- Marine Serre has achieved so much in such a short amount of time, from winning the LVMH prize for her MA graduate collection, to being championed by Beyonce, Dua Lipa and ASAP Rocky, to her colossal Spring Summer 2023 show that was held in a sports stadium, she has forged a stellar career and respectable business in the face of so many hurdles. Her business skills and true talent at design makes her one of the most interesting designers in the world today and I cannot wait to see more from her design house

What I love is that even though I've never heard of Marine Serre (although I'd seen the brands moon print many times) this was still great to watch! I just love how informative and well researched your videos are.
Im so glad to hear that you enjoyed it even though you didnt know her brand before. In the future Id really love to cover more very small companies, but Im often worried noone will watch if they havent heard of the brand before - you gave me a lot of hope 😇

Fashion is never sustainable
@@chr7881 consumerism is very hard to be sustainable, but fashion can be. Having clothes made or making your own as and when you need them is sustainable as long as they are genuinely made to last. Really, I think the reason consumption is widely unsustainable now is partically due to overconsumption, partially to do with the available fabrics which are vastly different to the sturdy fabrics people used to use and partially due to construction being totally different today, they arent built to last anymore. Previously clothing was extremely time consuming and laborous to make so making it badly was a very humanly costly mistake, now its done by machines, theres no human time wasted in construction, so less effort is put in. Marine's clothing, especially what you see on the catwalk is made exclusively from recycled materials and they waste very little. They put the human time to make it, she's not perfect but she is extremely far in th right direction. Theres obviously a lot more to this, but 100% clothing can be sustainable, it just very rarely is (omg Im sos orry about the length of this message)

this is incredible, im only at 3:45 and i ADORE her work. This will sound like a read, but it isn't, I promise. her early designs feel like they were haphazardly thrown together and are held together with a glue gun and a prayer, but in the same way that the best rupauls drag race runways also feel that way. It feels fast and futuristic and visionary. Honestly, i love her and I'm truly going to follow her from now on.
Sidenote: thank you so much for your channel. These videos are the fashion education that wasn't available to me when I was learning how to sew. This is fuel for me!

I don’t consider this line as fashion. Excuse my language it’s like garbage put together. I used to design better at age 6 with my mom’s leftover fabrics. 😊😊😊
Maybe you can get hired as a designer for her! (Joke obvs) I think its interesting the way she plans her business set up personally, custom clothes with reused fabrics, it's literally thrown away clothes (garbage) but she turns that into somethign so sustainable and desirable, personally Im a big fan
