They should have watched The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe to study how to show "photorealistic" feral-style animal characters' emotions before they made the Lion King remake!
When I first saw the trailer of the remake the first thought of mine was, that Aslan and the other animals showed more expression than them in that movie which is just 14 year apart.
They could have also you know.. used the Jungle Book too.. like that was expressive as well. I don't understand why it was just so bad on that remake. I hope this Mufasa movie is actually at least fun to see visually.
Oh just wait he’s not royal but Sarabi is the kings daughter and through marriage to her he will be come king. In other words get ready for a complete shit show.
Dont be fooled. They already ruined it by saying "not a drop of nobility in his blood" what? Mufasa was supposed to be descended from KINGS he was not the FIRST King. They are going back on everything they originally established in The Lion King. Whats next? Scar is the good guy? No, screw this movie and Disney. Also WTF is an Arctic lion? There is NO SUCH THING. Scar and Mufasa are brothers, they have the same mother and father, that was already established.
i watched the trailer and was genuinely excited, until i read the plot and was instantly disappointed... i was hoping itd be a movie about scar and mufasas childhood, but they added kiara (making it a slight sequel) and totally ruined the lore of the lion king.... it totally ruined it for me...
I don’t like the part where they said he don’t have a dropper royalty blood then where the scar come from because that’s his brother and they talked about their father even in the remake where their father was king
Even though he’s not even in the trailer just the single line of Mufasa being said to have no nobility makes me kinda feel bad for Scar honestly. Apparently Mufasa is going to be Scar’s (in this movie he’s called Taka, apparently Scar’s just an alias that people started calling him because of his scar) adopted brother so Scar is actually the rightful heir. I just imagine Scar having his I Just Can’t Wait to be King moment then, from Scar’s perspective, this random low born peasant little shit suddenly comes into his life and ends up being daddy’s favourite son and it turns out Mufasa’s the older, bigger, stronger and more charismatic of the two, just a better leader in every pretty much every way so the throne that was rightfully Scar’s ends up being taken away from him by a guy who wasn’t born into royalty so technically Mufasa doesn’t even have any real claim to said throne.
At that point I don't see why they couldn't try and make Shakespear's Othello. Because that sounds like Othello, but keep it to the idea that Othello character is supposed to represent the new guy that is book smart, and Iago that ha the experience.
But there are certain types of foxes (I’m guessing that’s what the creature design is based off of) that have big ears though. These include Fennec Foxes, Cape Foxes, Bat Eared Foxes, Pale Foxes, and Blanford’s Foxes.

Winnie the Pooh 2011 was their last 2D hand drawn theatrically released movie. It was good but had to compete with Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows (can’t remember if it was part one or two) so it flopped.
@@aaronforsythe8556 Not really. If you’re doing it digitally like MLP movie 2017 then it’s actually cheaper. It’s the animation cells that are used in traditional animation that are pricey but there’s other ways to do hand drawn without using cells.

Prequels are hard. Prequels years after the original is difficult. Far off Prequels involving a beloved mentor or parental figure that has already went through their journey is inadvisable. Modern Disney does not have the capability to even come close to pull this off. Having Mufasa not be royalty is a red flag in itself.
The teaser trailer gave some really big red flags in regards to writing "without a drop of nobility in his blood" retcons Mufasa's talk with Simba in being part of a line of Kings, and another retcon in that same conversation is when the narrator says "a lion who would change our lives forever" indicates that he's the progenitor of the circle of life in pride rock not a part of it's cycle. I'm probably reading too much into it, but this smells of a typical bad prequel in the same vain as how WISH approached things, but I do agree it is presenting itself a lot better than that horrible remake.

Well Alteori, I’m afraid they’ve done Mufasa so wrong in terms of backstory. In the original, Mufasa and Taka/Scar were brothers+sons of Ahadi and Uru. When Mufasa was chosen to be the next king over Scar, he was seething in hatred;made worse with the final straw being Simba’s birth, and you get the idea from there. As for modern Disney, I wouldn’t trust the composer who brought the disgraceful song by Scuttle in The Little Mermaid remake.
It definitely sounds like a soft retcon to call him an orphan and not of nobility, based on the scene Mufasa shared with Simba after the hyena incident. He definitely implies his father had the same conversation that he would be a king in the stars as others before him. The only work around is giving Mufasa a star conversation scene like Simba had as an adult, but that's literally retreading the original if that's what happens to justify it.

I'm interested to see how this movie depicts their back story
I also think that in the snowy mountain maybe who knows maybe this is a flashback of the prehistoric days when lions lived in frozen parts of Eurasia in North America
To answer your questions regarding Lions in snow, there was a subspecies of Lion called Barbary Lions (also known as Atlas Lions and Nubian Lions). They were larger in size and had longef fur as they from North Africa, particularly in colder, snowy areas, likw the Atlas Mountains. They went extinct sometime in the last century, but I'm assuming that the implication here is that Mufasa is a Barbary Lion.

I'm getting some major red flags from this trailer. First, a lot of it feels like bait on a hook, like how the Obi-wan Kenobi trailer used Duel of the Fates to entice Prequel fans, despite the track never playing throughout the show's entire runtime. Second, there is a major departure of the lore that Mufasa doesn't have a single drop of nobility in his blood. In the original Lion King, Mufasa told Simba that his father told him that every star represents a past king of the Pride Lands, heavily implying beyond reasonable doubt that Mufasa hails from a great liniage of kings. Removing that also destroys Scar as a character, even so far as to delegitimize his ambition and motivations. Then there's the casting. It was abysmal in the Remake, and they obviously sticking to it.
I think Timone and Poomba are a mistake. They are cameoed in all of them. The circle of life demonstrates lots of animals. Feature and elephant, giraffe or hippo. They are rarely killed by lions so they can actually teach the circle without being threatened, but still fulfill the role upon one's inevitable death. Showing predator or prey, everyone is accepting of the circle, but determined for life. Simple message, makes sense enough. The starving don't respect the circle thus the Hyenas and scar. Cause the starving can't enjoy life on empty. All motivations clear. Now watch them fuck it up. Just pray it's better than mine.
2:54 They must have COMPLETELY forgot about their own kids show Lion guard I guess... The line of kings and lion guards completely forgotten or reconed 😂 Yes I watched it with my family who were OBSESSED with it as kids. (lil babies)But as a full adult? Boy was that show annoying. However I could at least follow the plot and there was a segment showing Scar being the leader of the lion guard and well... Mufasa being portrayed as well kind of a jerk.
This is the best channel on youtube. That Lion King Intro is pure 1995 nostalgia ngl holy shit I can't not think of the OG movie when I hear that. Even more so for my wife
I think I would've given this movie a chance if they had just done this in 2D. Doing this as live action still separates the real lion king from this story, and it just feels so disassociated and lifeless. I don't know why Disney is afraid to do this, but if they had chosen this movie to return to their old ways, then I bet a lot more people would be receptive to it. Also retconning Mufasa's nobility was probably not a good idea, because his nobility was touched on in the Lion King and I think also in the Lion Guard? I know there is a story involving him and Scar, and this one line seems to go against it, which is not what most of us fans wanted. Personally, it just doesn't give me good faith in this movie no matter how much better it looks compared to the lion king remake. Because you're right it's definitely more expressive, but it's still to me like polishing a terd
About the snow, I doubt they're living in a snowy environment is probably just the top of a mountain like Kilimanjaro in the animated sequel to the TLK

Wow, this actually looks like a Disney movie. That trailer almost made me forget what year it was. Had me feeling like I was in the 90s again. That was a well-made trailer.
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who actually LIKED this teaser. Also, I'm looking forward to what sort of story they'll make Mufasa's backstory into. But yeah, the expressions look like the animators & artists really stepped up their game & actually listened to the people who criticized the expressionless characters of TLK19. If anything, this should be BETTER than TLK19... and I'm genuinely excited for December!
Before Reddit took it down the post of The Lion King subreddit someone posted a clip a musical clip from Mufasa which was shown at the D23 conference. I still have it on my phone and send it to my sister, which her and I are big Lion King fans. It was our, or THE film we watched on VHS. I admit it is a 180 turn from the 2019 film, but still does not capture the heart and soul of what The original 1994 animated film did. The song that was featured at the D23 is "I always wanted a Brother" a song cub Taka (Scar) sings a duet with Mufasa. I had to look up the lyrics to what they are actually singing about because first look hearing it it didn't click what they were talking or singing. Partly because the lyrics was written by Lin guy who did the lyrics to Hamilton, and it doesn't capture the heart of Aftrica the way the original 1994 film. God I miss the days when Disney actually hired actual Broadway lyricalists and writers for their films, and not edgy pop song writers. Tim Rice, Howard Ash...knew how to tell a story in the way the songs where sung by the characters in a profound way. Those days are long gone now. As much as I would like to give this hope, it is going to flop and rot on the shelf along with the rest of these 'live-action' remakes. People want, I mean WANT Disney to go back to what Walt started and bring back old 2d animation again. So sad that a gaming studio, Riot Games, and Foriche are bringing what the people want. Have it be 3D but put more stylize art and move away from realism. How Riot Games did and made Arcane season 1, it looks like a moving oil painting in a steampunk world. Like I want to be where this world exist. Arcane is a work of art, this isn't. A Netflix animated show is beating out the great Walt Disney yall.
As a South-african I can tell you if you ain't on a high @$$ mountain (where lions have no business at) you will not see snow like that that covers the ground like it's the freaking artic . Love your takes lass, your movie tastes align quite well with mine and you make really entertaining vids. Glad to have you sifting out the shitshows for me
I'm convinced the emoting animals is a trap. I think they listened to that particular criticism so they could lure people in to see a story about how Simba's dad was a massive bumbling stuck up fool who's the actual one at fault for how the pride lands got in the OG movie and Scar was secretly the hero trying to stop/fix it all along.
When the first Lion King appeared. lots of folks remarked that the story came from "Kimba: the White Lion", one of the first anime. So, they decided to make a white lion the menacing figure in this story. It's a way of giving Kimba the middle finger.
I've learnt enough from Disney that when they use the music from The Originals it's just nostalgia bait to get you in and watch their bad movies, whatever you do don't eat the member berries.
Tbh the 2019 movie could've at least used animal emotes, like when Nala and Simba were scared, have their ears told back or tail tucked

I strongly believe that James Earl Jones made Mufasa the One True Lion King 👑 🦁
this might be the return of good disney
I’m honestly interested in this too
Civil war: "THE TRAILER LIED!"
Mufasa: "But this trailer good"
Poor Altereo. She just doesn't learn...
This is the best channel on youtube.
That Lion King Intro is pure 1995 nostalgia ngl holy shit I can't not think of the OG movie when I hear that. Even more so for my wife
I hope they to explore why scar became such a horrible lion
His mother got kicked off a cliff by Mufasa's ninja-hyena's.
Your new "avatar" Kitsune are adorable
I guess im not much of a Glutton... if it is good, ill let others find that out.
Lion king is one of my favorite movies. I never saw the remake so this looks so uncanny to me
I’ve been burned too much by Disney to trust that this is any good.
Thank you. Someone is finally talking about the expressions of the characters.😊
The 2019 remake is what killed my childhood and any anticipation for a new Disney movie.
About the snow, I doubt they're living in a snowy environment is probably just the top of a mountain like Kilimanjaro in the animated sequel to the TLK
Hello Alteori.
MUFASA. Mmm, I'm not sure about this movie, I'll stick to the animated movie but the trailers looks interesting. Let's see where it goes.
Anyway, another great video, Alteori, I like it, see you in the next one.
Alteori you should review lion guard its terrible honesty. Thats probably not convincing
At least the animals are more expressive 🤷
I can’t be the only one who was reminded of James lee’s work such a classic
I figured it out. Those lions in the snow are actually Detroit Lions. Well done Disney
Can we just have a new season of Prehistoric Planet?!
I for one am hyped for this movie, can't wait to go see it with my bestie
Nope. They're not gonna jangle any colorful keys in front of me to distract from all their mistakes. When it comes out, and you all say it's actually good, maybe... MAYBE, I'll pirate it.
Alteori got some fennec features. Also this trailer shows the film's potential.
Wow, this actually looks like a Disney movie. That trailer almost made me forget what year it was. Had me feeling like I was in the 90s again. That was a well-made trailer.
Is Disney finally listening? Will their stocks make a comeback?
We're getting closer to a V-Tuber Alteori
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who actually LIKED this teaser. Also, I'm looking forward to what sort of story they'll make Mufasa's backstory into.
But yeah, the expressions look like the animators & artists really stepped up their game & actually listened to the people who criticized the expressionless characters of TLK19. If anything, this should be BETTER than TLK19... and I'm genuinely excited for December!
a Mufasa origin story??? no way
0:18 I haven't watched your videos in a long time, this image of you caught me off guard😂
Can we get 5 years of Disney movies that doesn't rely on nostalgia or the need to piggy back on nostalgia.
Love your new design
As a South-african I can tell you if you ain't on a high @$$ mountain (where lions have no business at) you will not see snow like that that covers the ground like it's the freaking artic . When it snow's here looks like god spilled a almost empty baby powder container( so like nothing ) it lasted 3 minutes.
I'm of mixed feelings about the new chibby. I liked the old one so much it's messing with me.
I've been burned so hard on all the re-makes that I don't know if I can give this one a chance. My jaded stone heart might not allow it.
Love your takes lass, your movie tastes align quite well with mine and you make really entertaining vids. Glad to have you sifting out the shitshows for me
The description im the about tab, describes not only wby Timon and Pumba are kinda there but also hints there might be a third movie as well
I'm convinced the emoting animals is a trap. I think they listened to that particular criticism so they could lure people in to see a story about how Simba's dad was a massive bumbling stuck up fool who's the actual one at fault for how the pride lands got in the OG movie and Scar was secretly the hero trying to stop/fix it all along.
That would be fuck-up. Because the priselands prospered under Mufasa in both versions, if I'm not mistaken.
why cast afro actors to voice the lions again? Why can’t it be because of talent?
Because THE MESSAGE -critical drinker
Man, I wish Sideways was back. I wonder what his thoughts are on this, especially the music.
When the first Lion King appeared. lots of folks remarked that the story came from "Kimba: the White Lion", one of the first anime. So, they decided to make a white lion the menacing figure in this story. It's a way of giving Kimba the middle finger.
I just can't care less about this.. Not since I saw the original when it dropped in 1994 did I ever think "I want to know about mufasas younger days"
I've learnt enough from Disney that when they use the music from The Originals it's just nostalgia bait to get you in and watch their bad movies, whatever you do don't eat the member berries.
Cant wait for scar actually getting his scar
As long as Captain Marvel's cat is involved.

Mufasa: The Lion King isn’t original it’s just The Lion King sequels & The Lion Guard but in Live Action!
I love your cute little fox and it’s ever changing styles!
I would be interested if it was Animated and not.... I can't even call this live Action cause even the animals was animated...
For the first time in a VERY long time, I'm actually excited for a Disney movie. What an improvement this is compared to their TLK live action remake!
A Mufasa origin story? Honestly that sounds dope! But not in this live action crap. Whatever happened to classic 2D animated films?
They don't know what there doing
of all the ‘live action’ remake shizney had released, The Jungle Book is the only one I like.
Jungle book was pretty good
Same. It was the only one where they added stuff from the book too.
No. That movie was terrible. My god that kid actor was so bad.
this could be cool but ill do a wait and see for it.
Ah yes, what we all needed. More of the wooden, shallow, hyper-realistic CGI lions.
