    Great video and very informative. I’ll be towing 11000 cross country in a couple of months with a 3500 l8t

      Thanks! I'm sure there will be times where the truck is really working, but based on my experience so far it should do well!

    Ive got a 2022 2500 GMC with the L8T, so its a 6 speed. Tow a 13k 5th wheel. Does just fine on flat land. Going over the sierra nevadas, not going to win any races but gets the job done. Downhill is a bit white knuckle, no diesel exhaust brake. Just have to take it slow and let the tranny/engine braking do its thing. Ride quality and stability is great.

      I've got the 2020 2500 6 speed. Pull my 5ver with it. A little over 10k. Like you when we get into the mountains its not a racer. Over never felt uneasy though. Stable and comfortable ride.

      I agree with you guys. Stable, but won’t win any races. It’s a good balance for what I’m doing.

      Can you imagine the only available engine they make in a new cargo van as a 4.3 l V6 from Chevy. How can you rely on a 4.3 to do any towing of any kind and call it a 1-ton truck? Fortunately I found myself a brand new 2023 3500 cargo van 6.6. perfect for what I need.

      @@jeffwolf8018 Wow - that's pretty wild that they've dropped it down to the V6 moving forward!

    Gas HD's are great for in State driving, but if you are doing out of state trips especially towing a RV, Diesel is the way to go for the best driving experience. No screaming engine noise and the use of an exhaust brake. I also wish Chevy/GM used better seats.

      Totally. Ya I’m pretty much doing in state and local driving and it has proved to be plenty for what I’m doing at this point. The seats have actually grown on me oddly enough!

      @@solotubernot too bad. If I’m hauling heavy it definitely revs a lot on the hills.

    It shows you what gear you are in while you are in tow haul mode. Surprised no one on TH-cam has figured that out yet.

    The hills between Murfreesboro and 65 are deceptively steep.

      You know, I think you're right. It's rolling hills, so it never feels like you're climbing a mountain, but some of them will are pretty long and arduous!

    You should be at 16g standard trailer and 18.5 gooseneck

    • @JamesonsTractor
      @JamesonsTractor  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Because I derated my GVWR, they dropped the tow rating a bit. I'll have to get a picture of the sticker on the truck but I think i'm rated for 16,800 on the gooseneck.

    I have the same truck. Do you get a whine between shifting. Sound similar to a dry power steering pump

    • @JamesonsTractor
      @JamesonsTractor  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Richard - I have not experienced the whining I don't believe. I'll try to listen between shifts for it.

    You said you were rated to tow 16k. Is your truck also derated to 10k to stay under the 26k or do you have a CDL?

    • @JamesonsTractor
      @JamesonsTractor  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Truck is derated to 10,000 GVWR. I'm about to do another video diving into a few specifics I've learned in the last week or so!

    watched twice. But never seen the total weight of the tractor/trailer

      Hey Doug, I think I said it in the beginning of the video. At this time, I was under the impression that my trailer weighed 5000lbs and the tractor I've estimated at 7,000. I went to the scales recently and the trailer is actually 6,000lbs. So I'm estimating this as a 13,000lb load.
