It launched two weeks ago and became the fastest growing app launch ever in less than a week, idk if people reporting its death so early are actually doing genuine journalism/investigating or just in it for the clicks
I like the idea and potential of Threads but its missing some important features. No default darkmode and no default followers feed are huge to me. I feel like my feed is all people I don't follow. Hopefully they'll add these features.
It’s definitely pretty bare bones right now! A part of me kinda liked the pared back UI at the moment but I do love a good dark mode 👀 thanks for watching 🥰
Once you follow about 100 people the algorithm starts to even out and be not silly generic influencer content. I’m looking forward to more search options and a following feed though for sure.
The part you said Meta has made so many bad choices in the past... I totally agree with that and that is the major reason i strongly refuse to install Threads..and i have many other reasons as well but that's not my main point. I know it sounds kinda silly that instead i installed Twitter a week ago😂😂, but yeah i only can trial and error and see what will happen because sadly this is not the situation that we artists and users can control. And about other platforms you mention in the end of the video, i'm sceptical about them as well. *sighs in confusion and frustration *
It’s not dead, it just lost alot of people who don’t like Elon/who enjoyed the mass silencing of people they don’t agree with 😐. We see alot of that in today’s world from all sides sadly, in any case..threads is even worse lol.
Hi! Thanks for your insight! I was debating whether I should join threads or not, because of the same reasons you stated. I'm in the EU, and threads is not launched here yet because of privacy issues :):):) but if everything clears out and it's safe to use, I might join to help build the artist community in there
I'm moving to the web3. A better cohesive community, no ultra big corp selling your identity to advertisers, people willing to really support the artists they like.
As I watched this video I downloaded threads and explored around. You are totally right, the on boarding feature is incredible. SO handy to already have a feed that I love one day one! And encouraging to know that my following has the opportunity to find me easily on the next platform!
I’ve currently been trying to make Newgrounds my primary social media/online hub, and any other websites as supplemental accounts. I still have my Twitter account just so I can help support and promote other creators I like, as well as promote anything that I’m making. But that’s all. I also have Discord for actively chatting, collaborating, and keep in touch with fellow creator friends! (I mean, that’s kind of what all my accounts are kinda for to an extent, including this one, but Discord is what I’ve been using mostly!) I’ve admittedly been avoiding Threads like lava from a volcano, for the reasons you’ve mentioned regarding it being made by Meta, and Meta is not really in my top favorite or even begrudgingly tolerant companies tbh. That being said, with Threads being open platform (I think that’s what you said? Is it somewhat open source?) and so far sounding very similar yet much better function-wise than Twitter, it does really peak my interest! I’m very curious to see how this goes, but like you said, I’m not super comfortable using Meta related stuff very much. If I have to, and none of the non-Meta alternatives are being kept from me or whatever, then I’ll use their product. But since there are other platforms that seem just as good, as well as Threads still being a new product needing some time to grow, and I have my own list of preferred sites I wanna try anyway, I’m gonna stay away from Threads for now. I’ll keep my eye on it, but that’s about it. Also, I’m gonna keep using my existing accounts as I’ve been using them. I am thankful for the simple review and your current thoughts on Threads, and all the good and bad points you made regarding everything. Like I said, I’ll keep my eye on Threads, but I’m gonna stick to my current plan for my social accounts for the time being!
When I first heard about Threads, this scene from He's Just Not That Into You popped into my head: th-cam.com/video/0gGXylVz6KI/w-d-xo.html The advice I've been given by my artist support group is to "join Threads so you can gather followers", but it doesn't matter where I go, I don't gather followers or create engagement because my content is low quality and sporadic at best. I don't need another social media app to remind me I need to work harder on this stuff. To me, Threads is yet another data collection point, from which Meta can gather my data and force ads on me. Instagram is an app for ads now. Has Threads gone the same way yet? I actually need significantly less time on socials and much more time in my studio and fuck the algor-whatsit.
I was curious to see if I'm wasting my time on Twitter so I asked Bard for some statistics. From Bard - "According to Statista, Twitter's daily active users (DAUs) for recent quarters are doing amazingly well:" 2022 Q3: 229 million 2022 Q4: 237 million 2023 Q1: 240 million 2023 Q2: 540 million I'm not sure what accounts for this huge jump in the second quarter of 2023 but if it's accurate Twitter (X) is growing at a remarkable rate.
I don't think threads will succeed if they basically do the same thing as instagram with monetization and their algorithm, because lets be honest, insta isn't performing for anyone but huge accounts, it exists to market things to you rather than display what you like or build community anymore. There's also meta's absolute hate for anything nsfw. It might bite people pretty hard.
Threads is not good at all i dont know why they i mean Meta/Facebook can only make their products worse and brake things, instagram was cool now its broken, facebook is almost dead, now we have new app Threads , maybe it will be ok in future
I barely know anyone still using Meta at all. Last time I even logged in was over a month ago and I have zero plans to return to it. Threads has no draw for me. Meta has shown over and over how they will abuse and censor anyone. I hold out zero hope for them as a company.
this was so so so important. especially mentioning the socio-political impact and authority meta has over it's users and the extent to which that causes damage, i think that's not talked about nearly enough as it should be. as for threads, i can't say i hate it, but i'm definitely weary about it - social media is objectively and inherently not really a great thing, but unfortunately it is necessary to utilise as an artist - i don't believe the whole 'less toxic than twitter' kinda gag they've got going on.
I see how the datasharing between social media apps can be very beneficial for artists and other professional account. But it’s also the same reason Meta scares the living daylight out of me and it’s not even legal to use in the EU yet 🙃
Though I see the concern, I _am_ intrigued given their ambitious claims, and am at the very least willing to respect that, and give Threads a try while being mindful of these past controversies- (õ∀ó )ゝ After all, I am not afraid to turn back if need be.
I just found out its not available in Germany at this point. Because of Data Privacy Reasons. Already makes itself unattractive ... Sad tho. I really wish for a image based, organic platform for art. I left instagram at the beginning of 2023 because it gave me so many negative feeling and demotivated me with its 13 likes for pictures I spent hours on painting.
"Moderation team?" Hardly, it'll be automated like twitter's and likely you won't ever be able to get your account back if you get banned for defending yourself or other. I would ask, can you create multiple separate accounts? Do you have to use a phone number and if so can one be used for multiple accounts? Same question for mastodon.
Twitters not dead. And also no one wants art on threads. I’m an artist and have seen so many posts saying THREADS IS FOR INSIDE TALK TO yOUR FILLOWING NOT FIR MEMES ART VIDS ETC. I don’t really agree but that’s the consensus
I want to check it out. I feel like Political Science is something I never really heard of before and I would want to be involved with it. But I still think Threads could be an actually functional social media website based on the description. I hated using Twitter and I want to see if a similar experience can work. Mastodon is supposed to be similar and "the resistance", but it is one of the more unbearable websites I have used. Why do so many new social media platforms seem designed to be cumbersome and artificially limitibg?
I won't lie, i had this gut feeling telling me how odd it was for Twitter to be dying, and all of a sudden, a new app to replace it shows up at the same time. Is it just me? I have a Twitter, Instagram, but i have no intentions to get Threads. Feels fishy to me, and I can't shake off that feeling.

I wouldn’t call it dead. I’ve had as much engagement as ever but there has definitely been an exodus. So far threads is super slow and lots of accounts are abandoned.
without advertising revenue that’s not a sustainable business model, the money they pay creators has to come from somewhere, and twitter isn’t even close to profitable right now
Twitter is bleeding cash so badly those payments aren't going to continue. Hell it's almost certain that they only paid some of the higher profile (and worst) people on there the one time to try and sucker more people into paying for Blue. If they make any more payments (and I highly doubt they will), they'll stop them by the end of the year because they don't have the cash to keep it up and it's not going to encourage enough blue subscriptions to fix the problem.
Naah. This reminds me of mastadon. If anything, threads made twitter look better. Nothing like a copy cat to show you what you're missing. Plus twitter started paying its content creators.
Twitter paid a few people, mostly the worst people you know, to try and trick more people into paying for Blue because ads are down significantly and they don't even bring in half the cash they need just to make net cashflow zero. I would bet money they either never make another payment or they stop making them before the end of the year. And let's get real, no one is going to miss the sheer amount of bigots and hate on Twitter. And I say that as someone who still uses Twitter rather than its competitors because people I know still need to use it for their businesses and I want to keep supporting them.
Where did you get/hear that? Cuz all i heard is that Elon drastically increased the limit, but even that is still not enough Twitter is going to die at this rate, since lot of artists/influencers got affected by this
Twitter is literally being flooded with bots, n*zis, and keeps having technical issues because the CEO is incompetent, he fired pretty much everyone who was competent, and their cash flow is so bad they keep refusing to pay their bills. That rate limit was a result of him making a change on a whim requiring people have an account to see tweets and it breaking linked tweets in every article ever so badly they made repeated calls to load them every second but couldn't load them so the requests just kept coming and going unfulfilled. He ddos'd his own website because he's an impulsive idiot. Twitter is absolutely dying. At this rate he'll either sell it at a massive loss to people who try and undo the damage to get it back to around where it was, or he'll run it into the ground. Those are the only two possibilities for its future right now.

I'm in the EU, and threads is not launched here yet because of privacy issues :):):) but if everything clears out and it's safe to use, I might join to help build the artist community in there
Don't bother, Threads is dead already.
Like I said, I’ll keep my eye on Threads, but I’m gonna stick to my current plan for my social accounts for the time being!
can you tell me the non-Meta alternative social media that i can use to grow my art audience?
would really apprenciate it.
When I first heard about Threads, this scene from He's Just Not That Into You popped into my head: th-cam.com/video/0gGXylVz6KI/w-d-xo.html
The advice I've been given by my artist support group is to "join Threads so you can gather followers", but it doesn't matter where I go, I don't gather followers or create engagement because my content is low quality and sporadic at best.
I thought I saw somewhere threads is now placing a rate limit too 🤷
I was curious to see if I'm wasting my time on Twitter so I asked Bard for some statistics. From Bard - "According to Statista, Twitter's daily active users (DAUs) for recent quarters are doing amazingly well:"
2022 Q3: 229 million
2022 Q4: 237 million
2023 Q1: 240 million
2023 Q2: 540 million
I'm not sure what accounts for this huge jump in the second quarter of 2023 but if it's accurate Twitter (X) is growing at a remarkable rate.
Right now, it’s difficult to discover other users on threads as there’s essentially no discover tab. Maybe as new people join they’ll add something.
I have no interest in ever using Threads. It's already losing average time on app by users. It was 20 minutes it's now down to 5 minutes.
Though I see the concern, I _am_ intrigued given their ambitious claims, and am at the very least willing to respect that, and give Threads a try while being mindful of these past controversies- (õ∀ó )ゝ
After all, I am not afraid to turn back if need be.
Just another site were all my work will be up for scraping. No thanks.
Let's also not forget about Cambridge Analytica.
I won't lie, i had this gut feeling telling me how odd it was for Twitter to be dying, and all of a sudden, a new app to replace it shows up at the same time.
Is it just me? I have a Twitter, Instagram, but i have no intentions to get Threads. Feels fishy to me, and I can't shake off that feeling.
honestly same & if you look into their privacy policy its even worse
I mean, there IS a reason it is not launched in the European Union...and depending on what happens, it may not.
@@Linnzywhat’s the reason?
@@UnderTheMoon3 it's due to personal information that Threads is gathering and is unsafe for the people. @@UnderTheMoon3unless I'm mistaken they aren't complying with EU privacy laws. Which is really serious business obviously and should make anyone wary.
Threads is coming apart at the seams already.
From my understandings, no the Rate Limit isn't over, Elon thinks that increasing the limit, will solve the problem, but it doesn't, Free accounts can now view 1k posts, Verified 6k posts, & Blue Users i think 15k, please correct me if i am wrong, i could be wrong, since i don't really follow or use Twitter that much myself
It sucks that it's not available in the Eu (Vpns aren't working now)
twitter aint goin anywhere
There's Facebook, TH-cam, Twitter?, & just more rebranded Facebook.
Threads is nothing like Facebook
Consider the parent companies.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts about Threads, it was really interesting. I am still on the fence. I was about to join, then got slightly spooked by the Fediverse disclaimer…I can see the positives of it, but it also feels like losing a bit of control over where my content ends up…but maybe I’ve misunderstood it. Essentially I’m still keeping my ears open, listening to the different opinions and maybe I’ll hop on it at some point ☺️
"twitter killing app" *wheeze*
Besides the fact that artists aren’t benefiting from new Twitter, I’m actually happy that toxic site is going down. There are many more platforms to use
Not for s*x workers.
@@Vivi2372 yeah nsfw artists are out of options as well, if twitter goes down

I love your take! I hope it’s a redemption story for Meta. Where they are more aware of the culture on threads. Unfortunately I don’t think anyone else could have made threads because no one else has the billions of users to aim at Twitter…. Truly astonishing how we are alive at this time. I really really really want to believe Meta will use this new platform to to remake its image. I’m also not optimistic. We are human. And we all will keep being caught up in these structures that can both burn us and save us…. 😑🤷♀️ I’m on threads and it’s so nice just as it is. It’s basic form is enough. Well it already cannot work for me since I only draw hentai 😢
I wouldn’t call it dead. I’ve had as much engagement as ever but there has definitely been an exodus. So far threads is super slow and lots of accounts are abandoned.
I see Threads more of a threat to the advertisers on Instagram than Twitter. This too will change.
threads was doa
Threads is already dead.
Not at all.
thread isnt available in france
Both website would die but Thread is going out first.
Artist should waste their prescious time on Thread.
Twitter is so not dead and they pay they're creators more than youtube does. If you look at the stats threads is doa
without advertising revenue that’s not a sustainable business model, the money they pay creators has to come from somewhere, and twitter isn’t even close to profitable right now
& on top of that, if you wanna get paid, you have to pay for twitter blue
& i refuse to do that, no thanks
Twitter is bleeding cash so badly those payments aren't going to continue. Hell it's almost certain that they only paid some of the higher profile (and worst) people on there the one time to try and sucker more people into paying for Blue.
If they make any more payments (and I highly doubt they will), they'll stop them by the end of the year because they don't have the cash to keep it up and it's not going to encourage enough blue subscriptions to fix the problem.
i've heared nsfw content is not allowed on threads, is there any good social media for us spicy artists out there?
Matsodon?
@@xXVibrantSnowXx is it actually a good place to be? I don't want to judge it but I've heard it is less populated and more toxic than twitter
I’m gonna download it today….🤔 as an artist, I’m looking for new horizons
"Its a meta app" that's made may choice
extremely valid
Not to mention their user count is falling and even the people who work at Twitter are using threads because they said it’s better
twitter is nowhere near dying perhaps you need to have an unbiased look...the rate limit was temp whilst work being done
Where did you get/hear that?
Cuz all i heard is that Elon drastically increased the limit, but even that is still not enough
Twitter is going to die at this rate, since lot of artists/influencers got affected by this
Twitter is literally being flooded with bots, n*zis, and keeps having technical issues because the CEO is incompetent, he fired pretty much everyone who was competent, and their cash flow is so bad they keep refusing to pay their bills.
@@xXVibrantSnowXx the increase was temp whilst they did something with aglorithm..he said so in one of his tweets

I'm not convinced it's on purpose because he is, genuinely, one of the stupidest "successful" people in history. However if he were destroying it on purpose one possible reason is that it's been a hub for leftist organizing for years and in a way no other platform has replicated.

What I like about Threads is its chill atmosphere. It is less about selling yourself as a perfect professional and more about showing the behind the scenes views. I adore seeing WIP, random photos, work spaces, random questions, throwback art pieces. It’s a great community for artists, writers, and other creatives. 😊
It’s going to get significantly worse as a platform once it has a substantial user base. Look up “the enshittification of the internet”
I disagree 100% Threads is dying a horrible death.
