i think a lot of the bigger channels got big because they are more like "backyard" mechanics, look at goodsquad for example. they started with dirtbikes and jeeps, and now are on to AMG's and and super high end cars. same thing for matt armstrong, matt started out as a bmx rider and doing brake jobs in the parking lot of where he worked... but one thing is certain is they have charisma which goes a LONG way. stanceworks has the charisma but his builds are basically unobtainium. i honestly dont like ferrari's but that 308... sorta got me into them, its the extreme engineering behind that build that pulled me in. hell we watched him make control arms for like 4 weeks lol. its the trial and errors that keep me coming here. the fact he is able to DO an f40 even if its just the panels is super cool. them panels he has prob cost like i'd think at min 80k and max 130k but i could be way off, maybe he got them for 50k and has good budget to work with. i honestly cant WAIT to see the next video

@@AlteredCarbons Mike was just a dude in his backyard though, over a decade ago. He's built his way up to this by putting every dollar he has into the hobby and honestly more energy than a lot of people ever will put into any one thing.
That being said having been at Gridlife Laguna and talking to all the other drivers with wild builds, pretty much all of them also just started by slowly modifying their car from the basics and slowly making improvements and connections along the way. Most of them also a decade or so into the hobby. The common denominator between them (and Mike) really is just keeping at the hobby and keeping that motivation up. Mike does it by it being his livelihood and honestly the thing that makes him tick. The other drivers there did it for the love of engineering, or the love of competition, or just to see if they could.
Really was a kick in the pants to stop calling builds unobtainable when talking to guys who are racing their family sedans they took their highschool sweetheart to prom in a decade ago against McLarens and winning.

Scott managed to acquire a real 1990 F40 chassis with all the matching number spares from the same chassis, and he's going to convert it to LM spec using OEM parts.

    • @eclectic_classics

Why would he? I'm not really following his channel nor this one, but the build here is in fact going to be a kit car with some original parts, while Ratarossa would be going for the originality to the last bolt. 2 different worlds. Tbh, I don't really get the point of this build and spending crazy money of a few oem shells, for essentially a kit car. Then cutting these NOS parts up, while they could be used for a damaged real F40. In this build it will have zero relevance. But, I wish him all the success on this one and I'm curious how it will turn out to be.

While a high rev V12 would be epic, it would be a lot easier (and higher performing) to fit a high rev V8 like out of the 458 and maybe even turbo it. Not only would it be true to the original formula, it would actually be lighter and shorter.

      Okay. Fair.
When talking about quality and reliability, I think it is fairly important to live with the car. Also remember that most of what you hear, is the negative. You rarely see people write reviews or forum posts about how reliable things are.
I own everything kind of Ferrari from a 1961 to a hybrid SF90. I can surely agree that older Ferraris are moody creatures. Cars like an F355 for example can have some interesting issues. My 328 which I love to use as a daily driver is rock solid. Build quality is what I like to call funny. This because it does not upset me, it just makes me laugh. But as a driver that runs and drives incredibly well, it is bang on.
But let’s talk the modern DCT cars. I am in the category who uses my cars a lot. I put 12k km on a pista Spider in 2 months. My cars drive a lot. Since the DCT cars came out, I have had one car in for major repair. This was my GTC4Lusso. It was in fact a recall. It got a new rear transmission because there was a bad batch of transmissions from Getrag. That’s it. We are talking in the hundreds of thousands km in DCT cars. And my cats often live outside as well. My Lusso was my winter daily. It sat outside from October to April with no trickle charger o. It. My cars only sit on chargers in long term storage. When I rotate them, I drive enough that charging is never an issue. I have had more issues with Porsches and Mercedes than Ferrari.
Today I decided to try an Aston DBX as a winter daily. I fear that more than a Ferrari. But we shall see. Times have changed and so has Ferrari clients. Ferrari cannot get away with the reliability of yesterday and they don’t need to. Why build a bad car when not needed?
They get more clients if they don’t. They know this.
