    Decent review. A lot of people dislike Vizio but they review pretty well. I had one for 13 years and it has been fine. Died on me. I am very old school and can't stand wireless so I bought a 25 ft HDMI cord to use the TV as computer monitor. I have Netflix and Prime and occasionally do something else. So I stream directly from the computer. i just watched the baseball playoffs on ESPN with no problem because Xfinity supports it. No need for built in nonsense.

      Thanks for sharing your experience. I will be interested to see how much the company will change things up with these Smart TVs. Walmart bought VIZIO back in February, and its release of the Onn 4K Pro streaming device (powered by Google TV) was no joke. You can check out my video on that.

    • @kenkaplan3654

      @@CordCuttingReport I have a problem maybe you can help. my old Vizio broke (TV portion only) and I was using it as computer monitor with its own RGB port. (working now) New TV only has HDMI and computer only has RGB/VGA. NO HDMI ports (Bought it refurnished) I was looking for a VGA TO HDMI adapter but almost all I see are HDMI TO RGB/VGA. Thought of going wireless but not sure Chrome cast will go automatically to full computer use and Dell is old but 500Gb and works well. Is there anyplace I can find what I need? Thanks

    • @kenkaplan3654
      @kenkaplan3654 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@CordCuttingReport So I got it going and unfortunately it is a step down from my old one which was exceptionally sharp (47"). Less picture options andnot as good. no custom which I used. I settled on calibrated dark and fiddled a bit and it's Ok but not as crisp. Did not see a setting for motion smoothing. unless it's baked in . I do like filmaker mode for DVD's. I put in a non blue ray Avatar and was pleasantly surprised. The cable picture seems erratic and depends on the station feed. So I saw an NFL clip and it was great, incredible. Watched a repeat of a recent Basketball game and it was pretty crummy. MSNBC seems clearer than CNN, and guests on zoom will be clearer depending on THEIR feed. Will fiddle wih picture more and see videos for specific settings. Don't right now seem to see that big a diffence from lower HZ motion ratio.
      I guess you get what you pay for for $300. I think it will be livable if not occasionally iritating. If I get a windfall might go up to the next level, like $700-1000 range.
      Right now I'm on the old one via RGB cord. Computer has no HDMI ports. I can either spend $ 200 for a good refurbished one and the data transfer, or just keep using this as my monitior as long as I don't turn it off. Problems starting once turned on. TV portion is shot. Don't need smart applications because I view Netflix, Prime, etc throgh the hard wire for streaming. Works great. Will leave this for now and percolate on a decision for a computer.
      Thanks for your time. Any more advice is appreciated. I did not buy theTV because of you. There were alot of good professional reviews

    • @kenkaplan3654
      @kenkaplan3654 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@CordCuttingReport So I've had the TV a bit more and it grows on me. The biggest surprise is how sharp and clear sports are. 60 motion hz is fine. Generally there is a bit of fine tuning depending on station or show. What did blow me away is how good 420 DVD's look and I haven't tried a blu ray yet. This is where 55" really outdoes the 47" because you can feel the sweep of it. More like a movie. Makes me want to get DVD's from the library. Filmmaker mode seems to help real movies.
      One drawback. Anywhere significantly to the side and all color washes out. Extremely limited viewing range. But I'm just one person so it's OK. No family.
      For $300 can't beat it.

    SmartCast is a nightmare. It’s super glitchy. Matter of fact Vizio TV’s are a nightmare. I’m a Maintenance Director at a skilled nursing center. 6 months after installing Vizios TV’s the picture began to fail. We’ve had to replace 8 TV’s so far. They are not durable and most certainly aren’t designed for a setting where they’ll be on most of the time. Meanwhile the 10 year old LG’s are still holding up. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    I love my V-series 50" TV with tuner that I have in the bedroom. Picture is nice (once I got it dialed in) both in the dark and in bright situations. I don't use the game mode on that TV. I have an E-series 55" in the living room that, although it doesn't have Dolby vision, it does have 12 local dimming zones and better color after I dialed it in. For the average person, Smartcast would be fine. But, for me, I needed a few apps including HDHomerun, which Smartcast doesn't support. HDHomreun recommends Plex, which doesn't support 4K or ATSC 3.0... So I got an Onn (Walmart) Chromecast + Google TV 4K for the bedroom and a standard Nvidia Shield for the living room.

      I think all these tv brands are typically a roll of the dice. Usually on the better side. You may have a Walmart “Onn” tv for 10 years and it’s just fine but then have a Sony or Vizio tv and it breaks down after a year or two but your friends same model lasts 10.

    Hates vizio smart Tv remote donthave enough button to control the tv and its so Sucks that even with an Antenna you cannot add channels manually . Why F with smart then Better the oldtv was so easy to control and add channels you want to watch Not channels that they want you to eatch.💙💙💙🇺🇲🦅

    V505-G9 updating is a pain in the butt and it’s time for a change. I thought I might try this TV. It’s got more bell and whistles then my present going through too many problems trying to update this one thumb dries and zip files. Why should it be so difficult?
