Awesome video! After almost 40 years I played this game for this first time this week on my Atari 600XL! Such a legendary game. Currently almost beaten the second level haha! Great review! You may be the only actual 'review' of this game on the net.
One of my very favourite films growing up, the game deserves a lot of credit for being such an addictive, yet tough, platform/puzzler. Hopefully the video brought back some good nostalgic memories 😇🕹👌
@@CheekyCommodoreGamer Yeah I've seen it played and never actually played it. I've played and beaten Conan and Bruce Lee. I've actually played Zorro but briefly. The Conan game is famous from this era but not like Goonies I don't think. This game needs a modern remake in 2D, not 3D. And not overdone.
Holy took me forever to find this game … I remember the first level but had absolutely no clue what the name was , just had vague memories when I was a kid … I tried asking chat gpt what little memories I had and suggested “goonies “ and I quickly went to TH-cam and here I am … took me decades ! Didn’t expect this little gem of channel reviewing it too . Great work !
Datasoft's games in general weren't exactly master classes in graphics- usually they were "well, I can tell what that's *supposed* to be" affairs- but the gameplay was outstanding. The Goonies, Bruce Lee, Black Magic, and many others- all remarkable in using relatively simple controls in innovative ways, providing depth and new surprises to delight the player as the progressed.
They definitely had a recipe for games that worked purely on gameplay alone. That was the beauty of a lot of the C64 titles, they just 'worked'. Yet every one of them unlock a million memories 😇🕹👌
Ah yeah of course, the legendary Dick Donner - who made some absolutely classic films, including Superman!!! 👌 it's a great game, you definitely should get it added to the library 😇🕹👌
@@CheekyCommodoreGamer Let's just hope, I find this game in the original box release 😺👍. By the way, i uploaded the Commodore 64 gameplay video of BUBBLE BOBBLE 😺👍🕹️.
Remember seeing screenshots of this game in one of the English game magazines and getting fantasising about how incredibly fantastic the game must be. Didn't live up to my hype when i tried it years later but still pretty cool game.
It's a tough little puzzler platformer - but Goonies was such a nostalgic hit film that it did resonate through to some fans of the film. However, like you say... it didn't quite live up to the hype and its a pretty obscure title in essence 😇🕹️👌
Such a puzzling little game that definitely held my attention as a kid. Trying it recently made me realise just how tough this game actually could be 😇🕹👌

@@CheekyCommodoreGamer An interesting sidenote, we live about an hour and a half from Astoria.
Always wanted to go, Oregon looks amazing 😇🕹️👌

THE GOONIES is a legendary classic movie 😺👍.
R.I.P., Richard Donner 👍.
I'm still looking for this game to my
Commodore 64 😹👍🕹️.

Awesome intro and video,I lived the 80s nothing cooler then the Goonies 😊
Thanks man, yeah this was definitely my era too. Must have watched the film more than 100 times growing up 😇🕹👌
What a game, was awesome, couldn't finish it thou, wouldn't mind giving it another bash
It was frustrating in places, for sure - but always worth revisiting, purely for the nostalgia 😇🕹👌
Awesome game .. love the Goonies :) .. Ive got it on tape and disc for the c64 and other 8bit formats .. keep up the good work am enjoying watching :)
I think I must have seen the film over 100 times, at least... great era 😇🕹️👌
Always wanted to try this one. Good stuff!
Definitely worth playing although, it is pretty frustrating in places. Co-ordination is vital on the later stages 😇🕹👌
You can "Play" it on 'Internet Archive' but god knows how the controls are!
Thank you - I even forgot this Game already.
Hope it brought back some nostalgic memories 😇🕹👌
@@CheekyCommodoreGamer for sure!
Only played the NES version, this one looks quite a bit different with a harder emphasis on puzzle-solving.
Such a puzzling little game that definitely held my attention as a kid. Trying it recently made me realise just how tough this game actually could be 😇🕹👌
This game did my head in!
Haha aye, I remember my 6 year old self saying 'this sucks' 🤣🕹👌
@@CheekyCommodoreGamer Still bringss back terrible memories!
🤣😅 I feel your pain, my friend
It's good enough for me.
we are
Hanging onto strains of greed and blues 😇🕹👌
I liked the movie a lot. The game was fun to play but the limited palette was annoying. Maybe it was easier to port to the PC that way :P dunno
It was what it was I suppose, bloody hard in places too 😇🕹👌
