I think Goodman can be a fine piece of equipment if installed correctly.. just like anything else they all have similar or interchangeable parts. Better than York for sure. With these rooftop units I highly recommend you keep the coils clean if you have water access. With pressures of R410A things can go south quick- airflow is crucial.
Its nice to be able to afford all that equiptment...Im a AC tech in a poor country so I only have a vacume pump and manifolds basic tools...I watch yr videos n wonder how much yr high quality equiptment cost you.
Hi, I invest several hundred dollars a year and try and take care of my stuff so a lot of it has been built up over the years. For instance, my field piece multimeter was around $200 but I’ve owned it for 13 years now
@@ApartmentMaintenancePro I always thought condensers weighed like 250 pounds for some reason lol. And the reason I think this is because I'm 14 and you got a new sub 👍
I got zero oil when disconnecting gauges. Just open it slowly and the oil should be fine. If that’s what your referring to. It’s always nice to add reason behind comments 👍
I don’t know why you just hacked up the low side connection by crimping semi closed instead of getting or making a fitting to side in and braze it like normal it might not leak now but give it some time I’m sure it’s already leaking and if the unit fails you are on the hook for it in court mind you hmmmm best of luck
If you would have taken that straight section of pipe out of that 90 that has a flare on it the flare would if it perfectly inside there without having to crimp the pipe on the condensing unit to make it fit
As a former auto mechanic I've done plenty of automotive HVAC work. I found this an interesting video. Sometimes when I recovered a R134A system I wondered what I might be recovering.
LOOK I GET IT YOU HAVE TO BE FAST BUT NOT HALF ASS BUT DUDE YOU ARE GOING TO REGRET WHEN YOUR BACK GOES OUT AND THEN ALL THAT KNOWLEDGE IS WASTED DONT ASK ME HOW I KNOW!!!!! GOOD LUCK AND MAY YOU BE IN HEAVEN 30 MINUTES BEFORE THE DEVIL KNOWS YOURE DEAD!!!! 😎
Can’t you break vacuum by shutting your core tool and releasing gas from condenser? I saw you bled off from refrigerant tank to manifold (yellow hose) but how about from manifold to unit? Did that hose have air in it? Maybe I missed it?
You can break vacuum by opening up the valves yes but you probably don’t want a lot of pressure going through the micron gauge so isolate that if you can
I hope he didn't bulge his spinal nerves in his lower back while lifting the unit by himself i learned this the hard way i used to lift heavy boxes of potatoes each weighing 50 pounds i later began to develop back problems and man it hurts real bad it took me weeks to recover and know when lifting heavy things i either get help or use equipment like a hand cart designed to lift heavy objects like boxes or furniture
@@ApartmentMaintenancePro yeah they do , the previous company i was working for had a lot of contracts with apartment complexes for all the skilled hvac work , my old boss keeps like 100 goodman units at all times just because we would change them out so much at apartments
Nobody would buy Goodman if the hardware was not a good value for the money. During the pandemic, Goodman prices really shot up so I prefer Rheem/Ruud now.
My Goodman (ac/heat ) has lasted over 16years up here in northern 🇨🇦 Replaced the fan blower motor 5years ago .. no other issues… our temperatures range from minus -40c in the 9 months of winter to plus 30c in our 3 months summer.. I’m a diesel mechanic not a air/furnace technician it was easy to install.. blower fan motor cost $200 dollars and another $250 dollars to ship it up here ( HudsonBay area)🇨🇦 Cheers
Thank you, great video, one thing I am interested in, the Goodman manual, for the unit I will install tomorrow states: "Open the suction service valve first! If the liquid service valve is opened first, oil from the compressor may be drawn into the indoor coil TXV, restricting refrigerant flow and affecting operation of the system". I see in the video you opened the liquid line first. Was there any issues with the system after doing so? Thank you very much!
No there were not. I've had the privilege of working a property for 8 years and never had that issue. But, I would recommend following the manual to be safe. I knew I was going to get called out on that.
@@ApartmentMaintenancePro You are correct, it's not much gas that you introduced ... just not the correct way. Introducing as a liquid gives the correct blend of difluoromethane and pentafluoroethane.
@@ApartmentMaintenancePro Dave, Do me a favor and hit me up with a contact email or number, plz. I'd like to speak with you ( about pumping stuff up hill ) about the circulation of coolant without the World chiming in our conversation. I would really appreciate it! Have a great day!

Great video. You explain every step very well. Thanks!
Thanks for watching Jimmy!
Excellent video. Thank you
*Works great **Fastly.Cool** compact and Easy to install*
Once I seen the cart with all those tools I felt all the times I had to do that!

Your welcome C Deese lol
Nice tutorial. 👍
Thank you 👍
I like how you just pick the condenser up. I get it, you’re strong lmao. That back strength though
I used to do a lot of power lifting, deadlifts and such.
@@ApartmentMaintenancePro I always thought condensers weighed like 250 pounds for some reason lol. And the reason I think this is because I'm 14 and you got a new sub 👍
6:12 I cut the large part off of my new condenser.
I have to move a 4 ton Goodman can I reclose the King valve and keep most of the freon in the unit? Just vacuum the line set.
Yes
No reason to use the supplied piston?
Always open suction first

@@ApartmentMaintenancePro in the manual it says suction first that’s the reason why they must have had problems with oil and txvs

Ah damn that's a good idea thanks. Gonna do that on the next one for sure! :)
I hate that he did that 😒
Made me cringe!
I would suggest stocking copper bushings. That is not a acceptable connection.
Thanks Melvin 🛠

Qué pasa cuando desconectas las mangueras y se regresa el aire en el cobre ? Cuando termina de aspirar?
I have the goodman 2.5 ton. ? What thermost wires connects to the blue and blue/red coming out of the condensor unit?
Please refer to your wiring diagram
damn bro, you are a beast for lifting that condenser all by yourself
💪
faxx

bro doing to much for the vacuum
When you broke vacuum with refrigerant, didn’t refrigerant also went into the vacuum gauge?
Yes. A little bit
That’s why are backs are shot 🤔

Goodman is the best…said no one ever!

10 year parts and labor and lifetime compressor replacement is nothing to sneeze at for people on a budget

Did I miss something? Did you braze with valve cores installed?
Ya it’s not best practice- I’ve done it many time though no issues
Funny I actually worked on a unit on this exact roof, Downtown Denver nice work btw
Nice bro! Thanks for watching :)
Yeah Dave, I remember having to lug all my stuff up those 30 foot internal ladders so I'm really king of jealous about the stairs

When you broke vacuum, why didn't you turn the tank over to get a true blend of the two components that make up R410a?
1/100th of a 40/60 blend of gas into a system to break vacuum will make no difference. Im sure my math is wrong but - prove me wrong.

Good work u know what's u doing 👍👍👍
Can this work for any 2 ton ac /heating unit?
The easiest acs to install
All ACs are easy to install with good ‘access’
"to prevent, um...." cuts to new scene. WHAT WAS IT!?!?!?
Lol oxidation
How's that Goodman running
Still running strong 💪

Not by choice. 😪 I’m just a tech and install what I’m supplied with

Is this a 2ton?
Thank you 🙏

Those are not king valves. Who brazed the suction line?

Do you believe that Goodman can last ten years up on the roof?
Yes I'd say a 75% chance it lasts 10 years from install
