exactly, everybody is so materially well off but they seem to constantly feel like a cornered animal, it's easy to say that these people are soft and weak and ultimately this is true but i'm far more interested in why that is. Why is it that they react to any sort of unpleasantness like someone is driving rusty screws under their fingernails? Why is it that in such a wealthy and powerful nation as america young people who for all intents and purposes should have everything going for them are killing themselves at record rates.

I did 6 pm to 6am shifts at the international airport 1.5 hrs drive away... fueling airliners... for what turned out to be barely $2/hr more than a 10 min bicycle ride to the local Tim Hortons, pouring coffee.
I got hired JUST after the “union” had negotiated frozen wages for 5 years. About the same length of time to get on the seniority list to take part on the lotto to get nicer day shifts.
Union dues taken off each check was not something those coffee pourers had to worry about either let alone gas costs for 3 hrs commute daily.
I don’t remember a Tim’s coffee cryer ever standing out in all weather, or jetstream behind a turning taxiing jet (think of the windchill value at -30). Evan, the tanker truck hoses are really heavy ok? You eventually smell like fuel by lunch break, that you have to eat in the truck between fills. NO earbuds, phone browsing, or music (radio / situation awareness expected)
Alone, no fellow whiner shoulder to cry on.. .
Redundant fuel checks , math in your head , besides the computer guage read outs.(Evan would fail that too)
You will have to shift stick on a heavy massive tanker truck and face a fine for your company if you aren’t fast...a 60 second delay is the max you get before the fine slaps on. And stewardesses on the larger planes don’t mind nosing up at your smell when you march up the gangway to serve the 777 the fuel chit by hand
I don’t remember crying about my work. Nor did I want to work pouring coffee (could you stand the likes of an EVAN TO WORK WITH?)... it was a wage comparison that was pointed out to me soon after starting at the airport.
All these years later, my life isn’t ruined. I wanted changes to get a healthier sleep life/work balance and went after it.
Not sure how or when that Gen got to be so pathetic, but clearly they don’t actually want responsibility or reward for work well done. NO ONE OWES YOU an easy pass and free money, “evan”.
FFS man up and stop being a fn whiner, make your future don’t piss around on your phone telling the world your life is miserable because you can’t handle anything.
See, this is why we can’t have nice things....

I have Asperger's, I've been strange and had a weirdly-working brain that was obvious since I was a toddler. But the mental health industry was so weak in the 1980's & 90's that they didn't know high-functioning autism was a thing, so I didn't get diagnosed. I was simply known as "a troubled child" and "the weird kid." When I was 13 my OCD got so bad that I was misdiagnosed as schizophrenic. Wasn't until I was 27 that I finally got things straightened out and got my proper diagnosis of Autism/Asperger's with OCD.
But after seeing TH-camrs like Gundam rip so many weak-ass & bizarre alien-gendered "neuro-divergent" people from Tik-Tok, I'm starting to think I might not be autistic after all. Even at my worst, I could fiction 1,000 better in society than these so-called people.

    • @Toliman.
      @Toliman. ปีที่แล้ว +74

No, it’s not you. It’s just that self-diagnosis reinforces and validates people who are insecure, and creates a shield from reality and responsibility. That shield also prevents people from taking responsibility or adapting to circumstances, forcing others to change instead of themselves.
You will recognise this pretty quickly once you see a few symptoms of petty tyranny and identity masking, ie hiding behind an authority figure or identity to create a story version of events that may not correspond to reality. The worst thing is, the delusional confidence is what gets people like this, promoted.
Woe if someone like this is in charge of finance, as they usually also start stealing money and hiding fraud, petty or serious, from others as “doing a favour” or making friends with people. And Managers love people like this in their organisation, because of the ego confirmation. If you get in this bind, document all your actions and take photos of anything you sign. Write everything down that you are instructed to, just say you are forgetful. I had a senior who walked out of the office with 40 office computers on a weekend, which was wild.

I'm what people now call "Neurodivergent" too. It can definitely be more of a challenge than the normal person. Needing a couple extra breather breaks here and there or risk losing your ability to comprehend all speech as well as going home feeling so drained mentally you can't even talk to someone if you WANTED to. So for that he/she has my sympathy. However, at the same time, even with these challenges I have been working for over a year now at a Chick-Fil-A, which is CONSTANTLY busy, only in this time taking off _one_ sick day because I was too physically weak to function and too much of a snot hazard to be allowed in anyways. And I am happy to say say I am a very reliable employee when it comes to arriving on time and doing what needs to be done to the best of my ability.
Am I the _best_ employee? Of course not. I often struggle with talking to customers and am a little slow when cleaning because I am so _gosh darn_ insistent everything look perfect! However, thankfully my tenacity alone has kept me afloat. Though I have had my challenges, I have prevailed rather well. I have grown much thicker skin and I like to see that as improvement. Because Evan is so quick to flop around on the floor like a dying fish while I at my job am doing the best I can to the best of my abilities...I do not have sympathy in that area.
I have said my peace. Bye.

@@wykydytron definitely understand where you're coming from. I've made fun of myself in the past for the same reasons. However, I do have to remember to give myself a _bit_ of a break from time to time. I was just talking about my work life as well. Back when I was in public school, I was forced into three extra classes thanks to both my struggles and strengths. That was extremely tiring for a little kid and I ended up thinking I was insanely stupid even though I was several grades ahead in math and just a grade or two behind in reading.
I just want you to understand where I am coming from. I know how weak and pathetic I am and that everyone else deals with the same struggles as I. (Yes I have self esteem problems.)
That being said, though, on top of three extra classes at school I also had to go to both speech therapy and be taught at an embarrassingly old age how to read body language and facial expressions. This is not because I was on my phone all the time. I didn't even get my phone until I got a job. My parents are very conservative and have raised me differently from the rest, ensuring I never became weak mentally and physically.
I respect your view that I am just a weak and pathetic Gen Z but please do understand this is not self diagnosis. I was diagnosed with Autism and Dyslexia professionally at the age of five and have shown symptoms since. I work daily to improve despite this, but do understand growing up like this I have always felt as though I am someone in a race set several feet behind the rest of the racers.
Do I complain and whine about this? No. Despite my Dyslexia, I have become a professional writer. Despite my Autism, I have learned how to read body language and faces better than most.
      I'm an animator.
I'm a book and script writer.
I'm a co director and an aspiring director.
And I've never let my diagnosis become an excuse to sit back and complain about how badly I have it. I simply use it to better understand why some things may be harder than others.

It's the best job I ever had. I love being a barman (and it isn't easy, especially doing it in the land of the original cappuccino) but I couldn't be more thankful for the people I work with who brought me under their wing and taught me how to work in a bar.
I used to work in a factory and do 54 hours weekly and I used to get from 900-1200 euros monthly (It isn't much, pr9bably around 1300 Dollars.)
I get around the same in the bar, but I do 25/27 hours weekly.

Ya know what I haven't done though? Turned those moments into victim porn with myself as the starring role. That is when you step outside of your unfortunate circumstances and start making conscious choices that keep you from bettering yourself. Fucking hell, I got my hours cut just this week because I was so stressed at work that I was hearing things and that made me fuck up peoples orders. I heard them saying things they never said. "neurodivergent" is a synonym for having a developmental disorder which includes autism and ADHD (not anxiety, that's an illness and is much more common than the first two, though ADHD isn't rare either). It's a broad term to cover neurodevelopmental disorders. I don't personally like to say it, because it's become a sort of catch-all buzzword (Like "POC" and "LGBT" have become cards people flash to say "I'm oppressed so respect me now," (And, of course, there are all those people who self-diagnose conditions...yikes)
Not accusing SabbyNeko of doing any of those things though; they might be but I don't know from just a single comment. I'm just saying I notice a lot of people do kind of treat it like a buzzword... but, well, either way, neurodivergent technically is not incorrect to use in this situation. It encompasses the first two of those conditions the SabbyNeko described because they are neurodevelopmental disorders. Even if I avoid using the term, it isn't incorrect. Use google if you don't believe me. @@MaztRPwn

This isn't an accident. They honestly don't even know of a harder life. They can't understand it. It wasn't just their schooling and culture that programmed this. It was family as well. Parents. Speaking from Pakistan here.
I did an internship at a place where I ended up having to make a 3 minute animation sync with some narration in 4 days, when I was more of a hobbyist animator working with new software. To make a long story short, they scratched my work off, threw it in a dustbin, while my battery laptop killed itself due to working almost all day each day to get it finished. I just accepted my losses and bought a new battery.
I would kill to even be able to get a part time job, something that I just can't find no matter where I look, at least some earning and funds to help contribute to my house and I can save up for my ambitions (art and animation). Seeing this person break down over a fucking coffee part time job is not only pathetic, it is legitimately enraging to look at.

Regular shifts ran Monday to Friday with on call days falling on some weekends. All of this was done on top of studying as we went, I’d hate to see this guy’s head explode living that life.
