Im a brazing guy, but stay brite for a solder is pretty damn good and strong. I have nothing against soldering lines. As long as it holds....who cares how it is done.
They most definitely need to be brazed and many jurisdictions will fail you. I don’t care what anyone says about Stay-brite 8. It is inferior to flowing nitrogen and braze with an oxy-acetylene and Sil-fos 15. My guys are not allowed to do this and we replace and fix too many systems when guys half-ass it with solder and not real brazing.
@Balticblue93 this is not true. Before posting a comment saying most definitely, you should make sure it’s factual statement. You might of had bad experiences with staybrite 8. Techs not knowing how to properly solder, ect. I have zero leaks on my linesets. Wish I could say the same for evap coils
Why not just use staybrite 8? I have no leaks and have been using staybrite 8 for 15+ years. Its rated for 410a. Fittings can handle more pressure than silfos. Silfos works. Yet then need to purge, try not to overheat txv, or service valves. Thats my reasons. If you think silfos is better than use it. As long as the system is tight and holds below 500 microns. All that matters
@@thehvachacker my ears are junk born that way I hear the high and low end I won't put up with it I use a cutting torch head been doing it that way for over 30 years
Is their a reason your using flux and solder? I understand it uses much less heat but the fittings you are joining are easily accessible, an oxy torch with a nitro purge and heat trap on your filter dryer and service valves would be much better. Why add any contaminants to the system if you don’t have to?
@rj.parker definitely not stronger. That's just what he choose to use. Brazing when done correctly the joint is actually stronger than the copper pipe itself.
Good to see ya bud! Glad all is well. Miss the videos. Make some more and I’ll watch them. Be safe out there brother.
Bill! You are the guy that got me to start using stay brite when I can- great vid man!
Good to see 👀 you, it's been a long time ⌛ !!
Bill happy to see you still at it. Wish you had some more vids. Miss those service vids you use to post. Those generator vids where good also.
I grew up watching you mean, from a pea little apprentice to a full lead. Damn time really do fly. Nice to still you're still around bud!
Good looking fit Bill. I always pour water on the valve a few times while I'm making the braze.

Nice job Hackster ... Good to have ya back
Picked up a new pipe cutter with a big diameter cutting wheel. Maybe 1" round, it barely leaves a burr if you go slow. Nice work on this one
Thanks for coming back hack!
Nice to see you back hacker! 👍
Sporting the Fenix flashlight.
😎👍
Its a nice upgrade from the maglite, just wish it had a belt pouch like maglite. Open top, not the foldover

I have missed you Hacker ! Hope all is well, Bill ..
I thought those lines need to brazed?
