So glad you made this video! I recently began eating a high fat lunch after experiencing debilitating blood sugar symptoms. I would get extremely dizzy and lightheaded after I ate. It felt like I was going to pass out. It got to the point where I was afraid to eat. Some days I would eat and the symptoms were so bad, I would have to crawl into my bed. I started eating a salad for lunch everyday and the symptoms are now gone. My recipe: tomatoes, avocado, basil, cucumber and mozzarella cheese. I make a dressing from olive oil, balsamic vinaigrette and a dash of agave nectar. I know agave is probably not a good idea, but I think the fats from the oil and avocado buffer the absorption of carbs. And I have not had any scary symptoms since I have been eating this as my first meal of the day, usually around 1:30 on weekends, later on weekends. Anyway, stay strong, thank you and God bless 🙏
I'm so glad this video helped you! It's amazing how adjusting your lunch to a high-fat salad made such a positive impact on your blood sugar symptoms. “Eating avocados alone would likely be ineffective, as the amount of natural avocatin B varies widely in the fruit and we still do not fully understand exactly how it is digested and absorbed when we consume a whole avocado,” said Professor Paul Spagnuolo, a researcher in the Department of Food Science at the University of Guelph.
Professor Paul Spagnuolo highlights that eating avocados alone may not be as effective due to the variability in natural avocatin B content and incomplete understanding of its digestion and absorption. Further research is needed to fully grasp the mechanisms involved. 🥑🔬
It would have been nice if he'd mentioned this. I found the video to be very rushed and incomplete. I don't think he did his due diligence on research before doing the video. Usually he's better than this.
Very helpful, thank you. This was very incomplete and caused more questions than it answered... What are the "wrong fats" that cause incomplete mitochondrial fat oxidation that he briskly mentioned without a word of explanation? Surely avocados aren't the only fat that gets oxidized by the mitochondria more completely than others? Does it take 8 weeks of eating a half avocado with every carb meal to begin to produce this result? In fact, were the effects even measured using actual avocados? It appears not, based on your comment. Seems it should have immediate results, not only accumulative after 8 weeks. Are there other studies that he could have referenced to get a more complete picture? How long does the effect last after eating avocado? (Or, again, is this only the result of extracted avacatin B?) Fat is not water soluble so it sticks around, can you assume the effects of just 1/2 avocado will last a whole day? Or is it just a one-and-out? (Required with every meal.) Maybe he has other videos on the effects of eating fats (wrong and right) with carbs. This video makes it appear that combining the two is more dangerous than eating carbs without fat. That's the first I've heard. Usually his videos are much better than this and he is fairly thorough. This one seemed poorly researched and pretty rushed. 🤷♀️
Impressive! Consuming 6 avocados per week for 7 years shows your commitment to incorporating this nutritious fruit into your diet. Keep enjoying the benefits of avocados! 🥑👏
You're right, Pottenger's Human. Stearic acid, a saturated fatty acid found in beef and other animal fats, has been shown to stimulate mitochondriogenesis, the process of generating new mitochondria. This can lead to an increase in metabolism and energy production. It's fascinating how different compounds can have diverse effects on our metabolism. Thank you for sharing this insight! 🥩🔥👍
It's understandable, JohnnyB. Adjusting your diet to fit your current needs is important. Remember to find a balance that works for you. Best of luck with your increased protein intake! 🥑💪

Slow Carb, Slow Fat FTW - whole plant food carbs and whole plant food fats both with fiber, helping the body fully assimilate the nutrients without overwhelming its metabolic systems and pathways.
Olives are very similar to avocado. They share same type of healthy fats - Omega-3 fatty acid, monounsaturated fatty acid, oleic acid, iron, copper, iodine, vitamins A and E, potassium, magnesium, calcium, and other phytonutrients/minerals. Olives also contain less sugar than avocado
Tallow has a pretty high smoke point (420F) but avocado is 520 and definitely better than cooking with other acceptable plant oils like olive. I prefer animal based when possible 🤔
Yikes! I just listened to Dr. Paul Spagnuolo in a podcast where he was saying that Avocatin B inhibits fatty acid oxidation. Preventing the mitochondria to utilize fat vs glucos. I suppose insulin sensitiviy is more important than lipid oxidation. Maybe Avocatin B doesn't affect the liver when making ketones. Anyway I may need to pay for access to the study to review what you were talking about.
Check to see if it has propellents or other oils. Lots of "avocado oil" concoctions have other oils, such as canola. Chosen Foods has an avocado spray that simply pressurized.

Just finished eating 1/2 an avocado for breakfast with my eggs and bacon.. Easing into ketovore now, but I won't give up my raw garlic, broccoli sprouts and 1/2 an avocado everyday.
Man, you are going to live forever eating raw garlic, sprouts, and avocado! Raw garlic is so incredible for the body, like tons of good health benefits! Very smart combination there! Cheers!
@@travelguy1564 thank you sir, forgot to mention olive oil one or two table spoons a day - the coldpressed extra virgin - the good stuff!
That sounds like a delicious and nutritious breakfast, OldTymer! Avocado pairs perfectly with eggs and bacon. It's great that you're transitioning into a ketovore diet while still incorporating raw garlic, broccoli sprouts, and avocado. Keep up the good work and enjoy your healthy and flavorful meals! 🥑🍳🥓🥦
Half an avocado and 2 eggs 5 days a week gets me started before work 😁
My favorite meal. I put salt, pepper, and half a teaspoon of lemon juice on the avocado.
about a whole one a day here
@@yamamancha just did exactly that five minutes ago.
What do you with the second half of it..?

I need to add avocado to my meal plan every single day.
I knew it! People said avocados are bad, but I always felt better eating them!
Its more abundant in Mexican avocado seeds. Thats a very available source for it only need companies to start extracting it.
Is there any way to browse Trive Market without signing up for it?
For those who don't like the taste of avocados, is Avocatin B in avocado oil too? Or is in the form of a solid?
I have the same question
Avocados are tasteless in a meal. So how can you not like the taste of... nothing.
@@robbertag808 They certainly have a taste.
@@bgrimlanthey definitely have a grassy and nutty flavour for sure
@robbertag808 I think it's more of a texture issue for most people idk....I LOVE them and try and ear 1 a day
I didn't know this, just thought it was a superfood. I absolutely love Avocados and eat one every day that I have them.
Thanks Vshreds
Haven't seen you in a while. Nice to hear you again. 👍 You helped me lose 25 kg and keep it off!
Is it specifically Hass avocado?
I’m still unable to find the information/studies that show fat can increase insulin & therefore insulin sensitivity. Do you have a video & links to studies for this as mentioned early in this video?
Try an avocado a day instead of an apple a day. I do better when I have an avocado a day.
For breakfast I'll eat 1 organic apple and 1 small organic avocado and usually 2 pieces of 100% cocao dipped in nut butter. I'll leave out the apple if I'm fasting. Good luck!
Guess I have to start buying avocados
Will it help if we use avocado leaves as tea? Do they contain avocatin B? Thanks
I just love your channel
Thanks for everything you do. I just over the moon about finding you a year ago. such great info 😊
And they say there is no God. Our bodies are amazing
i drink avocado smoothie almost everyday after a run.
1 big avocado
1 scoop whey protein
frozen spinach
Hopefully the oxalates won't become an issue for you; spinach is high in them. You might want to look into it. :-)
experts contradict themselves all the time. if we follow every advice they give we will have nothing to eat. remember when they used to say more than 3 eggs a week is bad? how about the food pyramid? dang there used to be donut, cereals and cake in the base of the old pics of the food pyramid.
I was literally chewing on a bite off avocado and eggs when I opened up TH-cam and this video was staring at me LOL!
Thomas, could you look into something important for me and all on eliquis, possibly all blood thinners? Ive read they inhibit breakdown of tryglicerides. I haven't had bloodwork done since on yet year and half but concerned as docs dont understand or care in my opinion. They put people on these for life by thousands. So glad reassurance as eat avocado regularly.
It seems to but it doesn't if my gcm has anything to say about it.
It atrenuates nothing. My blood sugar after eating rice with a full avocado goes up considerably from base line.
Hmmm...anything more.
Does that include the stone and skin ?
I eat avocado 4 times in the week with a mix of seeds and that keeps me full and hungerless for 3-4h
(Or, again, is this only the result of extracted avacatin B?)
Fat is not water soluble so it sticks around, can you assume the effects of just 1/2 avocado will last a whole day? Or is it just a one-and-out? (Required with every meal.)
Maybe he has other videos on the effects of eating fats (wrong and right) with carbs. This video makes it appear that combining the two is more dangerous than eating carbs without fat. That's the first I've heard.
Usually his videos are much better than this and he is fairly thorough. This one seemed poorly researched and pretty rushed. 🤷♀️
Thank you
Sadly, the avocado season in our place is about to end; which also means I'll be reintroducing carbs again soon
So planting over dozen avo trees in my yard several yrs ago was a good idea? ;-)
I’ve eaten a least 6 medium sized avocados a week for the past 7 years.
That is absolutely awesome
And what did it do for u
That is killer! Way to go!
I have eaten 2 a day for over 3 years.....part of the health plan....
Impressive! Consuming 6 avocados per week for 7 years shows your commitment to incorporating this nutritious fruit into your diet. Keep enjoying the benefits of avocados! 🥑👏
Very interesting. Stearic acid (from beef) also increases metabolism, but it does it by stimulating mitochondriogenesis.
nice, probably good pork lard and duck fat has similar effects
Good to know.
I was eating avocados 🥑 everyday but now I need to decrease my fats and increase my protein.
I eat an avocado plus alot of lean meats
Too much protein before age 60 is bad news bears. See Valter Longo’s research. This dude knows longevity like Michael Jordan knows basketball.
It's understandable, JohnnyB. Adjusting your diet to fit your current needs is important. Remember to find a balance that works for you. Best of luck with your increased protein intake! 🥑💪

Avocado and garlic seems to be MIRACLES FOR GOOD HEALTH, thus guacamole=AWESOME FOR GREAT HEALTH! : GO GUACAMOLE!!!!
I eat omelette, mackerel, avocado, pepper and red onions with spinach most lunch times, gets around 75 grammes of protein too, still under 10% body fat in my 40s
I love avocado but they tend to mess with my digestive tract and cause loose stools. I finally quit eating them. Besides I can’t find ones from CA anymore.
Awesome 🥑
But I HATE advocado! I will try a bite. 😮 can I just take Advacado B?
The study was published in October 2019. Has anything been added since then?
how many avocados do you need to eat a day/week to get this effect?
Slow Carb, Slow Fat FTW - whole plant food carbs and whole plant food fats both with fiber, helping the body fully assimilate the nutrients without overwhelming its metabolic systems and pathways.
Avocados are so expensive here where I live, is there an alternative?
Grow one or many, I believe it takes 3-4 years before it bears fruit.
Your future-self will thank you.
Today I wish I had done it a few years ago. 😢
Move?
Olives are very similar to avocado. They share same type of healthy fats - Omega-3 fatty acid, monounsaturated fatty acid, oleic acid, iron, copper, iodine, vitamins A and E, potassium, magnesium, calcium, and other phytonutrients/minerals.
Olives also contain less sugar than avocado
Great content as usual Thomas, thanks for this. Avocado oil is a good alternative to tallow for higher heat pan frying.
Thumbs up and subscribed!
I use Pam Avocado cooking spray. Wonder if it gives the benefits of natural avocado?
I wonder what is in it besides avocado oil...did I hear soy???
@@johnmartinsen963 It's got organic grain alcohol and sunflower lecithin. No soy.
Check to see if it has propellents or other oils. Lots of "avocado oil" concoctions have other oils, such as canola. Chosen Foods has an avocado spray that simply pressurized.

Thanks for all the information you are helping us sick people as well as the people looking to loose weight !
I agree please do a video on this stuff.
Sorry you go through that. I have autoimmune problems too (UC) so I totally understand how painful and exhausting it can be….I totally would love more videos on what to avoid and why.
You might want to shift to 'carnivore diet', most carnohydrates are not to be eaten anymore due to all sorts of pesticides etc.
Much of my insulin resistance is due to high levels of stress over a long period of time. Check out Dr. Robert Lustig's existing videos regarding other things that can negatively affect metabolic health.
When you said "This is why they are putting chemicals in our food", what motive were you referring to? The video talked about Avocatin B. How does that chemical make food companies want to poison us?
Paul Spagagnolo PhD University of Waterloo Canada is doing the research on Aocantin B. It inhibits cancer cells in AML acute myeloid leukemia.
His group has teamed up with the Canadian Centre for Commercialization of Regenerative Medicine CCRM io get a patent for Avocatin B and do clinical research trials on its Effectiveness is a cancer treating drug.

With all the shortcuts available in your favorite search engine to ripen them quickly, why would you want to eat them if they're not ripe? Doesn't sound too appetizing. To answer your question, apparently not, if you aren't allergic to avocados.

How the Frick do I find good avocados? 90% of the ones I buy are stringy and watery or brown inside. Yes I'm buying Haas.
You have to feel each one. They should have just a little softness to them. The darker the riper they are. I buy some that are very green and leave them out to ripen along with some ready to eat. Try buying 3 or 4 of varying softness. Cut all of them open so you can see the difference. You will be an expert in no time!
Take them back and demand a refund. Regardless of them refunding you or not , they might be inclined to source a supplier of better quality avos.
