V = Versatile VSTROM. Suzuki have said this many times.
Looking forward to serving more 800de vids. Versatile I's e V and duel explorer is the DE
Suzy have done a good job on this ..
Another splendid review good sir!
My grandfather was a Suzuki dealer and it was my first bike ever. The one that started my love for two wheels. The 800 is a real nice bike!
Also glad you got to keep your house Smokey! 😉
Right on! Haha thanks for watching Luke 😁👌
DE = Dual Explorer, the 1050DE is wilder beast. Price and what you get, almost unbeatable
I went for the 2023 1050 non DE since I do 99% asphalt. Lighter (can be lighten even more with mods ), lower, cheaper and has all the electronics I will ever need. Smooth to operate throttle by wire, smooth adjustable hydraulic slipper clutch, quick shifter, cruise control from 25 kph and 2nd gear up, rock solid accesory bar where my Garmin doesn't shake even one bit.... hmmm what else, USB plug close to my tank bag (and at 2A it's pretty powerfull), good looking LCD, amazing sounding motor with plenty of usable power, not thrilling but usable, good brakes, stable front fork, ... I luv it :)) The only thing I need to do is beef up the rear shock/spring for two up and luggage. Hopefully I won't have to touch up the front also afterwards, worst case scenario, maybe some thicker oil.
Fun stuff smokey, thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Just found your channel and subscribed. I like your style buddy!
You are the best brother 👍👍👍
Hey glad to see you on a suzuki
DE Dual Explorer
Go team Suzuki!
More Vstrom 800DE content please.
Susuki says the "V" stands for Versatile, not V Twin.
I drive this bike in germany, also the hornet 750, both fantastics bikes❤❤
The 800 de for many Kilometers, and the hornet for home tracks
According to Suzuki the v strands for versatile, in either way Suzuki wasn’t going to throw away 20 years of brand recognition by calling it a p-strom or something :)
Hahaha 😂 P-Strom 🙈
V- Strom....ie. Vertical Twin...lol
@@neilbutterfield5340 No, V as in the engine shape. Which is no longer relevant.
The V in the Vstrom is from the original 90deg V engine in the DL1000.
Great review smokey!! Please could u share the adventure riding kit you wearing looks great 👍 👌
It's the newest Alpinestars Bogota 😌
@LifeofSmokey Appreciate your reply loving your passion for bikes just like me 👌👌👌👌
Great review. Did you try the A mode? Seemed like wheelies was tried in B mode as well as the highway pulls. Thank you and keep up the great work😊💪👍
Strom also means current or power in scandinavia
Yes I did , I just can't remember what it did 😂.
Desert Express.
I'd buy this bike if it had one simple thing...cruise control. How come I can by almost half price CFMoto 700CL and that comes with cruise control....maybe CFMoto pays them money to keep it off...I dunno. Otherwise great bike Suzuki and great review as always Smokey!
They should have put an 18" wheel on the rear. Personally, I would rather have tubeless wheels too. Otherwise, it looks like a great bike!
Nice review.. Any thoughts regarding comparisons to the Honda Transalp?
The Suzuki feels faster in the mid range so prefer that one. The Honda does feel like it could keep riding for 30 years without breaking down 😁
@LifeofSmokey does the Honda FEEL allot lighter?
i'm from belgium myself, getting my motorcycle license next month, would love to know where you go off-road with your motorcycle since you aren't allowed to ride most backroads here in belgium :)
You are allowed to ride everywhere you want , you just need to pay money and you are good to go :-). But the more people that find my paths , the faster more people will come here , the faster I'm gonna get caught haha.
V has always stood for versatile..has nothing to do with the motor
How was the wind protection on highway? The wind shield is just a wind deflector, it looks tiny, but sometimes a not so big wind deflector is better than the taller ones…
Not that good compared with other brands , not bad like a naked bike but could use the bigger screen 😁
No protection at all 😂 Tested one.
Fantastic bike but three isdues to solve:
- heating on right leg
- vibration in right feet
- tube tires
This exhaust placed so high is also not a clever idea; collision with panniers (you have to use distance and it will have influence on bike ballance)
Some vibrations in the feet indeed 😌
de means dual explorer.
Have you riden a bmw r18? I did not find the video
Not yet 😁
German for strong is stark.
Hey Smokey- have you considered a "Smokey rides.." series. Smokey rides trials, Smokey Rides Enduro' Smokey rides Circuit, Smokey rides Drag ( I already wrote the jokes for this one!)
Manufacturers would get coverage for the bikes and we get an entertaining series
Gonna sell my enduro cause I'm not riding it anymore , also not riding on a circuit a lot. Mostly I'm out and about minding my own business somewhere in the woods 😁. But I'm working on some kind of plan like that 😅🙈
Any idea when they will launch in India ?
No sorry 😌
compared to the transalp, which was more plesant overall?
The Suzuki 😌
@@LifeofSmokeySuzuki. But to improve heating, tube tires, vibration in the right feet (starts at 5000)
this issue with the engine heat and second the weight is the two things that i m worried about for this bike.i live in a hot country.if we ad the looks i think i ll go for the transalp.or maybe tenere.but, for all the other things i like this bike @@podunkman2709
Dual explore
Smile factor just seems like it is missing.
The excitement seems to be lacking, as is typical in most Japanese ADV bikes.
After 1290, this ?)
Yeah no not gonna happen , 1390 coming 😁
@@LifeofSmokeywait to see how KTM give the next gen. After GS 1300 launch 😂
:) do you have some leaks for the release trailer. Hehhehe. Asking for a friend.
The VStrom 1050 would be a great motoecycle. But its so underpowered vs the 1290's similar V-2
In Nederland noemen we A=agressief B=braaf voor ridemodes C is lekker zelf verzinnen met regen 😂
Haha nice one :-)
maybe DEssert🙂
nothing make sense anymore regarding tha naming. why does fiat call it 500 when it doesn't have a 500cc. some say it's a homage, i say it's lazyness
I'm a little disappointed!
you complain about it having only 84 HP. I ride a T7 with 74 HP.
I'll easily leave any 100+HP bike behind on all surfaces other then tarmac. It's not how much HP it's got, it's how you fucking ride the bike. I am a mx rider since forever and I can tell you that you don't need a lot of HP off road.
I'm saying it's really fast for only having 84hp , it feels like 100 😁
@@LifeofSmokey yeah, but that's the thing... You've locked in on having a lot of HP. Can you honestly say that you use all the 160hp in you KTM when you go off road? And how would you be able to handle that bike without all the "helping aids" that that put into it. It's just reduculous to me. But otherwise I enjoy your videos. 👍🏻👍🏻
Everything above 50hp is actually overkill when going offroad to be honest 😁. The reason I want these high hp motorcycles is because I also do highway riding from time to time , easy to overtake cars and busses , it's fast as a racebike but you can also throw it around in some mud. So best of both worlds 😌
@@LifeofSmokeyThat's the impression I got from you.
Riding dirt all my 55 yrs. My 800DE with more torque, better suspension, lower center of gravity, and far superior electrics, will walk all over your T7. I'm not a T7 hater either.
