Gojira is one of my all time favorites. Groovy and rhythmic while technical and diverse with the instrumentation, then throw in some harsh screams and growls with some cleans. Call them technical death metal or (personally) progressive groove metal, either way, they are one of the sickest bands out there.

What I love about Gojira is their riffs aren't complicated, they're not super technical or anything. They're simple, heavy as hell and combined with a full band are insane
The first time I ever heard of Gojira was actually at Janus Landing in FL where they opened for lamb of god. They opened with Flying Whales and blew my balls off.

As for new Gojira, I don’t know why but I really like Another World, but their newest album was just okay for me. All of their music has grown on me so much so I’m sure it will be the same for their new stuff too, but as for now, the 3 albums I named remain some of my favorite albums of all time.
One can really appreciate the mastery of Gojira, when you can listen to their work in this somewhat isolated, purified context. When I listen to their tracks, they sound so natural, so fluid and so easy like they are walking in the park. And this work really made me remember why Gojira is so fucking awesome, their riffs may be easy but their compositions are madly hard and complex! Mad props, Vermilion for making this and playing them so well!

gojira always hits you with heavy groovy riffs and then they always have something more to give great examples: in the wilderness , esoteric surgery ,space time my personal favorite is low lands where you have this chilling song without grooves and riffs and intensity and they hit you in the end with this killer riff great minds and the hope of our generation GREAT VIDEO! @VERMILION
Same here, saw them at the San Antonio show. Remembrance outro reminded me of Metallica's One on roids. Went home, researched the setlist, and started with Ocean Planet off From Mars to Sirius since I really liked the material they played off that album the most. Been down the Gojira rabbit hole ever since.

The death metal chords in "Sphinx" are badass. Also "Planned Obsolescence" and "My Last Creation". Gojira is my favorite band to play drums along with to warm up.
They have such a distinctive riffing style. A lot of their best riffs start so basic and then keep adding elements in ways that you totally aren't expecting. From Mars to Sirius is my favorite, but every single album delivers.
I find that the chorus bit from Silvera is easier if you cross your picking hand over to hold that note at the 12th fret and use your fretting hand to play the hammer-ons and pull-offs.
Gojira always makes me want to pick up the guitar and do some crazy inverted power chords and funky pick scrapes. I remember I learned every riff from Ocean Planet in less than a day (but not the song lol).
Well done, their riffs are sick! Love their sound and way to make music. It´s so different from other bands out there. They also got good messages in their lyrics about the world. 🤘🏻

There is no global warming, vacuity, born in winter, the way of all flesh, magma, clone, deliverance, space time, the link, death of me, indians, embrace the world, wisdom comes, ocean planet, from the sky, where dragons dwell, esoteric surgery and the rest. I love all this songs and guitar riffs but if I'll play them all the video duration will be about 1 hour or even more. Hope for the understanding
He barely scraped by playing the riffs he did, he doesn't have the sludge they have. He's too tight and precise which is normally a great thing to be, but in the instance of Gojira, sometime you just need to know how to sludge

In The Wilderness is just chock full of nasty riffs, especially the 2nd iteration of the chromatic triplet riff where Joe Duplantier inserts one of his signature growls. First time I heard the song, I was like a giddy child in disbelief how, once again, amazing Gojira can be.
