New Wampler Pinnacle Deluxe v2 - Breaking outside of the Brown Sound...

Until today, the Pinnacle Deluxe has been known as the "EVH" brown sound type of pedal. While I do love that sound, I've worked hard over the past few months in taking the basic "engine" of the Pinnacle, and giving it many more sounds and textures, making it much more than a one trick pony.
I'm proud to present to you, the newest Pinnacle Deluxe (V2), what I like to call jokingly the Pinnacle Deluxe Deluxe. The Pinnacle Deluxe (V2) boasts new gain stages, 3 band EQ, completely independent 'lime green' style pre gain booster (sounds excellent pushing other dirt pedals or the gain channel of your amp as well), ANOTHER gain boost switch, 2 different gain voicings, top jacks, a SAG switch for those of you with hot pickups or if you just like your distortion tighter, soft switches with true bypass relays, and a massive graphical tweak. I do believe this may be the comprehensive update to the Pinnacle that a LOT of people have been waiting for!
    Released 28th October 2016 here: www.wamplerped...

Gonna have to get this pedal in honor of EVH passing away today.. It's been on my list quite a while .. Adding it to my Keeley Fuzz bender, Oxblood, Caverns v2 , Joyo maximum od, Uzi, Boss Ch2 Super chorus.. What pedal would you recommend for a modern Rat and modern fuzz .. I'm a huge Gilmour fan.. I'm looking at that Plexi pedal too .. Like the Filaments and the Palladium and recently really looking into the Laney monolith..

This is my all time favorite overdrive/ distortion pedal, I had lost faith in distortion pedals till I tried this one. The fact that it has a “TS” style gain boost that can be used independently gives my two pedals in one. Also thanks for making pedals that use batteries! I’m the player that likes a Wah, a gain pedal and amp.

Awesome job on this Brian!!! Out of all my "brown sound" pedals including the Friedman, Bogner and JHS that I own the Pinnacle is by far the most useable. Just sounds very warm and organic and cuts thru so good in a band situation.

This is the BEST vintage sounding distortion pedal EVER. I have the Deluxe 1 but I am going to get this one. It pairs well with just about any amp, alnico pickups, single coil's or HB's but especially w high output alnico HB's. IMHO, the secret sauce of the Pinnacle are its dynamics which are better than any other pedal. Roll your guitar volume back and you'll be amazed at how well it cleans up and replicates the dynamics of a Marshall dimed up to 10 with your guitar volume at 3, 5, 7 or 10.

We’re certainly grateful to have a pedal designer/builder who is obsessive about achieving THE best tone he can from each unit you produce. The Pinnacle Deluxe is just that - the pinnacle - in distortion pedals IMO. This covers such a wide range, from OD to Distortion, that I find myself considering a second one to take out any others on my pedal board and have them set differently. Thumbs up to you for a fantastic product again. 👍

  • @chronicfatigue5416

I just bought the standard version of this pedal and I am quite impressed. I bought it to replace my MXR '78. The MXR is too bright and buzzy, and has what I call the "bees in a beer can" tone.
This pedal has no such issue, even at the highest gain settings. It's touted to have that EVH brown sound, which it certainly does, but the tones go way beyond that. It's ridiculously dynamic, as well. Soft finger picking to hard pick strokes take you from a edge of breakup clean to full crunch. Very nice pedal.

Fantastic pedal from what I see in this video and I can see what you're doing, and it's a great modification! I have a 5150distMXR pedal and love it.....but I'm gonna give this a shot, which says a lot....cause I like a certain kinda sound, but I love the boost option and that sound seems to be here too. I use your Egocomp and love it more than the Boss Blue Comp pedal that I had in my rig 3 years ago. I hadn't had the opportunity to try the previous incarnation of the Pinnacle, but was already thinking of one when I saw this pop up!!! Great pedals....and great playing! That Tele sounds so good!!! Versatile....Heavy to Country!

Brian, I totally agree with what you said about the "boost" side (if it's the same circuit as in the Plexi Drive Deluxe). That boost is almost my favorite effect - sounds AMAZING with my Big Muff into it, and sounds amazing INTO my Flux Five. Plus it sounds AMAZING into the Plexi Drive Deluxe, and not half bad on its own! Great video, awesome pedal.

  • @tedcabana

The "Pinnacle Deluxe" pedal is extremely versatile. I've used it in many various phase modes on my last two CryBaby Creek albums, VERA IX, and No Resolve. Listen to the tracks "Bad Self," "Sea Of Soul," and "Push Harder," to hear what the Pinnacle sounds like in a recording studio situation. And I will use it again on future recordings. But make sure tp run it through a good tube amp, with a well made, "?X12" speaker cab, like a Marshall, Carvin, or Boogie. I used the Vintage setting because it has a less-harsh, high end-treble. More of a warm midrange tone with smooth highs and lows. The Modern setting sounds great as well, but dial back that treble for a more ear friendly tone. The boost adds a nice, rich, sustain to the overall grind, but the gain-switch setting gets a bit noisy. Alone with just the boost, gives a subtle amount of gain over a clean channel. Classic tube-driven tones, "ala- Hendrix/Stevie Ray," great vintage amp vibes. Versatility is the only way to describe it. Versatility with many classic- to- modern possibilities. I think Wampler broke the mold with this pedal. Ive never heard anything like it in a metal stomp box.

On the verge of buying this and I have one question: how similar is the boost, in isolation, to the Clarksdale? My bigger board runs Crybaby Q-tuner-Tumnus Deluxe-Dumkudo-Pantheon-Ego then delays followed by a Clarksdale for boost before a Fender Treverb. The Clarksdale is an amazing clean boost. I was using an EP but have taken to using a Princeton RI rather than my 135watt Twin. The Princeton didn't like the EP's bottom end up good Lord it loves the Clarksdale. As far as dirt on the new, smaller and more transportable board, I'm trying to limit myself to the Plexi-Mini and, most likely, the Pinnacle Deluxe V2. Is the Pinnacle boost going to give me pretty much the same pick sensitivity and fizzless tone as the Clarksdale? Thanks to any helpful commenters.

Damn... another pedal to buy... it never ends.
Side-note... I really wish you'd go back to the screw type DC inputs. Those flush ones... when you put your board in a soft case, the DC pole can push those DC jacks in/around, whereas the screw mount ones don't move. I've got a green Tremolo pedal mounted on the top row of my board and it has the non-screw DC input. Every time I unpack my board, I have to push the DC input poll down, because during transit, it gets pushed up so the black plastic piece is inside the enclosure, and the pole shorts out against the pedal enclosure.

Oh Brian...You are a Wizard!! Don't have the $ at the moment to get this today, but this will be my next pedal! Of course I got an IndyGuitarist Plextortiom about a month and a half ago...and of course the one reason I went for that(awesome pedal in its own right) as opposed to the previous Pinnacle Deluxe was the 3band eq that the Pinnacle lacked! Whelp, you certainly know how to separate guitarists from their money!!! You've made a 3 run home run of a pedal into a Grand Slam!
I do have one question, and this is just because I can't think of anything else that could be done to make this pedal better: Would there be any way that an expression jack(trs hookup) could be added so someone could set up a simple foot switch that could allow one to switch from the vintage/modern settings without needing to physically reach down and flip the switch on the pedal? Please don't take that as a criticism in any way! That's the only thing I can possibly think of, and it's just a "convenience" thing rather than making anything "better!"
You're truly the King of Dirt, I and everyone should salute you!!

Cool. A previous version is my high gain pedal. My main rock guitar has a Duncan Custom 5 with a coil split in the bridge and a Duncan P90 in the neck. My issue is the ideal clean pickup height creates a bunch sag with the humbucker when the pedal is active. It sags really badly and I needed to really lower the bridge pickup.
The real question is do I spend $240 just for the sag switch?

So in short you wanted a all in one OD pedal? I am after that very thing, a pedal that will give me any OD tone i am after from Classic Marshall crunch to a old 1968 SLP with everything on 10 and with a variac lowering the volts to a high gain SLO type of tone.

I can't afford anymore Wampler pedals (there bloody expensive in Australia)!! Great job Brian, nice touch on the Tush and Pearl Jam, so many pedals...

Badass Pedal man WOW, I really like all the tones you got with it. I must have one. I can add all those tones to the things I do.
I'm usually a Amp Drive kinda guy but my amp is a 1 trick pony on the gain side which is High Gain. So I have a Fender like clean channel so I know I'll be able to achieve awesome tones with this pedal as an option on my board.
    Nice work my man!

Why always a Fender amp? You have so many different amps a/b some of the different amps with the pedals.

brian just dunked the ball on all overdrive tones. every pedal ive heard of his is amp like. however i wish he woukd revisit the vox type pedals. maybe its something im doing wrong but i never quite nailed that perfect ac tone with the pedal. for all modulation strymon is the king for me.

I bought the original deluxe pedal a year ago and the new one has the features that the one I bought lacked. OK so I'll get the new one but what can I do with the old one? Can you offer a mod or something that we can utilise? Just asking. Doesn't hurt to ask!

I just bought the Digital Pedal for Amplitube 4.
THANK YOU, KIND SIR, for making the Pinnacle Deluxe available!
Are you planning on making V2 available as well?
Thank you again for the digital version of it.
    Cheers!

Since you wanted the Pinnacle Deluxe to have the classic to modern sounds, how would differentiate the Pinnacle Deluxe from the Plexi Deluxe? More gain/distortion?

Would this sound good with a Marshall DSL40C (w/ G12M-65 Creamback from Sweetwater)?

Hey Brian you sold me! I was torn between the Plexi Drive Deluxe and the Pinnacle Deluxe v2. I ordered mine yesterday on preorder from Musicians Friend. Thanks for the demo and I look forward to trying it out!

If I combine the regular Pinnacle with the Tumnus Deluxe would that be the equivalent of the Pinnacle Deluxe?

Will this give a massive way huge Hendrix-Stevie Ray type tones? If not, what do you have to help get those types of tones?

Just a question Brian. Will you ever design a pedal that utilises actual valves/ tubes ? You know like the old pedals that did use valves or tubes.

Wonderful, another pedal I have to acquire. I can then sell the Pinnacle Limited I've had for several years. It's one of my faves, but I can't pass this new one up, and it does everything my old one does, and more.

    Hi Brian.
First of all thank you for your pedals!
I’m the owner of 6 Wampler OD/Distortion pedals.
Was wondering what type of Tube Screamer is on Pinnacle Delux boost switch (the right one)
Is it TS9 or TS10 type?
Wondering because I got Wampler Moxie pedal and thinking if I could use it instead of the booster on the Pinnacle Deluxe or it’s gonna be different sound.
Thank you in advance for your answer Brian.

On the pin dlx it’s more of a ts9 but the differences between ts10 and ts9/808 is pretty minimal. The Moxie has some great tweaks to that type of circuit though

Hello all! I really dig this pinnacle V2 but I'd love to be able to controle It with a switcher ala Dual Fusion. Is there a Wampler Custom shop?
