    Bought a '24 black 1050 DE last week. Love it. Not worried about running a 6 Days enduro with it. The tigers, multistradas. bmw's and ktm's will be in a junk pile in 10 years and the VS will be pounding down the miles.

    I completely love the 1050 engine on this bike. It's a true great. A V twin will always be different from a parallel twin. It's not monstrously powerful, or intimidating, it just has a great feel to it, with lots of torque and, probably, nothing doing over 100mph. I care not. Fabulous machine. I had one for a few weeks when my CB650R was knocked over in a carpark. Bring back the SV1000, I say. That was a really good bike.

    • @jakestewart7079
      @jakestewart7079 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I agree with you on the engine. It feels a lot more powerful than it is on paper and handles 90+ mph on long freeway stretches way better than my 1200gs. The GS does everything else better but the vstrom is really a great bike for the money.

    I’ll definitely get the DE 1050. I waited for ages for the 21 inch front wheel and the tft screen. Now vstrom 1050 DE is a top notch for me as it can travel equally at pavement and off-road use. It’ll sure be a blast. Thanks Suzuki for listening it’s riders desires

      Are there any major downsides to the 21”? How much of a difference on road does it make?

    • @fs5866
      @fs5866 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jeremyjohnson6438 i can honestly say there's no difference whatsoever, once you get used to the bike, it can handle like a sport bike, just make sure to put street sticky tires if you will barely take it off road.
      Sticky tires on an adventure bike are a no brainer if you use is as a commuter bike, do not use off road tires if it's a not exclusively an off road bike, it is actually dangerous with the lack of traction that you get.

    • @Randomas32
      @Randomas32 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@jeremyjohnson6438 improvements..1. Tft screen 2. New electronics 3. 21 inch front wheel and longer travel suspension which means superb ride quality on pavement and off road 4. New gear ratio which makes it much faster 5. Engine tweaks new valves etc 6. Less sensitive throttle 7. Cruise control in any gear above 20 km/h
      The new 1050 DE is a much much better bike in all aspects.

    Ive got a 2014 1000 that I ride tarmac/gravel 90/10, so the wheels on that bike have never let me down. Since I bought it slightly used for only $8,000 about 4 years ago, I don't feel intimidated by my buddy's $30,000 Multistrada V4, even though I'm quite down in the speed department to his bike. My bike was cheap to purchase and operate. I'd probably stick with the standard 1050, since I have a DRZ400S for off road (single-track) use.

    I ride a V-Storm 650XT and it’s perfect for me, 90% sealed roads and 10% gravel, almost no off road riding. I was considering upgrading to a 1050XT to take a pillion on similar roads but I wonder if the 1050DE is straying too far from the V-Strom’s market niche into a very competitive section of the market? If off road riding is a priority, there are plenty of more capable bikes out there.

Sure KTM 1290 and Suzuki are hard to compare but the character of that Vtwin engine of Suzuki and the sound with Akrapovic (that I also had on KTM) are so lovely that maybe I will just go with Suzuki and not KTM insted.

If lighter weight is your top priority, just get 450cc-500cc single cylinder enduro bike or something like the KTM 690 Enduro R and set it up for adventure riding or rallies. Eventually, some manufacturer will crack the weight code I bet and then the industry will shift. My guess is that manufacturer will be KTM or Triumph. We’ll see though.

    Great vid! I've never been a Suzuki fan for their 'ADV' bikes but this one is a lot nicer in terms of build and features... however, I have owned a 2017 Africa Twin for 4 years and the V would have to been considerably better priced than the AT for me to not buy another one......

    If it wasn't so heavy I'd get it in a heartbeat, I really liked the XT on the test ride but it just can't compete with the Tiger 900 rally pro for what I use a bike for.

    Nice upgrades, looks like Suzuki are sticking with the 1050 V for a while longer. I was rather hoping for an update of the 650 but unless that comes along in the next few weeks I guess we have to assume the parallel twin 700 will be taking it's place.

      If the v-strom 650 got USD forks it would be hard to tell it from the 1050. Now the 650/700 is finally getting USD forks it ends up being a p-twin. It's a bit like the yamaha MT range. You know straight away it's the mt-07 by the forks. Sometimes you see USD forks but it looks small it's the MT-03 I think old fashioned forks is just marketing really.

      Agreed on the power. Another 20 horsepower would be fabulous. It's what makes the big KTM such an enjoyable and capable machine. Well, this is 264cc smaller, but it's derived from the old TL1000R superbike engine, but Suzuki have refined all the fizz out of it.

      @@exothermal.sprocket I think they just geared the thing for more torque since this bike is meant to also double as an "adv" an carry quite a large load.

    Useful upgrades but it’ll mean nothing if Suzuki can’t keep the price down - V Strom’s have a rep for being bullet proof and easy to work on. I could be tempted to trade my 2018 1000 for the more road biased version, but the price will have to be super competitive. No point in comparing these bikes with the top end ADV’s people are blinded by the media hype that surrounds them, in real world conditions there’s not much in it.

    FYI @motobob - It sounds like the seat still is adjustable according to Suzuki. Bike looks promising though. 👍🏾 Looking forward to the 700 they are expected to release soon. It could be a great option for someone that wants more tech than the Tenere offers, but doesn’t want to pay what the Aprilia or Ducati middleweights cost. Plus the Suzuki may be more reliable and easier to get serviced and parts for.

    I put 30K miles on the XT, but when it came to buy a new one I went with KTM 1290SA, as what I wanted the V-strom still wasn't providing (performance). Otherwise it's a truly excellent touring bike with excellent suspension if you take the time to set it up, so DE can only be better.

    I would not touch another one, i rode Suzuki for over 20 years. The last XT 1000 i owned was shocking with multiple electrical issues and Suzuki did not want to know about it ( even under warranty )
