    The Angry Charlie got the better VH tone in this test and to be honest i am hearing
    more harmonic activity from the AC,
    The Pinnacle is nice but i think the AC would be better for me.
    The Bogner La Grange is the running as well.

      Pc Gamer 5150 Both are very good but currently I am using AC for high gain rhythm VH tones. There are several good options out these days but the AC is definitely a solid choice.

    Pretty much the best I've ever heard both of these pedals sound. I own the Pinnacle but I have to admit, the AC is pretty badass here.

    Great video Dave and nice playing. I have been gigging alot lately and it just drives me nuts that every time I set up my gear for a show, I have to spend time on the Pinnacle to dial in the sound to the one I want. Today I picked up an Angry Charlie v2 and I couldn't believe how at first plug in I was impressed immediately and how the sound was all there, as you said, and then it was such a minor tweak to get it exact. Loved it.

    own both, the AC is much fuller sounding to me. selling the Pinnacle.

    The AC to me seems like it's more of a set it and tweak it a little pedal where the Pinnacle can probably get the same tones but may require a little tone tweaking. Overall they're pretty close though.

      Yea the AC you can just plug in and get that sound and can tweak the amount of gain and eq. The Pinnacle has more knobs and takes a bit more to dial it in. But they both are similar. I would be fine with either one. If I was looking to get one I’d just go with the one I could get the better deal on. Also the JHS AT version is a bit more flexible and has 3 gain levels with a switch and a boost.

    I own an AC but not a Pinnacle. Was surprised at how flat the Pinnacle sounds compared to the AC. Definitely sticking with my AC.

      Slashaholic Anonymous I have the older version of the pinnacle. It gets fuzzy and can't handle certain amps. The Andy Timmons AC and the AC are 2 of my favorites.

    Awesome Dave. I was looking for VH on the angry Charlie. Thanks!

    I see a lot of love for the AC here. But most of Pinnacle demo was done on vintage mode with the boost off based on Dave's preference. Not fair IMO since the AC is a modern pedal

    had the pinnacle first, then got the charlie, sold the pinnacle the next day, the charlie has that fat crunch tone, and harmonics jump off the strings. you don't need a lot of EQ with the charlie, it sounds great, just tweak to your liking

    Should do a side by side against the gearbox and the new at+

    Sounds to me like the Pinnacle is more EVH, while the Angry Charlie is more AC/DC. Both great, though!

    • @daveblairmusic
      @daveblairmusic  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Steve Herb Id say from using it in practice the AC is more high gain than AC/DC. id say their sound is cleaner than most people think and ACs sweet spot is more mid to high gain. Can you do AC/DC with it sure. But when pulling the gain back on AC pedal its not its sweet spot. I started using the Andy Timmons version which has some more headroom and has a mich wider range of gain sweet spots. I'll be doing a demo and comparison with AC in the near future. I was skeptical that it might just be an AC with minor tweaks so they could sell a signature version but there are some real differences I'll review.

      The Plexi Drive is the AC/DC pedal - nails it. These are both going for the brown sound. The AC I think has less gain than the Pinnacle, so you may often run it higher.

    Interesting - I have the Tumnus and AC on my board and the Tumnus wins in overall tone. Yet here the AC is more soulful despite more gain

    Hi! Do they have the same amount of gain or does one have more than the other? Have you tried the JHS Andy Timmons, if so, does it have more gain than the angry Charlie?

    • @daveblairmusic
      @daveblairmusic  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They both have a lot of gain. I'd normally never use either one with the gain maxed out. pinnacle does have the boost setting to give a bit more gain but can also get a little noisy is ya push the gain all the way up. I haven't tried the AT but from what I hear it has more headroom so you could push the gain up without it compressing so much. I think Pinnacle is a bit more flexible but the AT is easier to just turn on and get a great sound without tweaking. I think in the video I push the gain up pretty high on both so you can get an idea.

    • @coffeewaldo
      @coffeewaldo 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Peter Aasheim I have all 3. The AT has a toggle switch to choose 25, 50 and 100 watts. So u can get high gain which I love medium gain and than a less saturated sound with the 100 watt setting it's great love it.

    • @MrDaveblair
      @MrDaveblair 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did wind up getting the Andy Timmons version which has more headroom and is more flexible with the wattage toggle switch. I plan on doing a shootout between AT and AC soon. I've been gigging with AT at 100w with 18v power. I feel the extra headroom make it sound less like a pedal and more room for dynamics and playing nuances. Too much gain always feels good but doesn't really cut through in a mix and blurs playing nuances.

    nice video .. you think the ac will do the slash tone?

    • @daveblairmusic
      @daveblairmusic  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      motto sierra I don't know if any pedal will nail any specific player's tone. there are a lot of factors including the way they touch the strings, amp, guitar, etc. That being said I've done GNR tunes with it and sounded good and it's gets you in that Marshall plexi zone so it will get you in the right ballpark. I read that Slash went through a ton of guitars and was not getting a good sound on Appetite until he came across this one custom made Les Paul that nailed it.

    • @mottosierra1372
      @mottosierra1372 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      daveblairmusic yes its very hard get that tone , thank you and keep upload your videos..

    • @cupolove1
      @cupolove1 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I actually prefer the pinnacle for that tone. and surprisingly, i find it easier to get with the amp set cleaner and only using the pedal for gain.

    • @daveblairmusic
      @daveblairmusic  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Darien Cruz Music Also note that there is a new pinnacle that just came out as well as 2 other AC versions. I've gotten good sounds running on clean amp as well as crunchy amp. I think a bug part of slash lead tone is the Les Paul in neck position.

    • @cupolove1
      @cupolove1 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      daveblairmusic good point. and as far as amps go, a les paul into the silver jubilee amp pretty much gets you there
