I've done 3 24Hr karting races, and I have to say the way those marshalls behaved was inexcusable. For the amount of money you pay to be there, they need to really check that attitude. Furthermore, penalizing you by not allowing you to take on fuel is just ridiculous. Penalties should always be time penalties, period. Furthermore, the speeding in the pit lane is ridiculous since both parties have no idea how the speed is to be checked. The company I race with states a "brisk walking pace" which is probably double what your speed was, and is still more than safe, and typically easily to interpret. The penalties for your pit lane speed were extreme too, especially given the experience level of everyone on track. Nevertheless, you guys did an incredible job, and the fact that you had the time and energy to document it this well is truly amazing.
the audacity for someone who organises this event to speak to you like that even after you give them thousands for said event, shame when people like that are in charge
That Marshall needs a slap on the mouth. You guys were absolutely robbed. With that money involved, it looks like it was ran by gangsters. That other pit crew guy was an absolute legend 👍
It would have been a lot of track limit violations to trigger a black flag so throughout practice multiple drivers in the team would have been getting warnings which eventually resulted in a black flag for the team. Once black flagged you're NOT allowed to go to the fuel bay. You have to return to the circuit first after serving the penalty. However, the fuel bay closes 10 minutes before the end of practice and if you're not in the queue you're not allowed to get fuel. It's just really unlucky to get a black flag at that precise moment and miss the refuelling window.
The thing is we were in the queue with more than enough time getting back in the pit lane (I think we purposely came in 5 or 10 min earlier than needed), but the queue was so backed up that by the time Bobby could get to the "sin bin" and do an out and in, the fuel bay was already closed. Also, it didn't make the video, but we think Bobby only had one TL warning before the black flag which is why we were all shocked that he got a black flag in the first place. We thought it was 2 or 3 warnings before penalty, and there were no others that morning from other teammates that we knew of so it was all a bit confusing tbh.
That was just poor organisation, which probably resulted in the silly amount of karts running out of fuel. Also that race director should be fired for being unprofessional.
I'm not really into karting, I have driven a kart like 2 times, but let me say that this video is like something else, probably in the top 10 videos i've ever seen, and all those hours of editing are impressive. Also Bobby is a f***ing legend. Love your channel mate, keep it up❤️

Track limits in practice is crazy!! Isn’t that the point of practice is to learn the track, and then why wouldn’t they expect that there would be people going of the track?
I was in the 2nd place finishing Sodi team. Thankfully a half decent kart. The frustration with Daytona is the overly officious officials, nonsense pitting rules and, most importantly, the variability of the karts. Its the biggest let-down vs Club100 - there is far too much variability across the fleet. Also, the new Sodi fleet are roughly 3 seconds slower than the previous fleet (whilst the Dmax karts have gotten much faster). Its a well run event generally, and i'll be back next year - but it could be even better. Then again, anything is better than the Bob Pope Memorial 24hr up at Teesside...!
