the test is bugos, that's not how you test it, you cannot connect in series or parallel with tigo and without tigo. I tested with my self, 6 panel in series, one or two panel partial shaded and it reduce my production to almost 60 percent. from 1680w to 525w.
Question for Signature Solar: why Tigo array had a lower wattage to begin with? Do optimizers drop initial output of the panel. With No Tigo 1470W>1108W with Tigo. With shading they perform very close 990W vs 800W. Only 190W diference. But in full sun with no shading you lose about 362W with using Tigo? Or Am I missing somthing here?
Yeah you saw that too. Just having the Tigo in system is a loss?
The 25 year warranty is only valid if you have a "continuous" connection to the internet for Tigo to monitor your devices. So there are conditions associated to the 25y otherwise it is only 5years.
Hmm not a good sign for longevity. Especially for folks more off-grid but still want optimizers.
@@zacharylewis417 exactly!
exactly - some bullshit marketing here...
thanks for calling this out.
Did you give the inverter or CC time to re-track on the second test without the optimizer ?
Were your test arrays wired in parallel or series?
Another comment. While the test is good to know it is not really representative. the loss is not linear, Consequently with real shade (like a tree etc...) the difference of loss will not be as extreme than with this example.
Both tests need to start under the same conditions or it’s worthless. Wattage before shading with same panels. What is the loss just having the Togo’s in place?

Hey Alex! Due to the partly cloudy conditions during the test, there was a slight decrease in the output of the unshaded array. Unfortunately, the timing of the test coincided with unpredictable cloud cover.
Got it. I was beginning to get scared there. I got EG4 18kpv with 10 EG4LL and 30 Optimizers and 30 450W Panels from you guys. Some people say in forums and youtube that, optimizers drag the performance down, with some charge controllers/inverters, but your response clears it up. Thank you.
Pretty good but only 1 test, and a very artificial scenario. I really wanted to see some real-world testing and measurements. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for your feedback!
Thanks for the video. What RFI does the Tigo produce?
Essentially, any device with current flowing through it will emit RFI. However, due to the voltage in each optimizer, interference is likely only if the affected device is very close to the array. In most cases, modern wire insulation effectively prevents interference 99% of the time.
We do not hAve shading but our system does not work at its best. Can it be the heat?
Would Tigo be a good choice if I had to replace a bad or under-performing panel with new higher output panel? For example replacing a 280w with a 340w, kind of the opposite of a shaded panel.
I have 8 tigos on a string of 8 panels, 6 are 610W and 2 450W. I have yet to notice a problem
We used all tigo and no tigo on each 4 panel string
What about the shadow that Optimizier will cast on Rear side of the module?
The optimizer will actually compensate for the shadow that it will cast :)
Wish you guys had a UK branch. who could sell your products in UK
We can ship to a freight forwarder! You would just have to change the V/Hz to match your grid.
If you had a larger test array you would have seen a HUGE difference as the larger the array the larger the loss from partial shading
