These "don't do's" are great! As a woman in my 60s, I find the key to aging beautifully is to soften your look and Risa's shared some terrific ways of doing that. Nothing is more aging than harsh makeup. Continue to use the types of makeup you enjoy, but blend more, choose different shades, learn new techniques, etc. Treat your skin well and always apply a good sunscreen. And most importantly, smile!! It makes all the difference in how you look AND feel! ♥️

  • @BarbaraT.
    @BarbaraT. ปีที่แล้ว +125

Confession time: I happened to look at some photos of myself taken in my early 30s (I'll be 49 in a few months) and afterwards I felt "depressed" for the entire day. I've always had hooded eyes but I had so much more space between my eyes and my brows when I was 30. Also, I had fuller hair, less lines...
For full disclosure, I think I look good for my age, maybe I even look a little younger than my age. But looking at those photos was a sad eye-opener. No pun intended (hooded eyes... eye-opener, you know?).
Ok, onwards with the video now.

I have large eyes, but as I am aging I find that the lid is dropping and I have learned from you how to make that OK. When it comes to makeup I apply everyday no matter if I am leaving the house or not. If I am going somewhere I do a little more detailed eye work . I have gotten a lot of compliments on my makeup which makes me feel really great not that I am the big 80 ! People usually think I am in my 60’s which I will gladly accept and say Thank You. The only thing I got from Covid was white hair and in the beginning I had mixed feelings about that, but it is white not a gray, so I went for it! I wear it in a bob and get many compliments on my hair. I feel some of my friends wouldn’t think of putting any makeup on their face so i always ask them if they wear sunscreen, and the answer is usually no. Since I have had 2 pre cancer spots on my face that isn’t a choice, and I just continue on with the rest of my makeup. Sorry this is so long but I feel there are a lot of women who don’t like their looks as they age and think there isn’t anything they can do to look better, so I am here to preach GO FOR IT! You can always wash your face if you need to start over after all it’s just makeup! Thanks 😊

I love your hooded eye techniques. Been doing that for a while now. I also have an additional challenge doing my hooded eyes...about 8 years ago, had a BCC removed from the top part of the bridge of my nose, and was closed up with the flap technique. That involved cutting an aggressive margin, and the skin on the left eye pulled over a little more to suture. The scar is pretty much invisible. My left eye is more hooded than the right. It is like having 2 different eyelids on the same face. I have learned how to compensate and adjust my eyeshadow technique. It is pretty goofy doing 2 complete different eyes on one face. When I'm done, no one would really notice after I was done.

My eyes are hooded, down turned, have wrinkles, puffiness, and dark circles. I got it ALL baby!! 😄
I also wear glasses, (bifocals, near sightedness and astigmatism. Yay) so I don't fuss with a *lot of shadow. But it has taken a while to learn how to work with what I've got. YOU have improved my technique by 1000%. Thanks Risa! 💜🌟

Risa i believe You &Wayne Goss give the best beauty advice when it comes to applying makeup. ya'll have changed my makeup game &its been a life changer. I am 43 years old with mature skin & speaking from experience the older ladies should avoid these younger youtubers &listen more to the older beauty youtubers. I am subscribed to some younger youtubers but only because i love watchingtheir makeup declutter videos &collections, but as for makeup tips if your a older woman then the older women can give better advice for the mature skin types. I love your channel

Thank you Risa, I have just hit 40 and have very sensitive and ultra dry skin, have spent most of my life thinking I can't wear make up, but am discovering that there is some that I can. I have quite a lot of wrinkles already and very hooded eyes, so this was good to hear. I have just found you on You tube so looking forward to watching some more tips and tricks.

Hi risa I'm so happy your going to do another video on false lashes. I'm 58 and struggle putting them on I've never been successful but have tried many times it's very frustrating when you don't really know how to do it and as I've gotten older my eyes have become hooded so I love these video's you do for hooded eyes. Thank you and I pray your feeling better and wish you and you family a blessed holiday season.🎅🎄😊

I really appreciate your videos. I’m 38 and on the way to care more about eye makeup. I totally agree with your points about eye makeup for hooded gals. You don’t have to make claims for those people who don’t have/need to watch the video or not benefit from it. If someone feels it not apply to them just hit the next button and leave. Don’t have to watch and being ruled. Happy new year 🎊 waiting for more great videos from your channel.

    These are great tips!
I'm 52, had deep set that are hooding on the outer 3/4s from aging and skin dropping.
6 months ago I changed by brows to go out and not down
3-4 years ago I switched to small brushes (thank you Annette)
I stopped doing my beloved winged liners in my late 40s. It became difficult and even if I got it right, it has a harshness to it that is just not flattering anymore.
I'm not big on lashes, but I'll definitely give the half lash a go!

Thanks for keeping it real! I'm finding that using less dark color eyeshadow overall is better for my look. Medium dark and lighter seems better. Also like gel pot liner as a gentle, malleable liner form. Thanks for your work!
