Timi Racko Hey everyone, the greatest success that ive had was by using the Magic Painter Method (i found it on google) definately the best course that I have ever followed.
You mentioned letting it bake to let it smooth out. I use an infrared heater that’s about three feet long and I mount it on a stand for side panels or from the ceiling for the hood or roof. After spraying, I let the solvents flash out, with some decent airflow across the panel, maybe 5-10 minutes depending on environment vs. reducer speed, then apply the infrared, not too close, not too far, maybe 18” away. One foot is a bit close, two feet is very safe, long term. I have witnessed the lamp smooth out runs if I put the lamp pretty close and keep it moving across the run. I can’t explain how, maybe it heats the paint enough to soften the run, or maybe the heat expands the paint a little and the run turns into “flat”, instead of “raised”. But it works, especially if you catch it before the run dries. The heat can help flash the paint, but if you do it too quickly after spraying, it can dry the last(top) coat and not the first one, and ugly things can happen down the road. This method is most effective on vertical surfaces, and if you are getting runs on flat surfaces, well, practice. It happens, like when I stop to tie my shoe mid spray. It’s kinda hard to tie your shoe with one hand and spray with the other.
Beautiful! I've been using some of your vids during this Covid-19 stuff for my students. Keep up the good work. If this was a solid black, I would like to say as an instructor, I would use the same gun for black sealer, and base coat, clean my gun out by hand, not in a washer after sealer, obviously. Split the base coat in half, clean the gun out again by hand, after the first or second coat of base, then spray the remaining base coat for the last coat. This helps to insure no metallics, or pearl transfer (poison), from your paint gun, in your solid black paint job. There's nothing worse, than checking out your job outside, and seeing a couple flashes of kick ass pearl in your solid black! Wonderful content, you're an awesome instructor!! Thank-you for what you are doing, it's helping us all during this time! Production shop painter for 21 years, Instructor for 10.......Loving it!
Thanks for your comment! And yes been there before. Metallics in a solid black finish. We all learn the hard way sometimes. Thanks for your service in this industry.
That looks awesome. I actually have a 2000 Ford Mustang at home. 3.8L V6 engine with automatic transmission. She's currently in a Racing Green color scheme, but I've been thinking of repainting her in Viper Black with blue flames. Due to her green color, I call her Jade
Great videos. Can you do a video explaining the differance between types of paint jobs. Sealer primer top clear functions. Im only up to grips with primer top and clear laquer being as ive only done simple spray can jobs.
I've sprayed almost the same product.lesonal!!.with the same gun and booth.ive found a longer purge before bake helped with the clear not dying back or shrinking to much
Would you be able to do a base or clear coat mixing video. I have a hard time with figuring out ratios and what not when mixing my paints. I really like your teaching style and I genuinely believe you could really help a lot of people with that sort of video.

Hello brother i have 1 question . I own a BMW X5 E53 2005 Grey colour and baige interior and i want to paint it black to look Luxury what paint i must choose any tip will be helpfull thank you .(the car i will take it to a professional )
SLA4YER GAMING I’ll do a video on the used of sealer. I have met with many paint manufacture and reps in which we have discussed the issues for sealer. Thanks for being a part of my page and god bless you into the new year
When it comes to the layers you’re putting down, 1 layer of sealer for perfect coverage and 1 solid coat of base is a better alternative than 3 layers of base, and risking solvent pop due to the amount of layers trying to dry beneath the other few layers. I believe sealer and base is the way to go..
@@sla4yergaming129 What does that have to do with painting. If it was a airplane it would be different because weight and balance have to be precise. But not one shop that i have ever gone to or worked at ever pulled out a paint thickness gauge.
Do you watch the wet reflection when you paint or do you watch the paint melting in? I have not heard you talk about what you are looking at while you paint, but I have not watched all your videos yet. I would like to watch you paint an old Harley hinged rear fender, I never use to have problems painting them years ago, but do now with everything being such high build. Thank you for taking the time to make your videos.
Awesome vid!!! By the way, what was the spray can that was used on the hood? Some sort of blender? Would love to know for those instances where there’s no need to spray the entire area on a good color match....thanks!!!
Brian, I have a question and this might be the right video to ask. 2004 expedition. Hood has some chip spots and will definitely need a refinish, (paint and clear). The rest of the vehicles paint looks good but, the clear coat has been buffed so thin and cut to the point that I am afraid to buff and cut again. Will it be alright, when I repaint the hood to go on and scuff the rest of the vehicle and re-clear over the entire vehicle? Saving a lot of paint is the idea... I appreciate your help. Phillip Hall
I can guarantee you that you’re not gonna be able to sand and scuff up that clear and not burn through the paint, it’s best if you just go ahead and put base over it and repaint the rest of the vehicle
That puts that question to rest.. Looks like I have a bigger job than I expected lol. Well, the old expedition should look as good as new when all is said and done! Thank you sir for your valuable information. Phillip Hall
The best is to check your tds for proper Paint manufacturer recommendations. However you’ll know when the sealer, base is flashed off. It’s hard to give an exact answer because all materials, temperature will vary. Typically though. From sealer 20 minutes, base 10 minutes between coats. 20 before clear. 10 minutes between coats for clear. I can speed things up in the booth though with heat.
looks good, but if i sprayed that much clear at one time, it would be running all over the place, he mad 4 passes over the fender panel edge without letting it tack
Thank you very much! Liked, subscribed and shared. My absolute favorite TH-cam channel by far.
Damn now thats a nice finish, gotta love how the supernova lays it down. As always flawlees work bro
Totally lays it flat and smooth. Honestly my favorite gun. Looking back on this video reminds me of when I started back up on TH-cam!

When you did your first coat of sealer on the hood.... what was it that you sprayed around your sealer with the can? For what and why ???
Its a spotblender to blend in the sealer edges.
That's just Magnificent work bro 😀

BodeVision the can is a blender used to melt away the sealer edge so it doesn’t dry gritty, so I can base right over.

Great Chanel. I’ve got a question. In your opinion is gloss black an easy colour to apply as a beginner to a white van. Thanks

I don't have any experience with the neutralizer but would it have helped in this case with the dirt nib in the clear? Could it have prevented it?
To say it would have totally prevented dirt can’t be said. I will say it works best in plastic bumpers to eliminate the static
What is te exact name of the sealer what you use?
Colorbuild
Distance of gun..????
Why do you use sealer over primer? Once primer is rubbed down it's ready to be based over.
It can be But we use sealer for coverage and for adhesion and it is the best substrate for basecoat
