Really sweet that carmighty apologized to Ren for his reaction to the crash. It's really easy to get mad at little mistakes when you're under high stress situation, which i am glad he quickly addressed it. Keep practicing Ren!
Rens should have a go on an empty lot before any barriers to get a feel for how the car behaves. Not necessarily even wet. Both of you handled the crash well. Shit happens, what's important is that you're willing to learn from your mistakes and not to be scared to try again.
Personally I prefer perspective number 1 because it's higher up and I see more of where you're actually going, but number 2 is also nice bc you can see the gauges more and stuff. 31:40

You should get a used simulator setup, it's waaay cheaper to learn that way and once you get a car in real life you will have skills already. Keep the dream going mate, it's important to follow your passion!

Of the two perspectives, number one gives a better view of the road, so I prefer it. Number two is a bit better framed, but it makes it harder to figure out what is going on outside of the car.

And I'd rather have the road be as visible as possible, without changing the perspective and loosing the context of the effort going into it. Mighty, if you get the chance, get a windshield washer bucket and pump, fill it with water, and run lines to the rear wheels to cool/make the wheels wet, it sounds counterproductive but saves you so much in tires

I just went out drifting at an event with my friend in his turbo miata 2 days ago haha. I’ve been on two ride alongs so far, and I’m honestly so addicted to drifting now that I want to make more money so I can get into it. It’s literally so much fun, and i’m glad you posted this video! My friend is a Miata junky for lack of better words, he has like 8 or 9 of them, some are turbo, some aren’t, he has one with a rotary and is about to put a V8 in one. They’re literally some of the best cars to drift, and he makes it look so easy.
I would recommend you putting the handbrake in between the shifter and steering wheel. You might think It’s personal preference, but It’s really not, It’s so your steering wheel is easily in reach after pulling the handbrake or the other way around. In 27:23 u can even see ur trying to find shortcuts and pulling it in weird ways. I would definitely recommend you put it in the middle not the side. Otherwise you did really good for ur first time irl I could comment on more things, but that was the main thing you should fix.

11:48 Mighty, If he tightened down all the bushing in the suspension without the vehicle at weight on the ground. Your bushings will get destroyed a lot quicker and will feel stiffer. Unless I'm mistaken on that, I'm no mechanic.
Thats only on rubber bushings, those looked like poly pushings. Its not important there because the metal pin in the middle can rotate without rotating the rubber/poly part of the bushing

Not sure if you've tried it yet but I recommend running grippy steers for drifting. It definitely makes a difference when I switched to them on my car. Also with your issue of spinning out when transitioning between corners, I found it helps to apply a slight bit of foot brake to stop the rotation when I flick really hard on entry. (by slight I mean a few light presses of it) I'm glad you're enjoying drifting cars irl, it's so much fun and I've been addicted to it myself so much that I have 3 drift cars now haha.

never been to an actual drift event, so it's really cool to see how it works. drifting is a pretty extreme sport, and since i generally own fwd cars, i cant exactly go play sideways. maybe at some point ill get a little throw away rwd car and build a little drift kart, since we do have some events near my city in the spring and fall im totally with you on the low car. i love having my VR6 just dumped out. but, my city has "tax cuts" and "budget cuts" and refuses to spend any money on the roads... so i gotta go up a little, since finding new oil pans for old VR6s is getting harder!
I've got to say, this is the most beautiful NA Miata I've ever seen. Not some ugly widebody, stance and chrome wheels, it's perfectly in my style. And this spoiler man, it fits perfectly.
