Those two components are for overvoltage protection. You can bridge the two lines on the inductor footprint, the other coponent you simply leave open as it is. With this done the printer will work. You just inform the customer that the protection circuits are missing. The customer will be happy for having a working printer.
@@arcilonjr you are correct, but to just technically correct your comment, those are D- and D+ lines not RX and TX, this is USB connector not a serial one... 😉
Thank you. Because of your videos I got myself a hotair, soldering iron, scope, bench power, usb tester, thermal camera to learn how to fix my own stuff to reduce e-waste and learn a valuable and fun skill. I still suck at removing BGA and doing stencils but I'm making progress. Hard part right now is learning to read board views and get board view files to know what I'm testing for.
L1 Is a Filter you can find One on mouser , not struggle with value buy keep It lower , other sot23-5 u9 Is a protection for surge , you can find it also on mouser .
I think the 5pin ic is an overvolt prodection like NCP361SNT1G. If you messure the thouthhole it should be ground. But you dont need them for function. The L you can short them in line. Its only for emv. Or coose one you think or look at other schematics.
No, it is not suitable. U9 Dual TVS diode IC that protects USB data lines. The IC you suggested is an overvoltage protection IC that protects the USB +5V line. It cannot be used on data lines.
My guess is the USB connector suffered external force causing it to break off inwards and knock off the missing components. Presumably that would have fallen down to the bottom of the unit & may still be floating around in there. Good luck.
Always interesting, especially when it goes wrong. I always ask the customer to see what exactly happened. This gives you an idea of the amount of damage before you begin.
The last place i worked at had 4 of these at the shipping stations. I never cared for these printers much. Very expensive for what they are and I've ended up having to replace the thermal print heads on all of them because the cost of repairs or replacement on these things are expensive. Nice repair job. Keep up the nice work. I'm about to reorder more soldering supplies from you, I'm running low again
If the heads are not kept clean and the tension is not right then the print heads will wear. We ran ours 24/7 and I never had to replace a head. Its also best to run them at 5.0 ips for best print quality. The older Intermec 4420 was my favorite
I worked on Zebra thermal printers all day long. Mainly the ZT-610 and ZD400 Series as some 410's. Get a real electric screwdriver like the Dewalt DCF610 and those Torx screws will easily come out.
I have a 410 and its a great printer, Ill see if i can open mine up get ya the numbers. I have made a video on it for you description has the info and clear photo.
Great job Big Boss, Alex... Better than Factory is all over N.F 💯 💯💯💯 ❤ love Northridgefix 💯💯💯. Forward watch your upcoming new episode videos of new repairs videos. 😊
Maybe a dumb question. The missing components can maybe be hiding in the big cabinet of the printer?? If lycky they are there you maybe can find out what they are and get new ones.
Dear Alex, if you have any other printer not repairable in your workshop or any other desktop board that can not be fixed, you could locate them from that boards USB connector, more or less they have the same values and that way you gonna end up having a functional printer.👍💪
With all due respect, I'm certain that Big BOSS can handle his job, guys. If those parts WERE in the cabinet/case, I believe he'd have noticed that, don't you? JS.
zebra 410's are the bane of my existence. i hate those printers. zebra puts out such junk. those printers are not cheap either. i think they are around 1500 bucks or so give or take. my company uses them and every single one of them suck
I have the GK420d model and it's a beast ,have never had any problem with this model , it is a different model than the 410 that's for sure ,but it works really great
Here is me today, $50 ,10 year old laptop needs a bios battery or it shuts down, split the case, replace the battery, and the mouse pad connecter disintegrates. Hello wireless mouse, the trials and tribulations of older hardware. Hard drive was at 9% health,120gb SSD and 8gb ram upgrade, my 13 yr old is using it now.
A Zebra thermal printer...I don't know how many printers I have opened and repaired. Also a lot of continuous inkjets. Show me a print head and I know where it's used
An honest mistake. A lesson to learn. If a connector is broken, likely the vias gone affected and components got ripped from the board, always confirm there's good connection.
Alex, really enjoyed the "change-up" of your repair video showing "the man" , Big Boss doing his thing! Hope all is well with you and your family...
I've got some zebra printers at work, I'll see if I can get you a pic of the components
we have also those zebra printer`s at mine job. but i am not sure if i am allowed to open them.
@@martindonderwinkel653 We won't tell !

ChatGPT suggest ACT45B and SP0504BAHTG. Based on what is seen here. Should be taken with caution.
yes you are right the left one are 4 pins just bridge the 5 pins one probably will not affect the usage
the left one is the RX TX communication this one will solve the problem

L1 is interference protection
dude that mb removal was smooth, when it gets tedius i tend to make mistakes, this was real good removal. nice big boss

Translating a bit, "Hard part right now" is experience. It's a good place to be when you enjoy gaining it. Sweet!

i have thought about that too.

Big boss is always quiet. And, he is watching the news at work. Why? Because he is the big boss.
I urge him to say a word or two. 😊 Thanks.
If the components got ripped off, they might be inside the case if your lucky. Great video!
Maybe you could get the boss of all bosses to fix the microscope arm to the wall😅

i have a bunch of these printers at my organization, these are best ever printers in the market.
All manufacturers should be legally required to make board schematics available, at least to repair businesses. Hopefully you get a donor board.
But manufacturers always want you to buy new one to increase their business and not to repair the old.

I posted a video of it on my channel.
If the info in i provided is not useful and all else fails they can still use it under Ethernet Control.
You can just run wires to reconnect the data lines on L1. It will do without OV protection(U9).

Ich liebe Kunden, die von einem fehlenden Stecker reden und nicht verraten, dass sie auch noch andere Komponenten abgerissen haben.
Definitely enjoyed it would have love to see it fixed
Awesome ✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻
I'll let you know when I decide if Iiked it or not! Still, another fun and interesting video, Alex! Thanks Heaps! 👏👏👏
That usb port got a heavy punch back in the cabinet and ripped the other parts off when cable was connected.
بالتوفيق ان شاء الله كامل النجاح ❤❤
Hi we use the zebra for cargowise :)
What do you use to clean the flux off
isopropyl alcohol 99%
out of curiousity ,theres another set of holes next to usb you were working on for another usb port, does that line have the bits you would need?
That's a huge thermal printer
let just say factories are good at producing while human or Alex is good at making factory produced electronics better and repairing it.
Check the floor inside the printer for the missing 2 components
Is R238 gone too?
What was the Freescale chip ?

Search the missing component inside the printer 😅
Not the first time i see one of those USB connectors taking another component of the board away 😬
Where is the Zebra 🦓 I don't see any 😢
L1 2 inductors DATA+ DATA- and maybe the other line is +5V from usb

A usb c female connector would have been great 😂😅
usb -c are 10x worst than that usb connector on that printer that is have duty, big style.
