Man, if life hasn't been fun all this time and only the 80s were good, I feel for you. I'm 53, it's been fun this whole time. Yes it has changed, were not young and full of energy anymore, where everything is a new experience. Yes it's had it's ups and downs but if you aren't still living now, having fun with what you got, then you are missing out.
I was in my young 20's when this came out. Oh my god Jennifer Connelly. The most beautiful woman I have ever seen. Now I'm 61. To the younger generation. You have no idea how fast life is once you responsibilities start. Make the best of your young years.

We have arrived in the future. When I first heard this song it was the summer of 1982 and oh were we once young! Forty two years ago this song gave me hope for all humanity. Thank you Flock of Seagulls and thank you Prague Philharmonic Orchestra!
This is probably my favorite song from being a teenager back in the 80s. And now to hear it at 51 in such a beautiful arrangement....my heart is filled with happiness! Such memories!
I think it's Mike's band these days and he has other musicians playing with him,he calls the shots and it's a pity because the original boys look well up for it.
If you're old enough to remember the original, you can't help but grin all the way through this... I was the same age as them then, and the same age now.
Well put sir. I remember them well and this was one of my favorite tunes, simple yet perfect. Also you are correct about another thing, I am still smiling. This song takes me back.
The grammy they won for this version was well deserved. It's an incredibly beautiful song and I cannot believe it's 40 years old. I was in middle school when their hit Wishing ( I had a photograph) made its way onto the USA's airwaves and I've thanked the band ( in my heart and soul) every single day since then. Those of us who were blessed to be at the age when music was becoming just as influential to who we'd become as the hormones that were kicking in. My 80s musical taste comprised of the iconic sounds of New Wave, Punk, New Romantic, and Death Rock which all became part of my DNA. I am unapologetically proud to say that I am a card-carrying Gen Xer. I cannot wait to see you in February 2023!!
Yep and I ran was probably the only song that most degenerates remember from this crew. I'm 49 and Bald like the rest of them. That doesn't have anything to do with shit, just saying
I was on board with the band from the beginning and got all their albums through the Columbia House club. As much as I loved all their previous work, *The Story Of A Young Heart* is there opus that I adored.
I was born in 65, and am 53 now and I still love it. It was 1982, I was 16 and we had just got cable. There was a new station everyone was talking about called MTV. No one knew what a video was, and they blew our minds. We would have party's where everyone would hang out just to see all the new videos that were coming out on this brand new video channel. Some cold tops, a little smoke, and beautiful girls. Oh those were the times! We hooked up the tv/cable to the Pioneer home stereo and had a concert every night. That's where we saw all these wonderful new bands like Flock of Seagulls, Men at work, Adam Ant, ect....ect...
I was born in 2002 and i helluva love a flock of seagulls, as well as this video!.. Literally all the albums the original members established and composed were a masterpiece. Considering the 80s was golden.. this band is my #1 favorite.
@@makypine4829 My respects to you, nowadays most of the music that trends worldwide is trash music (IMO), It's great to find teens that love music from when the world was a great place to live
This is glorious! I got really choked up watching it. I miss my youth and I miss the 80's. Happiest time of my life. Thank you for posting this. I love you guys
Absolutely brilliant performance - the song is timeless and brings you back to more youthful times ... wow ... I'm getting old but listening to this I don't feel it
I think that guitar is the guitar he bought for the bands reunited show in about 2003. He had no electric guitars at the time of the Bands Reunited show, only acoustics. He had sold off that beautiful Kramer metal neck guitar years prior and all electric guitars. He was doing acoustic finger style or jazz guitar gigs in Liverpool. For bands reunited he bought a beautiful Fender Strat electric guitar which I think is the one he is playing here. Excellent guitarist.
Truly a crime how Paul is never mentioned in the annuals of great guitarists … from ‘I Ran’ to ‘Space Age …’ & ‘The More You Love …’, iconic riffs that have stood the test of 40 years
Frank's bass playing is also underrated. You don't realize how complicated the riffs are until you start to transcribe it. Years ago I took the non verse parts of _Over The Border_ and turned it into a completely different song (at half speed.)
I was good right up until the 2:45 mark. I've always liked classical string instrumentals, and combined with my fave FoS song, it was almost too much. Kids today can only hope their music ages as well as this does, but I doubt most of it will.
I use to call Paul the boy genius , some of his live performances were spectacular ,when he was on top of his game ! This was amazing ! Me and me brother would travel a thousand miles to see them when they were in the states !
NOBODY does music like the Brits. From the Beatles to these guys in the 1980's and the Stereophonics and others in the early 2000's they're always ahead of the curve.
Paul Reynolds is such an under appreciated and under rated guitarist. His riffs made those songs. This has always been a great song. Nice to see them back together.
Listen to the Edge's guitar tone. He was definitely influenced by Paul Reynolds playing style and made a unique version of playing of his own. All musicians are influenced by someone. Honestly, it's the greatest form of flattery one can give.
Oh. My. God. This is a masterpiece. It gave me chills and brought a tear to my eyes. Still as fresh and relevant and beautiful as it was the first time I heard it.
A work of Majestic Beauty it brought tears to my eyes. Welcome Back fellas you made this 80's woman happy ! If you don't like it they're still a lot better than the Junk that passes for Music Nowadays 80's Forever !
My Mom died unexpectedly the same day you published this just last month. It's been a rough few weeks and now finding out one of my favorite bands from my childhood singing their hit today and seeing they're reuniting has brought me joy. Long Live The 80's!
At around the 2:25 mark, they really start bringing in the Orchestra and it takes things to another level. I'm listening to this for about the 20th time in a row tonight and the tears won't stop flowing. This is magic.
I hit major milestones in the 80s, getting confirmed, graduating from high school and college, then getting married in that decade, so I'm truly an 80s baby (didn't become a mom until the 90s), and I loved every delicious second of this. What a brilliant pairing of musical groups! It touched my mind and made me cry. Thanks, everyone.
For me it brings back not only first love, but being on my own at age 19, coming out, falling in love with my life partner (36 years now); the horror and sadness of the AIDS crisis in the 80s, etc......It is all wrapped up in this song, that makes me feel like I have had a great life, even though it was painful getting here (age 55). joy
Mr. BUDDY To my knowledge, the last album with the original lineup was 1984's _'The Story Of A Young Heart'._ After that, the last album with a non-original lineup was _'The Light At The End Of The World'_ which came out in the mid 90's I believe.

🤗🧡💛💟
They did, Steven!! Your sentiment is spot on!
I tear up too when I hear this song....perfect song.
Almost
Absolutely love it
All 7 billion people of this world need to hear, see, feel this.
Amanda Laggan well said the world needs more uplifting music and love in the world
TIMELESS
Feel privileged because if they did many of them wouldn't get or fell it when we listen to it
Yes this would definitely be a beautiful thing for every person to experience.
Well said Amanda :)
41 years later and I still love this song, came out when I was in high school.
Ditto
so what

We have arrived in the future. When I first heard this song it was the summer of 1982 and oh were we once young! Forty two years ago this song gave me hope for all humanity. Thank you Flock of Seagulls and thank you Prague Philharmonic Orchestra!
This is probably my favorite song from being a teenager back in the 80s. And now to hear it at 51 in such a beautiful arrangement....my heart is filled with happiness! Such memories!
Greetings Amy I recommend the song 'Where I Come From' by Robert Nix
@@redskies4530 I’ve just listened to it on your recommendation, sorry it’s rubbish 😬
@@TheFen2009 Really?I wonder where you come from?
I'm 54. Right there with you. How do they sound SO good still?
@@mikesmall626 61 They broke into the new wave while I was at university. They were awsome back then this is surreal!!!
Gentlemen...life is so short! It is an honor to see you men put your differences aside and make awesome music!
I think it's Mike's band these days and he has other musicians playing with him,he calls the shots and it's a pity because the original boys look well up for it.
I think his brother filmed his part remotely. 🤔
@@rw8733 Yeah because Ali I believe still lives in America (when Vh1 tracked him down for Bands Reunited in 2003, he was living in North Carolina).
@@gregobrien4384 Well this was filmed back in 2018. Since then, Paul suffered a stroke in early 2020 and I heard Frank has health issues himself.
If you're old enough to remember the original, you can't help but grin all the way through this... I was the same age as them then, and the same age now.
Back when he had blond hair.... I remember!
From ear to ear... :-))
Well put sir. I remember them well and this was one of my favorite tunes, simple yet perfect. Also you are correct about another thing, I am still smiling. This song takes me back.
Me too. ❤😀
That grin is from ear to ear, they still got it, and sound great.
I love this video the song and the orchrestra too
The best song from one of the most underrated bands of the '80s taken to a completely new level! What a fantastic song!
I think it took time for it to rise and for all of us to realize what great music really is.
I freaking LOVE being a Gen Xer!! The greatest Gen!
I heard this song and it made me smile. And for a little while I was feeling so young.
Thanks Mike, Ali, Frank and Paul.
Hey Rev... if you felt young inside it still means you ARE young at heart... and that’s what counts 🤗
It reminded me of my senior year of HS and the show. Thank you junior Sweethearts! You had a great number and danced superbly!
Mike is tour as a Flock of seagulls.Minus the original line up
Reverend Bones fabulous happy song
Me to bro
This song still makes me smile
EVERYBODY IN THE WORLD THAT WERE BORN BETWEEN 1970 AND 1985 SHOULD WATCH AND LOVE THIS VIDEO... THANK YOU A FLOCK OF SEAGULLS FOR SO MANY MEMORIES
How about between 1960 and now!
I was and I do
This is glorious! I got really choked up watching it. I miss my youth and I miss the 80's. Happiest time of my life. Thank you for posting this. I love you guys
It was THE best time EVER.
For sure!
This brought tears to my eyes. God take me back to those days.
i was 17 years old in 1981, there will never be so many Great Bands as there was back then, Yes the 80's were the best years.
Absolutely brilliant performance - the song is timeless and brings you back to more youthful times ... wow ... I'm getting old but listening to this I don't feel it
Life goes by quick. Thank God these men found such a beautiful song to give our world. Thank you thank you thank you!!!!
Amen. I'm 49 and had flock hair but now bald. Too much aqua net hairspray back in our prime
Flock's hair or not, we all get old. This song is TIMELESS!
Donnie Darko They look older than I would expect. Paul is maybe 57. But their sound is ageless
They look better now.
Such beautiful souls, I get tingles every time when I hear this song. Such a beautiful song 🎧 about falling in love. Heaven sent.
Es uno de los mejores guitarristas, del mundo
Su estilo es diferente se puede encasillar como(charlie burchill, simple minds o the edge de U2
Goosebumps! This brings tears to my eyes in a good way.
It made me tear up as well. Wish I had a time machine.
Such a beautiful song
I'm not the only one with tears
I was good right up until the 2:45 mark. I've always liked classical string instrumentals, and combined with my fave FoS song, it was almost too much. Kids today can only hope their music ages as well as this does, but I doubt most of it will.
like wise, so miss the 80's.
Beautiful upgrade on a beautiful song from my teens.😊awesome talent 🧠😍
63 now . Takes me back to the 80s nice trip back in time ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊Sydney Australia 🦘 14/8/2024
I accually had tears coming down my face hearing this. Brought back me being 18 again. That version is bad ass. Killer guys.
I had that urge but, fought it.
well there hairdo changed a lot since the 80s, but it is still a great band.
Made me cry also...listening to this is like riding in a time machine and being transported back to my youth... they were so under-rated.
Love it. Great to see Paul back on guitar where he should be
Agree 100% An amazing talent.
Absolutely! Wishing the band all the best!
Totally agree!
I use to call Paul the boy genius , some of his live performances were spectacular ,when he was on top of his game ! This was amazing ! Me and me brother would travel a thousand miles to see them when they were in the states !
The Last Guitar Hero Paul named this tune as well 👍🏻
They still great. Love it.
NOBODY does music like the Brits. From the Beatles to these guys in the 1980's and the Stereophonics and others in the early 2000's they're always ahead of the curve.
This makes me happy. I think they needed each other.
William Zimmerman a mi también
Amen ! Frank is just as happy and bubbly as ever !
Paul Reynolds NEVER got the recognition he should’ve!!! Sad! Extremely talented, and not on just this song!!! 2020 ❤️
Completely agree
Yes! Agree
This is 1 of the best love songs EVER written! 💚
Just when you think a great song can’t get any better!!
Paul Reynolds is such an under appreciated and under rated guitarist. His riffs made those songs. This has always been a great song. Nice to see them back together.
I think U2 nicked a bit off these guys... I want to run...listen ✌️
i agree with some of your point..but lets not get carried away..he is not 'under rated'...wish people would think a little before using that label
Perhaps not underrated, but unappreciated. Great guitar player of his era that few mention.
@@thinkFishcatchFish I could not agree more. I was sitting here thinking the same thing as i was listening to this.
Listen to the Edge's guitar tone. He was definitely influenced by Paul Reynolds playing style and made a unique version of playing of his own. All musicians are influenced by someone. Honestly, it's the greatest form of flattery one can give.
Stuff like this make life worth living.
agree!
Andy shabadoo 💗🙏
You took the words right from me mouth ! #AFOS !!
The more you live, the more you love.......
This is a great comment. And the Flock.......

My favorite part was how happy the bassist was the whole time
I think that’s the lead singers brother.

I feel very lucky to have lived in that special decade. Wondeful days.

I wish the guitar was louder. That searing lead is the real emotion in this song.
Oh. My. God. This is a masterpiece. It gave me chills and brought a tear to my eyes. Still as fresh and relevant and beautiful as it was the first time I heard it.

My Mom died unexpectedly the same day you published this just last month. It's been a rough few weeks and now finding out one of my favorite bands from my childhood singing their hit today and seeing they're reuniting has brought me joy. Long Live The 80's!

My condolences for your mother ! This music always brings us to a happy place !!
We are 50's kids - first time we heard Flock of Seagulls we were blown away!! Amazing they are still going! Phenomenal music!!
Thanks, everyone.

unclegeemus why?
unclegeemus I share that! I'm so happy. 😢
55yr old man - same!
For me it brings back not only first love, but being on my own at age 19, coming out, falling in love with my life partner (36 years now); the horror and sadness of the AIDS crisis in the 80s, etc......It is all wrapped up in this song, that makes me feel like I have had a great life, even though it was painful getting here (age 55). joy
Adolescents and young memories of great times with friends and family no longer here..
54 yrs old and for a minute thought I was 18yrs old again..
The best song ever. Time be damned. This is simply the best. Laugh, smile or cry. It’s here for us ❤️❤️❤️

#LikinSeagulls !!
A Murder Of Crows how many years has it been since they dropped their last album?
Mr. BUDDY To my knowledge, the last album with the original lineup was 1984's _'The Story Of A Young Heart'._ After that, the last album with a non-original lineup was _'The Light At The End Of The World'_ which came out in the mid 90's I believe.
A Murder Of Crows thanks for getting back to me man
Mr. BUDDY No problem.
Wow the seagulls soar once again, love this song, 80s music will never die, today's music just doesn't have it.
Desire Bloom Your right I must be old, cuz I don't understand what the Fuck you just wrote,,, my music makes me feel good,I guess I know what your music makes you feel like,, CASE CLOSED!!

I played it for bout 40 miles tonight here in VA on a hot summer night driving home....
Perfect
For just a moment... a fleeting moment... I felt like I was in my 20s again. 21 years old with my tight red striped sleeveless shirt and leather pants on. Ready for a night at Reds hearing and dancing to AFOS among other great music. Thank you for this. Thank you for all the memories.
I have just turned 70. I don’t know how I missed this the first time round, but I just love it. Wonderful to see the enjoyment on the faces of these talented old geezers.
@Paul Holloway Old? No. At this age, we know the truth of age. It's a state of mind with parts slightly older.
I look at these guys and have to look in the mirror. I'm a 56 year old man and watched these guys when we were all young together. I still love their music.
Yes ! Ali Score will be 70 this is year!💙
