      Does it matter eARC is 60Hz? If you have receiver you can connect stuff to that and get audio straight and send picture to 120Hz port to TV. In this case eARC is only used for TV internal apps and tuner to send signal back to AVR. If TV has multiple HDMI 2.1 inputs, I would see 60 Hz eARC as negative but it only has one so that is not the issue but that it only has one hdmi 2.1 port in first place. Is my thinking correct?

    • @yeshnil3723
      @yeshnil3723 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There's only 1 HDMI2.1 port. You can double check this against the official spec sheet on Samsung's site.
      The eArc port is 2.0. eArc is part of the 2.1 standard, but its still 'allowed' on 2.0. That's why the eArc HDMI output is 60hz.

    • @Da-iken
      @Da-iken 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The ADS verisons have less dse in general and better colors and no black smearing like VAs. So together with mini led ADS/IPS is good. Only without local dimming IPS is not usable as a TV imo.

    Super helpful video. Enjoyed all the information you provided and helped us decide on which TV we should buy. This one should be future proof for us for several years with the 4k 120hz option for a future media pc build out to take advantage of this. Will the 2.0 eARC still work for surround sound output with HDR videos?

    Well done. My old 50" (45 diag) Samsung which I love, has finally started to die so I am on a search for a replacement 55" Samsung. Price point for me is about $1200. Right now I am trying to see if NEO is something I need to consider and it seems like it is. One advantage I have is it's just for me and straight on viewing only so I don't need any tech to improve angled viewing and I have a good sound system. Although having some better on-board sound would be a plus since I use my TV speakers about 95% of the time. Anyway, this really helped me on my search. Thanks man.

    Just done ordering the Samsung Neo qled QN85A in "65, and I can't wait to compare it to the previous one I had which was a hisense 2020 version (it had incredible colours that popped, and inbuilt speakers that together offered an incredible cinematic experience).
    Alas it had memory issue further down the line (memory full error) so we had to replace it with this TV.
    I'm hoping this will be an upgrade and beat the hisense one but one way to find out.
    Thanks for the video mate.

    Excellent video Steve. Like the TU7000 it was this video that helped the wife and I order the 65inch QN85A and it should arrive in about 2 weeks or so. This is IT for tv's for a long long time for as I feel with this tv I have now the best of both worlds. I will have this awesome LED tv along with my LG B10 OLED. So I am set for the forseeable future. I have done ALOT of reading up and studying this tv as I did with my OLED and I feel we made the right choice on this baby. What sealed it was your review and going to see the QN85A up close and personal at my local BB. What's going to be fun and interesting is when I do my own tv shoot out between my B10 and my QN85A!!! That being said. Again great review Steve and thanks again for helping me decide to get this beautiful tv from Samsung.

  • @nhernan156
    @nhernan156 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi tech Steve,
    I currently own a Sony 65 in x930 for 4yrs now.
    I know you said you're not a big gamer but I was fortunate enough to get my hands on a Xbox series X. I'm a quadriplegic (spinal injury since I was 17 but still a gamer 😂) and I get around to the best buys of the world but I'm looking to upgrade to a 75in with 120hz, 2.1 HDMI to go along with my Sonos arc soundbar, subwoofer and sl surrounds. Sonos sounds awesome in my bedroom and I need more than one 2.1 port and e-arc for Dolby Atmos gaming. The biggest concern I have is black levels and price. I was possibly thinking about going with an LG 77in OLED or maybe even a Samsung this time around.
    I realize no one can compete with oleds regarding black levels, but how is this neo qled technology when it comes to black levels?
    Keep up the great work!
    Nick

However on static screens, and apparently in "Movie" mode, the back-lighting doesn't seem to kick like it should which is where I think some of the contrast level complaints may be stemming from.

    In 2021 they REMOVED multiview from all their entry level tvs!
    And they added multiview 2.0 into their q70a and greater tvs. (Q60a i think still have multiview 1.0).

    Samsung remote control question: I just purchased a NEO QLED QN85A, great TV but a terrible remote (why do manufacturers make their remotes smaller as they add more features to the TV?). I am looking for an app that i can put on my seldom used Galaxy Tab E which is always plugged in next to my TV. I do not want to put it on my iPhone because it drains the battery too quickly. The app should be able to take advantage of the extended screen size on the tablet in order to manipulate ALL of the TV's functions. Also, the TV is directly connected to my house network via cable - not WIFI but the tablet is WIFI. Will that make a difference? Thanks for any advice you might have.

    • @TechSteve
      @TechSteve  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can screen mirror but HDMI is the best way. There’s a feature called WiFi direct so you can play around with that. I bought this remote for $8 and it works great as a 2nd controller amzn.to/3swG5LV

    The biggest purchase mistake I have made to date! The promised function of the Q-Symphony feature just does not work! A complete waste of money! When I contacted Samsung for assistance they said it was never designed to work with both the TV and the Soundbar at the same time as advertised. When you turn off the TV the setting for the sound reverts back to the soundbar only. I would never spend the extra money for what was to be a high end soundbar and tv.
