- Friends, the last stanza of a poem, the last chapter of a novel, or the last lines of a play are of extraordinary significance, but only if you’ve read the whole work up to that point. Similarly, to understand the book of Revelation, the last book of the Bible, we have to attend to the great sweep of the story beginning in Genesis. The thrust of that biblical narrative-that we are meant to give God right praise, and from right praise follows right order-reaches its culmination in Christ, the Lamb who was slain, who brings the whole universe together in right praise.

And while we are talking about the abide of the Almighty-CS Lewis fairy-tale saga ends with one of the most charming descriptions of Heaven: "...we can most truly say that they lived happily ever after. But for them it was only the beginning.of the real story. All their life in this world and all their adventures in Narnia had only been the cover and the title page; now at last they were beginning Chapter One of the Great Story which no one on earth has read; which goes on forever; in which every chapter is better than the one before"

Mass is the orientation of the past(Calvary), anticipation of the future(Heaven) and celebration at present.

Very true, also speaking of this week's Gospel - the account of Jesus asking Peter, "do you love me?" three times.
Hardly an unimportant story, the epilogue of John that reminds us that, while disciples of Christ are not perfect, we are called to move forward and serve the Lord.
Speaking of "right praise," the Gospel of John reminds us we are called to express the same statement "I love you" that Jesus challenged Peter to do, rather than run from the cross.

The bishop got all fired up this week! Someday I will read Revelation, but right now I'm just past Day 70 of Bible in a Year. So grateful to Bishop Barron, Father Mike, Dennis Prager, and others (the list is growing), who help me to see all the themes and deeper layers of meaning in the Bible.
Get out of the Old Testament if that's where you started. Straight to New Testament and Gospels and Words of Jesus Christ. I highly suggest beginning this Way that you may find Discernment and hopefully, The Holy Spirit once you learn how really quickly by Jesus in the Gospel. Of Course, test all spirits including mine. The OT god Yahweh will be confusing unless you understand historical imprint into Pantheon in Canaan and the transliteration and translations with generic Lord, lord, God, will be odd without context or original languages. Know this and seek it for yourself, the Masoretic OT text oldest complete copy (missing 200pgs but closest,oldest) is 400years younger than the NT. Be careful with the Demiurge and all it's forms and historical contexts. Learn from Emmanuel, who the Father is first so as not to be taken by the Synagogue of Satan, those that say they are joojoobees and are not. Learn to pray in silence with the Father. Know that when 2 or more are gathered in Christ that He is there with us. May Truth quickening towards our Savior Jesus Christ! Love Only, Always!

@@Montfortracing I like Prager a lot. For anyone like me, who wants to start at the beginning, his Rational Bible books on Genesis and Exodus are extremely valuable. As Father Mike keeps saying, there are multiple incidents in the Old Testament that foreshadow the New Testament, and I would be missing those things entirely without help. I've already figured out that people who just sit on their couch and read the Bible by itself, and think they understand everything, really don't.
@@sunrhyze I guess his Rational Bible series good, I don't know much about it. I'd rather rely on more credible Catholic sources for that than him. The problem with Dennis Prager is that he's a conservative, and conservatism on politics, history and culture is incredibly damaging, and it's just as damaging as liberalism's views on politics, history and culture.

Yes, Bishop Barron! The Mass FINALLY makes sense (11:30-11:48). Thus, when I'm well in mind and body, there's really no reason to miss it on Sundays and, as I've realized now, there's every reason to strive to BE (not just attend) there daily. You can’t be passive and reach your destiny. This is a new day. Whom the Son sets free is free indeed. Start telling the fear, “You’ve got to go back. Anxiety, you’re not welcome here; you’ve got to go back.” Maybe it’s a child that’s off course, instead of complaining about the trouble, you need to start speaking to the trouble. “Father, You said, as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. My children will be mighty in the land. Lord, I thank You that every force that’s trying to stop them has got to go back.” If you’ll get in agreement with God, start declaring His promises, like the ocean has to recede from the sand even though it’s bigger and more powerful, anything that’s trying to keep you down will only be temporary. It has to go back

In the liturgy we are welcomed to join the everlasting praise and worship of God in heaven. We are simply joining in and enjoying God as He fills us with Himself in the Eucharist.
What did you do when Bishop’s denied the Holy Eucharist while being told you are committing a sin by not receiving the Eucharist?
This is not a troll question obviously. This man kept many people from Jesus because of not trusting Jesus enough.
@@same3210 Pray the hours, fast, silence/solitude etc… My church still offered the Eucharist. But I get where you are coming from. Be faithful to God’s Spirit working in you. You don’t need to wait for someone to give you permission to do what God has called us to. Psalm 37:3 says, “Trust in the Lord and do good.”

Extraordinary! Thank you so much Bishop Barron for this beautiful explanation of worship. For me, the mass has always been a deeply personal experience. I’m so grateful for all the faithful around me, but the important thing is I’m there to restore myself to where I need to be in worship during mass and beyond. I love the experience of coming back online with the Holy Trinity. We are blessed with so many tools to continue worship throughout the week too, daily rosary, chaplets, novenas, etc. We must stay online with God all the time with worship, or satan will distract us with worldly focus. Blessings to you and to the whole world!
