Russia’s Rite of Spring 3+2 was really brilliant and it ticked off the boxes of being extraordinarily difficult. It didn’t sacrifice the choreography as much as their 5 ribbons, which was a mess in my opinion. Spain had the strongest package of routines to me
What is so strange about this, is that I’ve seen these exact gymnasts in exactly those leotards in the most heartbreaking situations, when they failed an element, when they cried together, when they tried these leos late at night at podium training just hours before they would go on the carpet the next day... all those moments where you feel that life is brutally honest, painful, and that these gymnasts are suffering to the bone every moment to achieve the perfection of their elements. And still, there you see them here, at the Olympics, among all that wealth, and happiness, and sunshine, and the crowd that is pleased by this performance... those five gymnasts, their leotards, everything they have they gave. And still, none of it can be seen. They are one title of a random Olympics video, 3.5 minutes in the lives of the public, seen once in history. The three years between the Olympics? Forgotten. The gymnasts who were part of the group and then got injured and had to leave between those Olympics? Forgotten. All Olympics are talking about are those gymnasts, and just for a few moments. All those tears that those leotards, clubs are, they are so banal in the world of International Sport. These gymnasts were there, they will already be forgotten as soon as someone else does something. Their tears, blood, sweat? They don’t exist, this is the polished Olympic world, for wealthy western public. And still, the leos that soaked these tears, this blood, this sweat up? They wear them. Idk, somehow this makes me sad.
If it's a consolation most people work hard for others every day ... And despite spending a lifetime doing this, they don't even have a minute of recognition. A lot of effort is made every day and sometimes it is not seen by a son, wife or husband, father, mother ... it is life
I can’t speak on behalf of all, only to my own experience. I have a gold medal in Men’s Rhythmic Gymnastics for the USA in Osaka in 2006, so I can tell you why we do it. It’s for the love of the sport. It’s about discipline, camaraderie, passion, perseverance. We all have a killer instinct to try to be the best we can be. These sports saved our lives & created lifelong friendships and communities with our teammates and coaches and families. Not everyone can be a champion, but you can see the compassion and grace when winning AND losing in somebody’s character. Some people go through life numb and scared. Every single one of these athletes is brave. No one forced me to do sport. I needed it. And the things I learned from Sport gave me an amazing life and I have endless respect for the ones the strive to be the best humans they can be. I hope this helps make you less sad. Because we truly love the sport. Even when it may not love us back. 💗

Well, I'm a boy but I train my self like a rhythmic gymnast. It's kinda risky but luckily I can handle my self. And ya, at first it's hard but right now a lot of people (in my college or school) they amazed with what I do. To be honest, I'm so greatful for that.
