Nuke is a good way to get E3 before boot camp and auto E4 upon graduation of A School (3 to 6 months after Boot camp). There is also the opportunity get auto E5 if you reenlist 2 years after joining. It comes with a big bonus too. That said, being a Nuke is not for everyone and you don't get to choose what specific job you'll get, i.e MMN, EMN, ETN. It's the hardest school academically and a tough job in the fleet.
It's crazy how long their A school is, they were just graduating months after I showed up to my first command. The Navy does their best to try to retain those nukes too, since they could just leave and do the same job in the civilian world for much higher pay.
My brother was a Nuke. Flunked out just before finishing A school (one week left). I scored high enough to get into Nuke as well on the ASVAB. But, I've heard enough horror stories from my brother to know not to pursue that. I'm more interested in going the HM route anyway.
just subbed, thanks for taking your time to expound and enumerate on this topic. I am going to join the Navy, always wanted to, but let fear shunt my dreams, now in my mid 30s I will finally serve my country. it isn't all avarice, I am genuinely a patriot of this great, God fearing nation, and I want to show my gratitude and join my brothers in arms. hah, excuse the gravitas. Happy New Year bruh, and b-ch-n threads bro
Alright well best of luck. Just don't come in with any high expectations of your life being a war movie or something. It's just a job, albeit a more special one. You'll do great! And better late than never, now we don't have to sit in a rocking chair in our 70s wondering how life COULD have been IF we joined.
Bank robber John Dillinger joined the Navy as a Petty Officer 3rd Class because of his skills as a machinist. He was assigned to the battleship USS Utah and jumped ship a few months later.
You can still make E-4 if you're in an ATF rate (advanced technical field). For example IS' can make E-4 just by passing A school and arriving to their first command. They don't have to wait 30 months.
Just want to thank you for 1st your service and a really good no nonsense channel . I'm a son of a sailor who served 22yrs and was in WW2 , Korean War , Cuban Missile Crisis . Now my daughter is getting ready for her ASVAB test in few days . Then MEPS next month . So as a dad , thanks for sound advice . Are you looking at a 20yr career in the Navy or just take 1 4 yr term at a time ? Again thanks for your time.
Right now it looks like one enlistment and then going to college full time for me. Good to hear that, I know she'll have a great career. I assume you've already seen the other video about MEPS?
Good advice telling these people about the enlisted recruiters…used car sale as they dont care at all about you once you’re off to MEPS. Only people that will disagree have been or are close to a recruiter
I made a whole video about how to navigate the sales tactics and carnival dancing with signing up at the recruiting office. It can get ugly if people go in there not knowing what they're doing but it can also go so well. Thanks for the comment!
I’m not citizen yet so, I couldn’t enlist as an officer even having two masters degree. The enlisting petty officer made me sign a paper in MEPS stating I would not try to become an officer during BMT, regardless being educationally eligible for. Im going to get my citizenship during the BMT and talk to a classifier to move up to O rank. However, I don’t know how signing that paper would affect me. Does anyone know? I truly regret signing that.
Thanks for the video, Is it true that some rates start off at an e4? I was looking at being a CTT but there is a lot of mixed information about rates starting at e4. ( I know its not in bootcamp but usually after A school) I tried looking on navycool for the information but CTT is really limited on the info.
Does the Navy have the Delayed Entry Program? My son is a junior in HS rn and keeps telling me he wants to join the Navy when he graduates HS. He seems pretty locked in on that decision so just wondering if there’s something he could be studying before if he does join
There are resources on this channel explaining what to study before going. Simply said, yes there's a delayed entry program and they offer classes and stuff on what to know before showing up to RTC. I'd highly recommend starting with the rank structure and general orders. If he already knows these things when he shows up, and passes the physical test right off the bat, he'll be promoted in boot camp.
I'd bring it up, it might be a mistake. Nobody cares about my career or your career like we do ourselves, to everyone else we're just numbers on paper, one fish out of a giant school swimming by
Know the ranks, recognize them (shoulder, sleeve, and cuff) the abbreviations and E1 through E-9 and O-1 through O-10 codes for them. Know a few individuals like the CNO by name. Know the general orders.
Wow 30 months to rank to E4? My Son is going in as E3 due to jrotc and they didn’t mention this- I think they are telling him he could rank up pretty quick.
It changed relatively recently. E-4 is a petty officer rate, basically an NCO, it shouldn't be available to someone after only 6 months of training in boot camp and A school like it used to be. Before being a leader someone has to be a great follower and understand what the people they're leading are doing because they've done it themselves for years.
@Haedenbeck I start off E-2 however i’m in the DEP program and I have more pending college credits will I be able to update my records ? This was told to me at MEPS is there any truth to that ?
Hello guys n girls I ship out in july im trying to rank up before boot camp. Can I use anyone’s name as a recruit to rank up faster. You more than welcome too use my name too for ur benefit.
you automatically become an e4 six months after being an e3?! that is so cool! I hope to graduate Bootcamp as an E2 or E3. nevermind I watched the rest. so one can not become e4 unless they are in the military for 3 years?
Yeah it used to be 6 months after E3 you got E4 but now it's 30 months time in service. The reason for the change is that we had too many turbocrows. A friend of mine has been working for 2 years now and isn't an E4 but someone who just set foot on this island IS because she joined at E3. 30 months is more fair for everyone. But I'm glad I got E4 before the change LOL

When I enlisted I enlisted for Six years, with a guaranteed C School, after A School I was promoted to E-4.
TURBOCROW. Well, congrats. 😁
Missile technician??👀

Love it!! Your just right to the point.
This video answered my question on your other video. Thank you!
no problem!
Looking sharp champ 🎉. Happy holidays

Very good info

I nuke qualified so I started as E-3 as a part of my contract and made E-4 automatically after finishing A school
Went into rhe army as an e4 . Completed basic then went to warrant officer school after basic
Pilot?
Signal corp warrant

Went into Naval Reserves after college became an E2😊
i got maritoriously promoted in bootcamp, worth it
Enlisting as an ITS, I did 4 years of NJROTC, and my rate auto-promotes E-4 after A school
I’m getting e-3 during basic and when I finish A-school I’ll be an e-4
Just graduated boot camp on the 14th I was supposed graduate on the 30th last month but I was in rcu for 2 weeks for swim 😢
Well hey at least you passed, congrats!

Yeah if you're a nuke or a SEAL you graduate your training as an E4 because it's so long and difficult. Those examples come to mind right away.
IC here I ship out in May.. I’ll be E-4
@@kaybee19ks How are you an E-4 right off the bat?

Yes they do
They must changed it because my recruiter put in my info from 2 years of rotc but my contract says e1

You said some other info on that test for E2 at beginning of basic training other than rank what else is there?

I'm in the USNSCC. I have been in it for 4 years. I want to join the US Navy as MAA.
Yeah well the path is clear ahead, if that's what you want. I wish you the best in your career. Feel free to ask any questions!

If the status of anything has changed before you ship out to RTC, you can update it. Just make sure everything is reflected on the actual contract.

What are all the Navy Ranks I need to know before going to boot camp?
E-1 through E-9, the warrant officers, and O-1 through O-10.
Do recommendations count if they join another branch
I don't think so, the office is split up by branch too so.

How easy or difficult was it to be an MA
Easiest, best job I ever had. I mean it's long hours and nobody here loves every minute or hour of it but overall it's great.
Civilians dont like to Navy guys.
