14:05 you could save a lot of time on cleanup (especially around connectors) by dipping the pre-tinned wire into flux instead of applying flux onto the board. That technique works for me every time

Great job! I do this job as well and I usually solder it from the top with hot air using 310c @30% airflow so it don't blow away. I usually remove them from donor boards by heating from the bottom. Always worried about blowing something off, so question is what temp were you using roughly when you heated from the bottom to solder the new connector into place?

Hi, I think since your channel encourages people to try repairs on their own, which is a good thing in my view, that it would be good if you can go thru the common misstakes a beginner can make. Maybe if you recommend practicing on a test board or something or what you recommend doing. I have seen that you started offering microsoldering courses which is great, I would want to participate in your training courses myself but Im in Sweden and now with covid19 I think it is better to wait for now. Don't understand why people think they can do this level of micro electronic repair at home on their kitchen table with a cheap pencil soldering iron. This stuff is a professional level repair now with how small the components and traces are now. especially with the poor quality of manufacturing OEM's are doing now. Support your local independent repair shops.
I remember my first time replacing this connector and seeing that nintendo screen after i was so proud😊 also the traces going inwards under connector make it super hard and annoying
Man what size wire is that? Magnetic enameled copper wire i assume? .01mm? Incredible repair fine hand and watching you bend and shape the trade repair wire so smoothly and perfectly is nuts. And cutting them that close to the pcb with the exacto blade... Impressive

Brother I've just started out microsoldering as a 16 year old. J purchase goot wick for desoldering but it seems to keep on getting stuck to the pads no matter how much flux I use. Is it just cheap quality or am I using too low of a temp (300°C)?
I had to redo the work and restore the 2 pads that I though didn't connector anywhere 😡
