just fun to sit around, just turn your turret slightly and see everything just bounce... Once sat on b for solid 5 minutes till 4 tanks could kill me.
i did something like that yesterday lol two apds shooter trying to kill me take around 5 minute and only because i angled my turret too much so one of them pen on the side . i got kill by my mistake lol but they bounce pretty much everything track and gun was dead so i could not return fire sadly

Maus should be 8.0 and a lot of things it face should be far higher. Decompress, not compress. The maus is not underpowered whatsoever, heavy tanks should suffer in uptiers and ultra-heavies should suffer even more.

I’ve killed 5 maus’ so far, used the Pershing’s 90mm cannon, and the m18’s 76.2mm gun twice
Last I checked I was halfway to researching the Maus.. I plan to never use it in battle except for custom matches with friends as a meme without telling them I have it >:)
If you want it to actually perform semi-decent and be able to kill things, as well as repair n whatnot, then you should take it into battle and spade it
i nuked alaska ground zero in the maus the other day in a full uptier. the maus is my favorite vehicle and is. and always wil be. my nr-1 ranking german vehicle both personally and stat wise

The one time I got a nuke was with the Maus. Couldn't reach the battlefield in time though...
I think the MAUS can be balanced by limiting its uptiering to 8.0 or 8.3 while keeping it at 7.7. With a proper lineup to support this, so 7.0 or 7.3 vehicles. This could also be implemented to other vehicles, but this should only be done with a small number of vehicles to not mess up the matchmaker. This would act as if it was a top-tier vehicle that doesn't get full uptiers.

If you play it rights it amazing. Had a game on advance to the Rhine where I got seven kills and I was soaking up shots and ATGMs like nothing. Clearly the snail was on my side.
the Maus is why I started playing and many years latter I still don't have it.... I really hope they bring it back!
This Fall or Winter Gaijin should repeat their Maus event, in which you have all the time in the world to invest one - that's right, one - research point on it, and then you can research it at your leisure.
That's what they did last Fall, so I don't see why it won't happen again this year.

@@Ballissle I literally paid like $50 last year because I couldn't unlock the tech tree in time so I bought them right before the end. Annoying to have to buy tt vehicles but it got me the Maus. It's the only reason I play Germany.

In a lot of games when I use mine I end up pretending I am playing a tank class in an mmo, be very distracting and go for damage mitigation in the hopes my nearby team mates can deal with the enemies while they are focused on me lol.
The maus may be slow but it offers high protection and firepower.
