  • Oh no! Your Bake element is broken in your oven and you can't make any food! Well fixing your problem is a lot easier than you think. And you don't need to call an appliance repair man to fix it. Just order the heating element online and install it yourself. It takes all of 10 minutes to do. Unless you clean your oven at the same time like I did.
Here is a universal Heating element: amzn.to/43djOVh
This is another for FRIGIDAIRE: amzn.to/41akol9

This video is exactly what I needed! Clear step by step, concise instructions! Thank you so much! My parents are elderly and were going to buy a new oven! I ordered the part for $25 and replaced it for them myself. This saved my parents almost $1500.00!! I am truly grateful!

Mine just went out today...Christmas Eve, up at 5am researching. I hope there is an appliance store open, day before Christmas.
No complaints...still blessed! Happy Holidays 🎄❤

This was exactly what I needed! I went to a local mom and pop and got the part. I googled it around on TH-cam for my Tappan oven… This was just as concise and straightforward as the day is long. The total operation cost me $23.92
The close-ups and details is what set it apart from many other instructional videos.
    Thanks!

Dude someone quoted me 70 to come do this and that was just for them coming to my house (w/o part or labor) I have a very old in the wall oven and separate newer range top so I figured it may be a bit hard because oven is so old. I was really afraid to try it myself. So I found your video and saved some money!! Couldn't find the plug to my oven since it's in the wall but I flipped the breaker before unhooking it! So helpful!!Thank you!!!

Thank you! I did this before with an after market element. It burned out a year later and I bought a better quality replacement (still cheaper than a new oven). I couldn't get the 1st replaement out and googled solutions. Your video came up and though you didn't address my specific concern somehow seeing you do the disconnect with a little force helped me. Yay! THanks!!

Thank you for this. You made the job way quicker and easier than it likely would have been had I tried to wing it myself. Looks like we have the exact same oven. The replacement heating/baking element cost me $30 and only took about 15 minutes from start to finish. The only thing that slowed it down any was the new heating element connection point is L shaped while the original is horizontal so original slid right in while the new took some finagling to get it back through the opening before I can screw it back into place.

  • @Typicalamanda

    Thanks for your video
... You should also try easy off. It should get the streaks off your oven ... Or if you want a less chemical way. Baking soda mixed with water till a paste leave over night then spray with vinager and leave for 2 more hours then wipe. And if that still doesn't get it off you can use a wet sos pad.

Super helpful. I learned 2 things, first the connector poles at the ends of the elements are actually not poles, but flat rectangular thingies that slide into the wires and 2nd that if you are not careful you can lose those wire connectors and would have to go fishing for them. I am waiting to get the new element and then replace per your video. Thanks a bunch.

I've read that normal to smoke but I was worried I think I saw it coming from behind where I screwed it in but I shut it off quickly. Too scared to turn it back on lol. Gonna go get an extinguisher first before I try again just incase the wires are bad and starts on fire.

Why don't you just flip the breaker for the oven instead of having to pull it out and get behind it. If it's to code, then the oven should be on a dedicated circuit. That's the only thing I'd do differently here. Otherwise, great video 😉

You might be able to make a replacement heating element with Kanthal® resistance heating wire. People use that wire to make heat elements for kilns that are used for pottery and heat treating metal such as with knife making. Google "how to build a kiln" for info. Or, you can be nice and buy mom a new oven if you can't find the right element.

Ether take the back panel off the oven, or go and buy a hemostat, be sure it is a very thin one. search google if you don't know what they are. Reach in and try to grab the wire. keep at it until you get the wire.

Find someone who has experience with that sort of thing, stripped screws to help. Or, try this, insert a thin blade such as a butter or steak knife behind the screw plate on the heat element the stripped screw is in and then at the same time turn the screw counter clockwise while gently prying with the knife. This could help the screw thread to successfully grab the sheet metal and back out. After the screw comes out, ether use something called a rev nut to fix it, or go one or two sizes up with a replacement screw so the slightly larger threads can grab into the sheet metal. screw the new larger screw in slowly and feel how it goes in. If it bogs down and wont turn, it might be too large and you may need a slightly smaller screw or a different type of screw called a self tapping screw. Also, be sure your replacement heating element has a large enough hole for the new larger self tapping screw you used. One thing, love this video but don't recommend using a power drill to remove the screws. Those screws are screwed into sheet metal and if you start out with the drill set to screw in instead of out, you can easily strip those screws by mistake. Use a hand held screw driver instead and remember, righty tighty and lefty loosy. Turn the screw driver right to make it tight and left to make it come lose. All you guys with screwing [screw driver] experience don't laugh, some people are screw driver virgins and um, don't know how to get er in or out with out some advice.
